Comparison of the number of days it takes to transport a Porsche via the Suez Canal and via the Cape of Good Hope

Posted: Posted:

More and more ships are avoiding the Suez Canal route

As of mid-December 2023, we have seen on the news that many shipping companies are suspending navigation through the Suez Canal due to a series of attacks on commercial ships by the Houthi movement, a pro-Iranian armed group in Yemen. I think there are many people who do.

Nowadays, when I hear the word ``Suez Canal,'' the first thing I think of is ``the place where a ship carrying a Porsche passes by'', so when I received this news, I thought `` Is there a possibility that Porsche's delivery date will be delayed? If this continues, transportation costs will increase and prices may rise again?" are all the questions.

Even I am in agony, so I'm sure those who are waiting for their Porsche to be delivered will be

"What if we don't go through the Suez Canal?"
"Huh? Via the Cape of Good Hope? How many days does it take to go through the Suez Canal and the Cape of Good Hope?"

I thought he might be getting angry.

I wonder if that's the case (lol).

So, for your reference, I would like to list the Porsche carrier routes I experienced via the Suez Canal and Cape of Good Hope, and the number of days it took.

If there are people who are feeling distressed, I hope that this will help you understand, even if just a little bit, that this is what it feels like.

*I don't remember that there were any strange delays on either route, such as "Why are you staying in that place for so many days?", so every cruise is delayed due to various reasons. This is a basic premise, but I think that the two routes I am comparing this time are based on routes that did not have that major problem (delay). perhaps.

Porsche transportation: time required via Cape of Good Hope

First of all, this is what the route and schedule looked like when Porsche was transported via the Cape of Good Hope.

Germany departed Emden Port on November 21, 2020, and after calling at several locations, arrived at Toyohashi Port on January 12, 2021.

The time it took was 52 days.

Porsche transportation: time required via the Suez Canal

Next, here is the route and schedule when it was transported via the Suez Canal.

The ship departed from Emden Port, Germany on April 20, 2023 and arrived at Toyohashi Port on May 24, 2023. It is not shown on the map because it is difficult to see, but in reality, the last stop was at Chiba Port on May 23, 2023, and then at Toyohashi Port on May 24.

The time it took was 33 days.

All I can do is ignore the weather and the situation at the time, but I still think, ``I didn't have to wait anywhere in particular,'' and compare the times when things seemed to be going smoothly. However, the time required for the route via the Cape of Good Hope was 52 days, and the route via the Suez Canal was 33 days, which meant a difference of 19 days.

It's only the 19th, but it's still the 19th.

19 days is a long time for someone waiting for a Porsche. I feel like I'm about 19 years old (I'm exaggerating).

...However, if you can wait and they come, that's better. There may be a slight delay compared to arriving via the Suez Canal, but even so, in today's world, I think we can only wish that they had come.

We hope that your Porsche will be safely transported to Japan in the future!
