Porsche Rennsport Reunion 7 | I went to 2023 ⑦Extra edition

Posted date: October 18, 2023 Updated date:

This blog is a continuation of this articlePorsche Rennsport Reunion 7 | I went to 2023 ⑥What made me happiest about RR7 and more

Ah, in the previous blog I wrote that my experience with RR7 was over, but I added one more thing.

Sorry, this time I will not be talking about RR7, but about various other things that happened when I went to RR7.

RR7 app

When I went to RR7, the event staff had prepared an app specifically for RR7, saying, ``You should download this app.''

This includes explanations of the highlights of this event, but I think the most useful part was the "schedule."

The daily schedule for each event is displayed, so I was able to quickly check things like ``How many races are I running right now?'' and ``Oh, this is what's happening on the main stage.''

What was even more convenient was that if you checked the things you were interested in/wanted to see in each schedule in advance and registered them in My Schedule, only the things you had selected would be listed, and on the day of You will now receive a notification a few minutes before the event starts.

Porsche passport

There's another app that's different from the one I mentioned earlier, but inside the venue there was a message that said, ``Did you stamp your Porsche passport?'' so I thought, ``What is that?'' and gave it a try.

Then, there was something called "Porsche Passport" that I saw for the first time.

In order to log in to the site, you need a MyPorsche account. If you are already registered, log in using your My Porsche login information.

When I got the stamp, "Rennsport Reunion 7" in this Porsche passport was stamped with the date (on the Porsche passport site).

If you look at other stamp spots, you'll see some upcoming events in America displayed there.

Porsche Passport is a Porsche Passport, when you participate in an event related to Porsche, you can get stamps from each event venue on this passport, and the event stamps you went to will accumulate as a memory. ) thing.

Next, when I looked at the places where I could get stamps, both of them were events held in the United States, so I think this service is only available in the United States.

I thought it would be great if a Japanese version of this Porsche Passport was also made ^^

In Japan, there are not only race events but alsoMorning Mission @PEC TokyoI think if we made it possible to get stamps, people would be able to look back on their memories and say, ``Oh, that's when I went there.''

Is it popular to manually raise the rear spoiler of Porsche 911?

When I participated in the Porsche event at Laguna Seca this time, I noticed one thing when I saw the Porsche 911s of the participants.

That is the "911 rear spoiler".

As you all know, the 911's rear spoiler automatically raises and lowers when the car determines the speed or the need for downforce.

And this rear spoiler can also be left "raised" manually.

Looking at some of the 911s I met at this event, I felt that many of them were manually raising this rear spoiler.

I also have this white one↓

Before returning from Laguna SecaPebble Beach Golf LinksHowever, when I went for a short drive along the famous 17 Mile Drive, there seemed to be a lot of Porsche owners thinking the same thing, and I passed many Porsches as well.

Of the three Porsches I met in the parking lot on 17 Mile Drive, the green Porsche on the right also had its rear raised, and if I looked closely, the red Porsche on the left also had its rear spoiler raised.

I saw a few other cars with manual spoilers, so I thought, ``Is this a trend?''

By the way, I don't manually leave the rear spoiler up (I prefer it closed).

Various Pegasus at Porsche

At the event, we saw many people with Pegasus stickers on their Porsches.

Among them were a variety of other products, not just the so-called original Mobil Oil Pegasus.

This car has a reindeer next to the original...?

This is the white version of Pegasus.

What is this? I thought as I approached...

Porsche represented the situation that was still being drawn.

Pegasus has already turned into bones.

Flowers for this Porsche.

There was also Pegasus x3.

There were a lot of things going on, and it was fun to see them.

Also, something like this big plastic bag was used as a cover for the car when it started to rain a little. This is the photo on the back right↓

I thought it was a simple measure at event venues, but I saw people using plastic bags even in hotel parking lots.

Stripes on carbon roof

This is the car on display at the shop at the RR7 venue, and it was one of the cars I wanted to see at least once.

At first glance, it's an ordinary and cool Porsche.

This is what I wanted to see.

Yes, the roof is a carbon roof, but it has stripes. I can see it? ?

My Carrera T has a glass sunroof, so I don't have any stripes on the roof.

However, I had wondered what would happen if I added stripes to a black carbon roof, so it was great to see what it would look like if you added stripes to a black carbon roof.

Well, I could say that you wouldn't notice it unless you looked closely, but you can tell that there are stripes ^^

JEEP by rental car

To participate in RR7 this time, I first flew to San Francisco, then rented a car and headed to the town of Monterey, where Laguna Seca is located.

The car I rented this time is a JEEP, which is in the mid-size SUV category.

When I went to the prepared car, I noticed that even though it was a rental car, there was something like a decal on the hood, which was kind of cute ^^

I took advantage of the opportunity to take some photos in a sandy area near the beach and enjoyed life in the jeep.

It doesn't come with navigation, so I connect Android Auto and use navigation.

Also, speaking of Jeep, there are Easter eggs. (reference:Jeep is full of hidden characters. Looking for hidden characters for the next model)

Does this car have it too? That's what I thought, and there it was! At this yellow circle ↓

Here is what that part looks like from the outside. There is JEEP~↓

During my stay in America this time, I went to this Jeep.the person who leaves the duckAlthough I didn't see it ^^, it was a cute car that I became very attached to, probably because it had decals and was so distinctive.

The total distance traveled during the rental was 350 miles (approximately 563 km).

When you think of San Francisco, you think of hills.

First, I went to the city of San Francisco for a short time, so I rode the JEEP on some of the city's steepest hills.

Looking at the steep slopes...

I thought I'd try measuring it after all (lol).

A tilt mania suddenly appears in San Francisco.

I didn't measure it on the road that is said to have the steepest slope, I just measured it there, but the slope at this location was approximately 26.1%.

When I parked my car on a slope like this, I saw everyone bend their tires properly and thought it was admirable.

self-driving taxi

When I was running or walking around San Francisco, I often encountered cars equipped with cameras like this.

When I first saw it, I thought, ``Oh, Google Maps is taking data. Maybe I can take a picture of it, right?'' But since I see so many of them, I don't know. I started thinking about it, and when I took a closer look, I realized that it was an unmanned self-driving taxi.

Do you understand? Although it is driving normally on public roads, it is an unmanned self-driving car with no one in the driver's seat.

I was really surprised when I saw the car driving normally, changing lanes even though there was no one in the driver's seat. Too amazing! !

wild sea otter

Furthermore, the story has nothing to do with cars, but I really want to write about it, so please let me write about it.

I heard that you can see wild sea otters in Monterey, so I went to see them.

I heard that there are almost no sea otters in Japan anymore, so I thought it would be amazing to see them in the wild.

Go to the beach in Monterey and look for sea otters.

So, there it was!

I understand? ? She's holding a shell just like the image! ! cute.

The wild sea otter that was repeatedly sinking and resurfacing in the sea was really cute. I'm glad I was able to see it ^^

According to a local lady, the sea in Monterey is very beautiful, and there are many days when you can see clearly below the surface of the water, and the other day, a family of whales came who had wandered in after being chased by killer whales.

In fact, on this day I also saw a large black object in the sea, so it might have been a whale. It's nice to have so much nature.

car rental in america

On the day I returned to Japan, I first returned the rental car near the San Francisco Airport.

I was very satisfied with the JEEP that I rented this time, but when I saw the cars that were rented by other people, I thought they were cool too ^^

Is this from a Hertz rental car? ! So cool! At HertzI also rent cars like the Camaro ZL1.So I think it's part of that series ↓

However, when I said to the person who was renting this car, ``It's cool!'', he replied, ``It's cool, but the amount you were originally told and the amount actually charged are completely different, so I'll start now.'' I'm going to file a complaint!'' He seemed very angry.

Sorry for calling out to you at such an odd time...

I love Doritos

Lastly, it's definitely Doritos.

I bought Doritos from America, which I love so much, to death.

I knew Doritos and the cereal my kids wanted would be bulky, so I brought three suitcases with me (less than half of the stuff I actually needed for the trip was in one suitcase). (LOL) Anyway, I packed up a lot of Doritos, cereal, and other sweets on the way home.

It's been a long time since I've been to America, and I've eaten a variety of hamburgers, and every experience has been great.

This is really the end of the RR7 related blog. Thank you for staying with me until the end ^^
