80,767 Porsche sales in Q1 2023
Porsche sales worldwide for the first quarter (January to March) of 2023 have been announced. The total number of Porsche sales is "80,767 units".
This number is 18% up from the same period last year, which is a very good number.
Porsche seems very satisfied with the result, despite the still unstable economic situation and the lack of availability of all parts.
Significant increase in numbers in China and North America compared to the same period last year
Q1 2023 (January to March 2023)
Porsche worldwide sales
2022 | 2023 | Year-over-year basis | |
Worldwide | 68,426 | 80,767 | +18% |
Germany | 6,925 | 8,247 | +19% |
North America | 15,167 | 19,651 | +30% |
China | 17,685 | 21,365 | +21% |
Europe (other than Germany) | 16,186 | 18,420 | +14% |
Overseas/Emerging Markets | 12,463 | 13,084 | +5% |
Until last year, Japan was still in the category of "Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East", but from this time on, it is in the category of "Overseas and Emerging Markets". I'm kind of lonely
Well, as you can see from the above table, Porsche sales in the first quarter were 18,420 units in Europe (+14% compared to the same period last year), which does not include Germany and is 8,247 units in Germany alone (last year synchronous ratio +19%).
This alone seems to be a good number, but in China, 21,365 units were delivered, so this figure is +21% compared to the previous year. It is said that the reason why the numbers have improved is that the effects caused by the corona pandemic in China are recovering in various ways.
In addition, the number of sales in North America increased by 30% compared to the previous year, with 19,651 units sold.
In other regions, including Japan, 13,084 vehicles were delivered, up 5% from the previous year.
In the case of Japan, it's more like the car didn't come in the first place, rather than the sales being so-so.
After all SUV is popular
The number of new Porsche models delivered worldwide in the first quarter is as follows: After all, SUV models are popular.
surelyPorsche makes another K1I agree. It may be a little too big for the Japanese market, but there seems to be a need overseas ^ ^
Q1 2023 Porsche Worldwide
Unit sales by model
model | 2022 Q1 sales volume | 2023 Q1 sales volume | Year-over-year basis |
Macan | 18,329 | 23,880 | +30% |
Cayenne | 19,029 | 23,387 | +23% |
Taycan | 9,470 | 9,152 | -3% |
911 | 9,327 | 11,063 | +19% |
Panamera | 7,735 | 8,479 | +10% |
718 | 4,536 | 4,806 | +6% |
So, in the first quarter of 2023, Macan sold 23,880 units with +30% compared to the previous year, which is amazing.
The next largest number is the Cayenne SUV, with 23,387 units (up 23% from the previous year).
As you can see, the numbers of other models are as you can see, but only the Taycan is negative (-3%) compared to the previous year. The reason for this is that Porsche is said to have affected the Taycan in particular due to supply shortages.
Certainly, even though it is a highly recommended Porsche that says "Let's buy a Taikan", it seems that it was in a situation where it was difficult to produce even if you actually ordered a new car, so I think this is not just an excuse I think.

"We are focused on value-oriented growth. We always pursue the goal of producing one less vehicle than market demand."
I was told that, eh, is that so? I didn't know you had such a goal.
