Lamborghini GIRO Japan 2024 Record 5 (Day 3)

Final Day of GIRO Japan 2024

The final day of the 2 nights and 3 days of GIRO Japan 2024 has come quickly. This is the last GIRO Japan experience story on this blog. Thank you for reading for so long ^^

On the final day, we planned to travel further north from the Ritz-Carlton (where we stayed on the second day), which is located exactly in the center of Okinawa's main island, and tour to Cape Hedo, the northernmost point of Okinawa's main island.

However, as of the night before the final day, it was said that there was a possibility of heavy rain tomorrow that would trigger a warning, especially in the north, so the GIRO Japan staff had been holding repeated discussions about what to do about the touring route on the final day.

As a result, the tour to Cape Hedo scheduled for the morning of the final day was canceled, and because the cancellation of the tour had caused a delay in schedule, lunch at the Ritz-Carlton that had been planned afterwards also had to be canceled at the last minute.

On the final day, the plan was changed to just touring to Ryukyu Hotel & Resort Meijo Beach, which was originally planned as the final destination (disbandment location).

But, however.

On the last day, when heavy rain was predicted, I woke up and looked outside and thought, "Hmm? It looks like nice weather."

Since the morning plans were canceled, we started with a late breakfast and drivers' meeting.

Breakfast is served buffet style.

At the morning meeting that day, it was announced that there was indeed a possibility of heavy rain today, so to be safe the morning program would be canceled, but the tour to Ryukyu Hotel would still go ahead.

Lamborghini Japan's bold decision

The original plan was to go back and forth from Ritz to Cape Hedo to Ritz, then have lunch followed by a closing ceremony.

After the group disbanded, those who were staying at the Ritz-Carlton or another hotel would say their goodbyes there, while those heading straight to the airport would continue on from the Ritz to Ryukyu Hotel, where the group would disband (with transfers to the airport).

However, the morning trip from Ritz to Cape Hedo to Ritz was suddenly cancelled, so we decided to hold the farewell ceremony here in the morning.

Even though we had just finished the breakfast buffet, snacks were still served (lol).

Anyway, GIRO has no problem with food at all now ^^

Still, I thought Lamborghini Japan's decision this time was amazing.

If you think about it from the corporate perspective, it seems like it would be quite a difficult decision to suddenly cancel lunch at the Ritz-Carlton (and the restaurant staff told us that they were preparing a meal using plenty of Okinawan ingredients just for GIRO) the night before.

Even so, they decided to cancel the morning tour and lunch, citing the risk of driving if heavy rain were to occur.

I don't think it was an easy decision to make. They had prepared a map of the route to Cape Hedo in advance, and it must have been a lot of work, but now all of that will go unused.

But I thought it was great that Lamborghini was able to make that decision and make that decision.

If nothing happens, you might think, "I shouldn't have canceled," but it will be too late once something has happened.

GIRO Japan 2024 Closing Ceremony

At the closing ceremony, each participant's name was called out one by one and they received a certificate from Davide, President of Lamborghini Japan.

To each tool

After the farewell ceremony, as mentioned above, we split into two groups: those who decided to say goodbye at this point and those who decided to continue the tour to the Ryukyu Hotel.

Revuelto also came to see them off at the final Lambo gathering point.

When this Revuelto was unveiled on the first night, it was under indoor lighting so it appeared to be a lighter purple, but when seen in the sunlight it was actually a fairly deep purple.

Now, as for the plan from here, since we were planning to return to Tokyo that day, our group was originally going to tour to the Ryukyu Hotel and then be picked up and dropped off at the airport.

But you know.

We also decided to leave the official tour, that is, GIRO Japan, at this point.

What happened after you left?

Yes, I followed the captain!

The expedition leader... no, a person with amazing decision-making and judgment skills just like a captain gathered a few others together and decided, "Let's go to Cape Hedo, the northernmost point after all," and planned a separate tour.

It's the best.

GIRO Japan was able to disband at this point (those returning home on the same day could simply return to Ryukyu Hotel by a time determined based on their flight schedules), so after disbanding we were free to do as we pleased, and some of the volunteers headed out on a tour of Cape Hedo.

Of course, this is unofficial so use at your own risk.

We expressed our thanks and goodbyes to Lamborghini Japan and all the dealers who had been so kind to us over the past three days, and then set off for Cape Hedo.

※The sales representative also came with us on the tour after this, thank you very much ^^

When we left the Ritz-Carlton Okinawa, the hotel staff waved goodbye to us. Thank you again.

This time, after GIRO disbanded, there were five bikes, including ours, that joined us on the tour to Cape Hedo.

It seems there were also other groups who went on separate tours to different locations.

After that, the group split into two groups: those who remained at the hotel and those who enjoyed the rest of the GIRO Japan tour to Ryukyu Hotel.

It was a very pleasant drive heading north along the coast.

Cape Hedo, the northernmost point of Okinawa Island

We arrived at Cape Hedo in no time.

I'm glad I made it to the northernmost point of Okinawa Island.

The weather forecast, which warned of heavy rain, seemed like a lie, and it was probably the clearest day of the three days we went, and the weather was almost hot, making it feel the most Okinawan.

In the end, I owe it all to everyone who joined us, including our team leader who said "Let's go!", that we were able to have such a wonderful experience.

Thank you so much for a wonderful time.

We also took a commemorative photo with all five of our cars lined up. Wow, that's great. So cool.

We came to Okinawa Prefecture as GIRO Japan in a Lamborghini, and at the very end we were able to enjoy ourselves like this, going on a tour with everyone on our own, which was really fun and amazing.

Boy and Lamborghini

Of course, we had a great time coming to Cape Hedo, but there was another reason that made us think "it was good that I came."

That's this boy.

Can you see the boy looking at the Lambo between the cars?

Apparently, he (and his mother) had heard that Lamborghinis would be coming to Cape Hedo on that day, so they had come all the way to Cape Hedo just to see the Lamborghinis, and even spent the night in their car waiting for them to arrive.

Even though they were all so excited to meet Lambo and the others, the tour to Cape Hedo had actually been cancelled, so Lambo didn't come here as he should have.

However, the five cars led by the captain... although the 25 cars were reduced to just five, the five Lamborghinis still went to Cape Hedo, and the boy was able to see the Lamborghini.

Everyone let the boys ride in their cars and opened various things to show them, and the boys were really happy. That was the moment when I thought, "I'm really glad I came."

I hope that even when they grow up, they will remember this day when they met at least five Lamborghini here, rather than going home sad thinking, "I waited a long time and they didn't come."

I don't think I'll forget either.

The big Okinawa rail we saw from Cape Hedo is apparently the "Okinawa Rail Observation Deck." It's big.

The sea was also very beautiful.

I am truly grateful to everyone I met at GIRO Japan for the fun time I had with them right until the very end.

After this, we decided to act individually until it was time for us to return to Ryukyu Hotel (everyone had different hotel meeting times and schedules).

Leaving Cape Hedo behind, we head back the way we came.

The bridge we crossed yesterday can be seen in the distance.

Crossing that bridge in a line of Lamborghinis already seems like a distant memory.

After driving on a straight road for a while, it was time to say goodbye to everyone. Our house turned right after this.

After our house was finally the only one left, we headed here.

Before parking in this parking lot, even though we hadn't said anything, the attendant at the entrance to the lot kindly told us, "Oh, the other Lamborghini is parked on the third floor."

It seemed like there were other touring groups who had come to this place, so we went to the 3rd floor to line up our cars there too... but just at that moment, we saw the Lamborghini from the other groups leaving the place and heading towards the exit. What a shame.

Meet the whale sharks at Churaumi Aquarium

So, where did we end up?

Yes! !!

When I checked the GIRO Japan Okinawa program on the first day, I thought to myself, "I would like to go if I can, but it wasn't included in this program."

My wish came true.

And then, the meeting I had dreamed of.

I wanted to meet you, whale shark!!

Ah, I'm so happy.

I had always wanted to see a whale shark at the Churaumi Aquarium, so I was extremely happy when I got to see one.

If you have the time, you could probably stay in front of this huge tank forever.

…But we didn’t have much time so we left right away. Still, I was really happy to see the whale sharks even if only for a few minutes!

On the way to our next destination, we found ourselves surrounded by trucks entering and leaving the quarry.

Lamborghini to A&W Drive-In

Next we arrived here.

This was one of the places I wanted to go to if I had the time.

That place is A&W, and even the store that houses its drive-in.

I used to eat A&W in the US when I was younger, so I wanted to try it since I was going to Okinawa this time.

So, if GIRO had gone ahead as scheduled, we would have had to make the effort to take a later flight back so that we would have time to eat A&W at the airport after we disbanded in the evening.

However, this time, by chance, we had to leave early and do our own thing, so I thought, "If that's the case, I'd like to park my Lamborghini at the drive-in inside A&W and enjoy A&W even more."

I also had a hamburger, but what I wanted to eat most at A&W was the Chili Cheese Curly Fries.

In the old days (in America), you could only order the Chili Cheese Curly Fries by itself, but now they also add chips to the Chili Cheese Curly Fries. No, I don't think we need that information (lol).

By the way, I don't like root beer, so I went with orange juice, another A&W staple.

After enjoying our fill of A&W, it was nearly time to return to the Ryukyu Hotel, so we headed back to the hotel.

We got caught in a light rain shower on our way back to Ryukyu Hotel, but thankfully it only lasted for a short time while we were driving back that day.

When I arrived at the Ryukyu Hotel and looked at the parking space where we had been parking our Lamborghinis until recently, I saw the Lamborghinis already being loaded onto a transporter.

It seems that the company that transported (and arranged for the transportation of) the Lamborghinis from all over the country to Okinawa Prefecture has already begun work to return the Lamborghinis to their respective locations across the country.

And this time, the company that transported us between the airport and the hotel in Okinawa was the same company that transported the Lamborghinis. Thank you very much.

We left our Lamborghini at the Ryukyu Hotel and headed to the airport again in our Audi.

Thank you for allowing me to participate in GIRO Japan 2024

I had a really great time participating in GIRO Japan 2024.

I am also very grateful to everyone I met and had the opportunity to spend such a wonderful time with. It was a great honor to be able to spend such a wonderful time with you.

As I wrote at the very beginning, I don't think I'll ever send a Lamborghini to Okinawa Prefecture and drive around there again.

Just the experience of "driving through Okinawa in a Lamborghini" was an incredibly valuable one, but I think this year's GIRO Japan was much more than that. It was the whole experience of enjoying the Lamborghinis with everyone else, and sharing and enjoying the time outside of just the driving, that made it the best time ever.

Guava juice at the airport at the very end ^^

This GIRO experience also gave us the opportunity to spend more time than usual with the Cornes sales representative who normally looks after our home.

For a while after I returned to Tokyo, whenever I looked around I had the illusion that I might meet one of the participants again.

During these three days and two nights, no matter where I was, if I happened to look, I was sure to meet and talk with one of the participants. We were truly a family. (But why does writing this sound like Dom from The Fast and the Furious (lol)?)

Thank you to Lamborghini Japan, Cornes Shiba, all the other dealers, everyone involved in the operation, and everyone who participated for a truly fun, wonderful, and memorable GIRO Japan 2024!
