On September 1, 2026, Porsche unveiled the 'Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport,' a model exclusive to Austria, France, Italy, and Switzerland, as previously announced.
This time, it was a very rare Porsche press release announcing a limited edition model, but it included a disclaimer stating that permission must be obtained before posting photos of the car. Well, the first thing that surprised me was that this GT3 Bergsport wasn't the ducktail GT3 that had been rumored for a while.
This is the rumored ducktail GT3 ↓
Around the same time that the ducktail GT3 was spotted, information about an unreleased model called "GT3 Bergsport" was temporarily posted on Porsche Austria's official website, and then later removed. This might have led to the rumor that the ducktail was the ducktail model, a misunderstanding due to the coincidence of timing.
Will we see a GT3 with a ducktail spoiler?
So that means... yes, that ducktail GT3 is probably a different model, and it's possible it might be released as a limited edition someday.
That's because it had already been built and tested in a state of near-perfect completion, and Jörg Bergmeister had even test-driven it.
There are rumors that the next Porsche 911 GT3 will be released as the '992.3', rather than a new 99x model like the 994. So, perhaps a ducktail version will be released with the 992.3?

Now, let's take a look at the GT3 Bergsport that was announced. However, since there had been rumors earlier that it would have a ducktail spoiler, I get the impression that some people (including myself) were disappointed when the actual GT3 Bergsport was announced and thought, "It doesn't have a ducktail spoiler."
And the GT3 turned out to be much more subdued than I had expected...
What is the Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport?
The details announced are as follows:
- The 911 GT3 features interior and exterior design elements inspired by the Alps region and Porsche's history of participating in European hill climb races.
- Inspired by the majestic Alpine landscape and the joy many people experience driving on its iconic mountain roads, the GT3 Bergsport is a production model that will be available in Austria, France, Italy, and Switzerland.
- Based on the current 911 GT3 Touring Package, this model was developed by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.
- The transmission is a 6-speed manual only.
- Limited production of 100 units
- The world premiere of this car will take place at the Arosa ClassicCar Hill Climb in Switzerland.
- On September 3, 2026, Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister will drive on a course that is 7.3 kilometers long, reaches an altitude of 422 meters, and features 76 corners.
- The body color is Valley Green Metallic, a new color for PTS, created specifically for this model.
- With rich tones that capture the deep green and earthy hues of the mountains, the golden metallic particles shimmer in the sunlight, reminiscent of the sparkle of freshly fallen snow under the Alpine sun.
- The lightweight package includes durable forged aluminum wheels instead of the magnesium forged wheels that come with the standard package.
- This configuration achieves exceptional agility while also ensuring greater durability against the harsh conditions encountered on Alpine mountain passes.
- The forged aluminum wheels are painted in satin white gold and Ceramica.
- The brake calipers are a vibrant orange color.
- Equipped with a front axle lift system.
- Fuel tank capacity: 90 liters

- The checkerboard flag motif on the front luggage compartment lid is inspired by the 908 Bergspyder.
- The badge on the B-pillar reads "GT3 Bergsport".
- The engine compartment cover features a badge design incorporating the four peaks of the Alps, representing the four Alpine countries, and a winding road with mountains in the background.
- A special edition of Curves Magazine, created specifically to commemorate the announcement of the GT3 Bergsport, will also be released in a limited run of 1,000 copies.
GT3 Bergsport Interior Details
- The lightweight package includes reclining carbon fiber bucket seats in a custom Valley Green leather color.
- There are also rear seats.
- The headrests feature orange decorative stitching and the lettering "GT3".
- The design, inspired by the mountains, is also reflected in the decorative stitching on the doors and the top of the dashboard.
- By alternating black and white threads, a stylish mountain peak silhouette is expressed in cross-stitch.
- The light design package provides ambient lighting.
