911 GT3 50 Years Porsche New Zealand: 911 GT3 Touring Package

Well, it seems like Porsche is releasing a lot of regionally limited edition models.

This time, Porsche New Zealand announced a commemorative model developed exclusively for the New Zealand market in collaboration with Sonderwunsch, as the company will celebrate its 50th anniversary in New Zealand in 2026.

Porsche New Zealand, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in Aotearoa (Maori for New Zealand) in 2026, is in celebration mode this year to commemorate its 50-year history.

Among all the celebratory events, the highlight was this special anniversary model.

The goal was to create a car that could only be born in New Zealand—a car that reflects New Zealand's roads, culture, and the people who have supported the brand's success for over 50 years. The result is the "911 GT3 50 Years Porsche New Zealand."

Only five of these cars will be sold worldwide, and each of the five cars is said to symbolize a different decade in the 50 years since Porsche was first introduced to New Zealand (although all five cars are identical in specifications).

All five cars were developed in collaboration with the Sonderwunsch division.

New Zealand is famous for its winding coastal roads, mountain roads, and picturesque driving scenery, so in order to fully immerse myself in the driving experience in such places, I deliberately chose a wingless GT3 (a 911 GT3 with the 992.2 Touring Package).

Furthermore, given that New Zealand is an island nation with a deeply rooted nautical culture, they sought a color that would suit it, and since the first Porsche imported to New Zealand was blue, the body color was chosen as PTS Yachting Blue Metallic.

This color is also used on the exterior mirrors, front air intakes, and custom wheel details.

The interior features seat inserts made of blue Pepita fabric, and embossed "50 Years Porsche New Zealand" lettering on the headrests and throughout the cabin.

Furthermore, all five of these Porsches bear the signature of the late Sir Colin Giltrap, whose passion for Porsche laid the foundation for Porsche's presence in New Zealand. He appears to be the person who officially introduced Porsche to New Zealand.

The price for this Porsche 911 GT3 50th Anniversary New Zealand Special Edition starts at 584,000 New Zealand dollars (approximately 54.84 million yen).

Vehicle deliveries are scheduled to begin after the commemorative ceremony to be held in Auckland in September 2026.

The commemorative ceremony is planned to be a grand celebration in Auckland, where Porsche owners will gather at Sir Colin Giltrap Raceway, then tour to the Viaduct Event Centre to display their beloved cars.

The program will include a public viewing of the commemorative 911 GT3 that was announced, as well as a Porsche 917 "Kurzheck" that was specially airlifted from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart to New Zealand.

Recently, there have been several regionally limited edition Porsche 911s, each with its own unique design. This New Zealand version, however, seems quite understated. I think the Yachting Blue Metallic paint is lovely, and the simplicity is appealing.
