What I was most happy about at Rennsport Reunion 7
This is finally the end of my experience with RR7. It's been a long time until the very end, but thank you for sticking with me so far ^^
This time in RR7, I was surrounded by so many Porsches and so many people who love Porsches, and I had a really fun time in a dream-like world.
One of the things that made me happy about being in RR7 was of course being able to meet so many Porsches, but also being able to see with my own eyes people who until now were just people in the media who had a distant existence. It was a very moving experience to be able to see it in person.
Ferdi Porsche, son of Dr. Wolfgang Porsche...
The person in charge of the Porsche GT model, Andreas Preuninger, was right in front of me. Impressed.
“Wow, Andreas!!” I screamed in my head, for real. That was cool~^^
Meanwhile, here are the events that left the most impression on me, the most moving, and the most enjoyable during my RR7 experience.
You dream it. We build it.
That's right, I met a certain person who was central to creating the Porsche 911 that I love.
He was the top developer of the 911 and 718 as Mr.911.Mr. Frank (Mr. Frank-Steffen Walliser)An encounter with
As I was walking through the event venue, I happened to pass by each other.
The moment we passed each other, I thought, "Huh?" and then I thought, "Huh? Could that be Frank?"
At that point, I couldn't wait anymore, so I made a U-turn to Frank and said, ``Ah, are you Mr. Walliser?''
As it turned out, it was the person himself, so I was moved and moved, and my mind instantly went into a huge panic.
In my head, I've already told many things, such as, ``You fought internally to make the 911 an ICE until the end,'' and ``You fought to keep the manual transmission on the 911.'' There are so many things I want to do and things I want to express my gratitude for.
But I didn't know where to start, so all I could say was, ``Thank you for making the 911!'' (laughs)
I'm sure they thought, "No, I didn't make it," but they seemed to understand the love for 911 behind those words, and they accepted me very kindly. It was.
It was a moving and moving experience.
For me, the happiest part of participating in RR7 was being able to actually meet Frank, who I had only seen his name and photo in the media, and being able to express my love for 911s and express my gratitude to him. That's what happened.
It was good to go. I'm glad I happened to pass by Frank (tears).
Things left unfinished with RR7
I was able to meet Frank by chance, and I was deeply moved (in fact, my legs started shaking while we were talking ^^), but it's a shame. There was one thing I couldn't accomplish.
That means meeting Porsche Ambassador Mark Webber.
We met once in Indiana a long time ago. This is a photo from that time↓
At this time, Mark was still driving a Jaguar in F1, and I didn't really understand the po-shape of Porsche.
However, that person was Mark, who was present as a Porsche ambassador when I became addicted to Porsche, so I was thinking that if you were here, I would like to meet him again through "Porsche".
At RR7, there was an autograph session where many legendary drivers gathered together and signed autographs, so I was wondering if I would be able to meet them there...
Mark didn't come (tears).
I don't know if he wasn't there just this time, or if he came late, but I wasn't able to meet him when I went, so I'll defer my desire to meet him to another time.
If you want to meet Frank, the day will come when you will, so it is important to wish.
RR7 experienced Porsche hardship, crowded Porsche lifestyle shop
The weather was good on the days I went to RR7 this time, and I was able to complete almost everything in fun and comfortable conditions, but the only thing that was a bit difficult was the first night of my participation ( It got cold during the Transformers screening) and it was the morning of the second day of my participation.
Because this RR7.
The Porsche Lifestyle store opens at 8 a.m., but there's already a long line from 7 a.m., and the line continues forever from there until closing time. .
Therefore, on the first day, I was reluctant to wait in line, but on the second day I was determined to line up at this lifestyle shop from the beginning of the morning, thinking, ``I'll be lining up in the morning!''
However, the morning two days before I participated, it started to rain quite heavily and it got extremely cold, so it was really hard to stand in line without moving (without an umbrella).
It's cold and the only protection from the rain is the hood of my jacket. On the way, I thought to myself, ``Maybe I don't need to look at the shops anymore,'' but when I saw American people who seemed less accustomed to waiting in line (than Japanese people) waiting in line for hours every day, After all, I wanted to take a look inside, so I just put up with the rain.
The moment the rain got so bad, I didn't have the energy to talk anymore and just kept my head down and endured it. I kept my head down and didn't move, thinking, ``When will this penance end?'' Just like the emperor penguin in winter in Antarctica.
Up until now, I had almost never had a hard time in the rain at Porsche events, so I was wondering why rain at an event can be so difficult, and it was the first experience in my Porsche life (?) that I thought was a hardship.
I was in line for about an hour and a half, and I think it rained about half of that time, but it was still painful.
And in the meantime.
One of the participants from Japan was at the front of the same line, but on the way he went out of his way to bring hot coffee to us who were at the back.
I will never forget the taste and warmth of this coffee (tears). The moment he turned back from an emperor penguin to a human.
I somehow managed to enter the Porsche Lifestyle Shop while feeling such "Porsche camaraderie".
I was surprised when I went inside.
That's because there weren't that many products (lol). Probably, if you look into anyone's heart at this moment, you can see a glimmer of the thought, ``What, that's why you stood in line in that cold?''
Well, this is something that I can only understand because I joined the program, and if I hadn't joined the program, I think I would have regretted not joining, even though the people around me would have told me, "It wasn't a big deal." It was good.
Like thismuffler type speakerI was able to hear the real thing and the actual sound, so I had a good experience ^^
I had wanted to buy a Transformers version minicar, but I didn't have anything like that...but I was glad that I was able to buy some things to commemorate the RR7.
What's more, people who purchase products here will receive their products in something like this eco bag, so just having this bag is a bit of a treat. I think it will be useful when I have a lot of luggage when participating in a Porsche event in the future ^^
By the way, I was glad that the weather was already nice after I left the shop ^^
Even RR7 has a connection with Porsche.
The fact that I was able to overcome my hardships with Porsche because of the kindness of the people I connected with was an event that made me realize how lucky I was to have fallen in love with Porsche.
Even though I started out loving Porsches, driving them, and looking at Porsches, I found myself blessed with many connections made by Porsches.
Now, I realize that the many people I have been able to connect with through Porsche have been the most fun and happy thing in my life, and have become a wonderful part of my life.
In addition to the person who gave me this coffee this time, two other people I know from Japan were also participating in RR7.
Since we were on the same plane as those people, we started by greeting each other at Haneda Airport and then met up again on RR7, so I was able to meet people I had known for a long time on RR7. It was very reassuring and fun to have that moment, and I was grateful for all the information they shared with me.
I was also able to meet up with some of my Porsche mechanic friends who had come from the US to this event.
I can't believe the day will come when we can meet again at a Porsche event in America and look at Porsche together.
This RR7 was really stimulating for me in many ways, and it opened up a new world of Porsche in front of me more than ever before, and I'm glad I went, which is hard to put into words. It was an experience.
There are still many Porsches that I haven't been able to post yet, so I'd like to start by posting a few photos here.
I even saw the cup cars coming back after the Carrera Cup, and all the Porsches were impressive and really cool!
Furthermore, when I looked at this from a distance, I thought, ``Is this a safari?'' But to my surprise, it turned out to be Targa! ?
The fender was cut off as if nothing had happened. amazing.
Where exactly have you been running?
If you take a closer look at this 356...
Is there a pumpkin on the roof? There was something with 356 written on it, which was funny. cute.
For some reason, there were some large parts that had been removed and left on the side of the road.
This design is eye-catching (lol)↓
The GT3-R, colored by AO Racing for the 2023 IMSA season, is Tyrannosaurus-spec. Its name is "GT3-Rawr".
This 962 also has a mini-sized vehicle (although it seems to work properly), and it was cute to see it side by side with the actual vehicle.
As I was looking at the miniature cars, a driver got into the actual car, and then it dashed off toward the truck.
The sight of everyone running so quickly was also amazing, almost unrealistic.
This Porsche was displayed as a tribute to dear people who represent the heart and soul of Rennsport↓
The dear ones seemed to be all former racing drivers (in no particular order: Vic Elford, Bob Ingram, Dennis Aase, Joe Buzzetta, Hans Mezger, John Paul Jr., Danny Ongais, Bernd Harling).
Another thing that personally struck me was the crest attached to this red Porsche.
What I wear on my Carrera TCompletely monochrome crestHowever, the crest attached to this Porsche is a little hard to tell in the photo, but it was a ``crest with the gold part turned silver.''
In other words, the whole thing is silver, but only the black and red parts are still colored. This is the first time I've seen this type.
There was also a large tent area with IMSA's technical center written on it.
I guess this is where I get my vehicle inspected.
Michelin tire tent too.
This huge BOSE booth is an E-sports arena, with a simulator inside.
Depending on the time, the semi-finals and finals of the Porsche Esports Challenge USA were also held.
The size of the trucks parked everywhere was amazing.
Gas station in Laguna Seca.
This time, I only used the restroom inside the building, but there were many temporary toilets installed in the outside area as well, so even though there were 91,000 visitors over the four days, there were still many temporary toilets. I don't think anyone was bothered by the lack of it.
This time Porsche Rennsport Reunion 7.
In addition to looking at the Porsches on display or parked, there was always some kind of driving program going on, and I was able to watch them from everywhere.
Everyone was able to watch their favorite races and driving programs from wherever they wanted, whether it was before the straight, at each corner, or at the corkscrew, and I think the participants were able to spend their time doing what they wanted to do.
Some people were sitting leisurely watching the games, others were just looking at the cars on display, and others were having a good time drinking with friends.
All of the participants gathered here in Laguna Seca with the commonality of ``I like Porsches and have an interest in Porsches,'' so the communication between people here was also the best. It was an experience.
When I was watching an artist's talk show, an old man sitting at the same table showed me his own drawings from his smartphone and said, ``I draw as a hobby, too,'' and we started a conversation. It expanded and eventually led to a somewhat moving story.
I spent 1.5 days thinking about Porsche, the people connected to it, and the vast Laguna Seca.
It was a wonderful experience.
There was only one thing I could think of.
"I'm glad I went" ^^
I strongly felt that I would like to continue doing what I want to do as much as possible. I think this experience will lead to a happy Porsche life in the future.
This concludes the 2023 Porsche Rennsport Reunion 7 experience. This is a really long story of my experience, but I would like to thank everyone who took the time to read it.
Thank you very much!
