I met the electric Cayman (EV Cayman): 718 Cayman GT4 e-Performance

Posted: Posted:

Porsche Experience Center Tokyo 2nd Anniversary Event

On this day, I drove to Kisarazu in Carrera T.

When I think of the destination in Kisarazu where I drive my Porsche, it's usually here at Porsche Experience Center Tokyo (PEC Tokyo).

Even when you park your car in the parking lot and walk to the entrance, there are some kind of lights that look a little futuristic.

The reason why I headed to PEC Tokyo on this day was that two of my acquaintances were going to run in a 90-minute time frame, so I went to see them.

...That's one of the reasons.

Cayman GT4 ePerformance

Another reason (oh, this is the main one ^^?) is that this day was the day of PEC Tokyo's 2nd anniversary event.

The car that came to PEC Tokyo to commemorate its 2nd anniversary was this "718 Cayman GT4 ePerformance". EV Cayman is a fully electric car.

The blue rear lights are so cool! !

On this day, a few lucky people who applied in advance and won a lottery with an amazing chance were able to test drive the GT4 e-Performance.

According to what I heard, there were over 300 applications for the 12 passenger slots. Awesome~

The driver was the instructor who had come to Japan with this Cayman, and the participants were required to ride in the passenger seat and wear helmets and racing suits.

It seems that racing suits are also available for rent, and they have ones for GT4 e-Performance. ↓

This is a video of GT4 e-Performance running at PEC Tokyo. The sound it makes when it accelerates a little on the way back is really amazing.

This time, one of the people selected for this ride-along experience was an acquaintance of mine, so I talked to him after he got on the ride, and after he got out of the car after the ride, he said, It was as if my mind was completely blank, and I thought, ``Oh, that must have been an amazing experience'' (lol).

In fact, since the electric Cayman is lighter (approximately 1,600 kg) than the Taycan, the G that is applied during corner acceleration seems to be completely different.

Well, I thought the Taycan was amazing, so I think it would be a mind-blowing experience if it became an even lighter BEV with racing car specifications.

After the test drive of the GT4 ePerformance, all tires were removed and the car was checked by a mechanic.

Charging too.

Charging was interesting, and the green part of the light on the rear shows the "current charging capacity." The leftmost one is 0% and the right one is 100%.

In other words, judging from the position of this green light, the charging status at this time is about 65%.

When connected to the charger, a blue light moves toward this green light to indicate that it is charging, and as charging progresses, the green light moves toward the 100%.

It's a small thing, but I really like how stylish it is and how much attention is paid to it ^^

Wing adjustment also spans multiple stages.

There were also several sets of tires...

Did you run at PEC Tokyo (not a circuit) so much that you got so much tire scum? ! If so, that's too amazing...

*Of course, this is allowed because it is driven by a professional instructor.

This time, after the drive was over, there was a presentation where I had the opportunity to see the actual car in front of me, so I was able to see a lot of things at that time.

America the other dayI was shown it at Laguna Seca as well. However, there were many staff members around the car at that time, so I wasn't able to take a close look at it as much as I did this time, so I was glad that I was able to take a closer look at it ^^

When you look at the front crest, it's silver!

It was a sticker to save weight, but still myCarrera T Silver CrestI was very happy because it was the same as ^^

announced the other dayVision 357's crest is also monochromeSo, maybe Silvercrest is hot right now? ? (No, I'm just happy about it (lol))

The front was wide open...

Is this filter somehow? Is that what you're looking for on the back of a Showa era home appliance (refrigerator, outdoor unit, etc?)? Something like that.

The inside of the car is at a level that I can't understand at all even if I look at it.

Light doors tend to close unless someone holds them down.

Also, there was something that appeared to be the computer of the mechanic who came to Japan with this GT4, and there were stickers saying ``Made in Flacht'' and ``Mission R'' on it, which made me wonder. I thought it was nice ^^

This time, there was also a presentation from Mr. Oliver, who is the manager of GT4 ePerformance.

The content is about the electrification of customer racing.

There are still issues to be cleared, such as the need to develop infrastructure before holding a race with EV cars, and the fact that GT4 e-performance now requires at least six engineers to accompany the team. I was told that it is necessary.

I wanted to ask each of the six engineers what they were doing, but I didn't have the time to ask them.

Also, I personally spoke to Oliver when he was free, and I checked to see if the GT4 ePerformance that came to Japan this time was the same as the one I saw at Laguna Seca the other day.

I had confirmed somewhere in advance that this GT4 would be transported in a Schenker container, so I also checked and recorded the GT4 e-Performance container at Laguna Seca (nerd (lol)) ).

That's it here. This is from Laguna Seca. ↓

I also checked the container that came to PEC Tokyo the other day, but the number on the container was different, so I thought it was a different vehicle, so I asked Oliver about it.

“Currently, there are only two GT4 e-Performances in the entire world.”

I was told that the GT4 that came to Japan this time was a different car from the one that was at Laguna Seca the other day.

Mr. Oliver says that this GT4 e-Performance can only be transported by ship from an ecological point of view, so this time the vehicle arrived by ship from Singapore, and after that it was taken by ship again to China (I think Guangzhou City). He said he was going.

Since it is a BEV, is it difficult to transport it by air? That's what I thought, but the reason is ecology.

Mr. Oliver also told me, ``(You) have seen both of the only two Cayman GT4 ePerformance cars in the world!'' and I was moved by how luxurious that was. I'm here.

There were some people who went to Laguna Seca with me that day, so we all grinned and said, "I saw both cars!"

Lunch at Restaurant 906

After thoroughly enjoying the fully electric EV Cayman, I had lunch with everyone who was with me that day at Restaurant 906 in PEC Tokyo.

In addition to the usual cute 911 type butter, there was also a crest type butter.

The food at 906 changes little by little each time I come, and this time too, when the bread was first served, it was sprinkled with rock salt, which wasn't there the last time I came, and this butter was placed on top. , and for those who want more saltiness, it can be eaten even more deliciously (sorry, I forgot to take a photo. The butter photos posted here are just for refills).

The table mat has also changed from the previous one, which was a piece of paper with 906 written on it.

This day's lunch is a lunch set, so you can choose one appetizer, main, and dessert of your choice + an after-meal drink.

Normally, I tend to order a meat dish as a main dish, but on this day, the pasta (I think it was called Penne Gratin) was served with lobster sauce, so as a lobster bisque fan, I decided to order a lobster sauce. Isn't the penne gratin sauce the best?'' I chose this one.

In fact, it was delicious with a strong lobster flavor and a variety of seafood including mussels.

However, even for someone like me who is a big eater, the amount was quite large, so I was already full (the bowl was deep and there was more than it looked) ^^

Mango pudding for dessert.

I thought the red part might have a sour taste from passion fruit, but it wasn't sour at all and was sweet and delicious.

Congratulations on the 2nd anniversary of PEC Tokyo

Porsche Experience Center TokyoOpening on October 1, 2021Did.

It's already been two years since I was excited and thought, "Wow, such a facility can be built in Japan!" ? ?

Certainly the new 992.1 GT3RS that was on display that dayAnnounced on August 17, 2022After that, deliveries have finally started in Japan, so I feel like time is passing really quickly.

PEC is held every month in Tokyo.morning missionThe next day was already the 10th time.

I would like to start by congratulating PEC Tokyo on its 2nd anniversary, reminding me once again that if I live my life in a state of obscurity every day, I will turn into an old woman in no time (lol).

Congratulations on your 2nd anniversary ^^

PEC Tokyo Yoshino cherry tree growth record

Lastly, the Yoshino cherry tree, which I check on growing every time I come to PEC Tokyo.

This Yoshino cherry tree will be planted on October 1, 2022.1st anniversary of PEC TokyoThis is a commemorative tree commemorating the 2019 anniversary of the cherry blossoms, which turned 1 year old.

It had grown quite large. I look forward to continued growth in the future.

Thank you for a fun day ^^
