60th anniversary of Porsche 911, 75th anniversary of Porsche (company), 80th birthday of Mr. Wolfgang Porsche
Since the beginning of the year, I have been living a lazy life without writing a blog, so I have not been able to organize what Mr. Oliver Blume said in various media during that time.
I'm finally going to take a look at it a little more seriously (late)!
2023 is an eventful year for Porsche, and here are some of the highlights:
- Porsche 911 celebrates 60th anniversary
- Porsche celebrates 75th anniversary as a company
- Wolfgang Porsche, son of Ferry Porsche (Ferdinand Porsche), celebrates 80th birthday
Since it will be a year when such big anniversaries are waiting, I think that Porsche is considering various events, surprises, limited models, etc.
Isn't that what it is? No, I'm sure Porsche will do something ^ ^!
For the time being, I would like to briefly summarize what Mr. Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche AG, was talking about this year-end and New Year holidays.
The content that was told will be the story to the shareholders and the content that was answered in media interviews.
What Oliver Blume said: Adding a hybrid model to the Porsche 911
- Despite being the CEO of the VW Group, he announced that he would continue to be the CEO of Porsche.
- About the electrification of Porsche cars → Offering a combination of ICE, hybrid and electric vehicles across the lineup
- Cayenne and Panamera also have ICE and hybrids, Macan moves to electric, Taycan is already an electric car
- 718 goes electric, Porsche adds very sporty hybrid model to 911
- 911 will be a model that runs on internal combustion engines as much as possible
Oh oh.
After reiterating that the 911 will stick to the internal combustion engine to the very end, it was completely stated that a hybrid model would be added to the 911.
"Blume said Porsche will add "a very sporty hybridization to the 911"" and "We will have the offer of combustion engines and hybrid in the 911".
In other words, the 911 hybrid model will be "added" to the 911 lineup, and in addition to the conventional gasoline engine vehicle, a hybrid 911 model will also be released.
It seems that the story that the Porsche 911 will be hybridized was first rumored 14 years ago.
A quick look at its history:
- In 2009, the first spy shots of a 911 with a lightning bolt sticker on the bonnet (the one you see on hybrid/electric cars when you test drive them) are taken. The running sound was almost silent.
- In 2014, Porsche was said to have once excluded 911 hybridization, and in 2017, a reexamination started again.
- In 2018, Mr. Oliver said, "(Hybrid 911) will be the most powerful 911 ever," but after that in 2020, the engineering is very difficult.
- At that time, it was said that the 911 hybrid would be released in 2023, but I wondered if that would be the case.
It seems that it is.
Although it was asserted that a hybrid will be added, I wonder if it will be announced within 2023. No, even if the time is decided, I won't tell you ^ ^
Consider more off-road models, 1970s & 1980s-inspired models and luxury SUVs
I would like to continue what Oliver said:
- In addition to hybridizing the 911, we are also focusing on synthetic fuel development
- Further off-road special models will be added in the future.
- By confirming people's needs for off-road models with the limited 2,500 911 Dakar, the door was opened to consider a new off-road specification 911.
- Looking at sports shoes from the 1970s and 1980s, I thought, "Porsche can do this," and released the 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design and 911 60th Edition (Sport Classic).
- I'm also considering models inspired by the 1970s and 1980s, hehehe. (I don't know if I laughed (laughs))
- very much in the futureLuxury SUV model range will also come out
- Hypercars have always been one of Porsche's strategies, and will come out when the time comes, but nothing has been decided at this point.
- No F1 entry has been discussed at this time
So that you can create your own original body color with your name
- In a little while you will be able to make your own body color with your name on it
Hmm, this seems to be different from PTS Plus (Click here for PTS Plus).
It seems that it will be a one-time color for the person who ordered it, so maybe the process will be shorter than PTS Plus?
There was no detailed explanation other than "I will be able to do it soon", so I don't know any more.
Anyway, as for the future 911, it's refreshing to know that the model that runs on gasoline will still be the center, and that the hybrid model will come out in addition to it.
I was interested in thinking that the hybrid 911 would be amazing.
If you were told that "the future 911 will only be a hybrid", you would have been able to say "Okay, let's try a 911 hybrid!" Hmmm (laughs).
After all, it seems that I will still choose them ^ ^
