Porsche: Porsche ◆ My Porsche 718 Boxster GTS

I was considering replacing the hood of the 718 Boxster

Posted: Posted:

I want to change Boxster's blue hood to black hood

When I wrote that the 718 Boxster GTS was deliveredAs I wrote in , I was particular about the hood of the convertible, no matter what color the body was, "black is good".

Therefore, although the encounter with the 718 Boxster this time was the best, for me, "The hood is blue?? Blue hood?"

It's not that I don't like Aoporo. It's not that I don't like the combination of red and blue.

However, I have a particular preference that the hood should be black, so for example, even the generally popular "white body x red hood" can be used when looking at other people's cars. I think it's nice, but I'm particular about making the hood black for my car.

Even so, the 718 this time has become a car that I really want more than the fact that the hood is not black, so I bought it immediately while muttering, "Is the hood blue?"

So, this is where my fuss started.

I'm very happy with my purchase, but I can't help but worry that the "hood is blue" still remains in a corner of my head. Every time I met everyone at the Porsche Center, I was making a fuss, saying, "The hood is blue! I want to change it to black!"

I decided to replace the hood with a black one, and started researching the hood replacement.

Of course it is possible to exchange it if you ask the Porsche Center, but it seems to be a little expensive, so I gave up.

After all, this is also a selfish story, but if the hood is broken, there is no choice but to replace it. Replace the existing hood."

It's really selfish, but "I'm reluctant to change something that doesn't need to be changed, even at the cost of spending a lot of money...but I want to change it." ultimate selfishness.

A genuine one would be too expensive, so I was desperate to find a place that would replace the hood cheaply instead of a genuine one.

So what I ended up doing was:

Ask Porsche owners and related parties who are likely to have information about hood exchange if they do not know where Boxster hood exchange is cheaper than genuine.

result: I tried to inquire at the shop that I was told about, but gave up because the price was lightly over 500,000.

Ask an overseas Porsche technician who got acquainted through SNS which manufacturer's hood is good for replacing the hood of the 718 Boxster if it is not genuine (if you can get a replacement hood cheaply from overseas) , a strategy to purchase a hood from overseas).

result: I looked at the products you told me about, and they were aftermarket ones starting at a little over $2,000. I received advice that it would be better to make it an OEM product if I change it.

And the OEM hood is about $3,500 or more including tax.

In that case, the shipping fee to Japan, and the dollar exchange rate was already the worst when I was considering it, so even just the hood alone would be expensive, and I would like to send it to someone in Japan. There is also a labor charge for installing it... If that happens, the result will be expensive, so I gave up.

At this time, that person also advised that if the hood was replaced with a non-genuine one, even Porsche with a warranty would not be covered by the warranty on the convertible top part, so be careful.

Nununu, sure! I hadn't thought of that. Thank you very much for letting me know.

Search the net and inquire where you can replace the hood in Japan.

result: As a result of inquiring to shops that are likely to exchange some hoods nationwide (even though it is in Honshu), 718 Boxster's hood exchange is not supported, after all the price is around 500,000 I gave up because it was.

But only one.

One of the inquiries I received was "convertible lab] Only the exchange with Mr. remained in me until the very end.

That's because the price was the cheapest among the ones I inquired about (about 400,000 yen including all labor costs), and above all, the response was very kind and polite.

They were kind enough to help me with my selfish hood replacement, and they carefully explained the difference between the hood to be replaced and the genuine product with photos. bottom.

In fact, I thought that the hood shown in the photo and explanation would be no problem even if it was replaced, and after that, when I talked to people related to Porsche, "Acquaintances are also convertible research institutes He also told me that it was good that he changed the hood at

"Convertible Research Institute if you want to replace Boxster's hood"

It has been decided.

By the way, Convertible Research Institute's company address was Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, but beforeExperience driving around all prefectures in the BMW stamp rally (twice)When I thought about it, I thought, ``If you do it in Sendai, it's close!'' (laughs).

However, this was also a good miscalculation. In fact, even if you don't go to Sendai, there are construction agencies all over the country, so you can do construction in a place closer than Sendai. It's convenient.

I will stay in Aoporo

After writing this far, I'm sure you're all thinking, "Oh, so you're going to replace it with a black hood at the Convertible Research Institute?"

I had already made up my mind (?) to say, "I'm going to exchange!"

What a selfish series of commotions.

The reason is that even if you tell everyone who met 718 Boxster "I'm thinking of changing the hood to black":

"Eh, it's fine as it is now, isn't it?"
"It's nice to have red and Aohoro, which is rare."
"Isn't this black? (Actually, it looks almost black indoors, in the evening, or when the sun is too strong.)"

And so on, everyone said, "Isn't it necessary to change?"

And one more thing that was advised that "the warranty will not work".

It was almost unheard of to hear that the hood was broken in the 718 Boxster GTS, so it's probably okay, but I'm wondering if I should dare to replace it until the warranty is invalidated.

Furthermore, the reason why it was the final decision was that after driving it many times, I began to think that the red body and Aotoro were the characteristics of this car. to accept from).

1990 Porsche Targa Singer just when it started to acceptMax Power Commission” was one of the triggers that I happened to see a car.

When I saw this car with a ruby stone red body and a blue hood, I wondered if the combination of guards red and blue hood had a lot of personality.

As always, I'm sorry to everyone who made a lot of noise and caused trouble (laughs).

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to everyone who contacted us and to everyone at the shop. But it was fun to do some research on my own, and it was precisely because I did so much research that I was convinced and was able to make the decision, "Let's just keep going."

And once again, I would like to thank the Convertible Research Institute for their kind and sympathetic consultation until the very end.

Next time I want to exchange the hood for something, I think I'll be indebted ^^ Thank you very much!

So, thank you for your continued support of Guards Red & Aohoro's 718 Boxster. (After all, what is this blog…)
