The other dayI had the opportunity to see the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric, a fully electric vehicle.As I mentioned earlier, the new Cayenne Electric (hereinafter referred to as Cayenne EV) will be publicly displayed for the first time in Japan at the "ABB FIA Formula E World Championship 2026 TDK Tokyo E-Prix," which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight from July 24th (Fri) to 26th (Sun), 2026.
This year marks the third year of the Formula E Tokyo event, since its inaugural run in 2024.
This year, just like in the inaugural year, the final races will be held in a double-header format on Saturday and Sunday, and for the first time in the Tokyo tournament, they will be held as night races.
The Cayenne EV will be on display at a location called "Fun Village," which will be set up in East Halls 1-3 of Tokyo Big Sight during this event.
This fan village area is a free area that anyone can enter, even those without race tickets, so feel free to drop by.
The Porsche booth, which will be set up within the Fan Village, is being jointly operated with the following companies:
- TDK: Technology partner of Porsche Motorsport and title partner of this year's Tokyo E-Prix
- Henkel's LOCTITE: A German chemical and consumer goods manufacturer and the official adhesive partner of the Porsche Formula E team.
The booth featured not only the new Cayenne EV, but also the Porsche 99X Electric, which competes in Formula E.
In addition, there are various other contents such as driving simulator experiences and activities for kids, allowing visitors to experience the world of Formula E and the Porsche brand. If you have the time, why not stop by?
Porsche has been competing in the Formula E World Championship since the 2019-2020 season, and of course, this season they are competing with a total of six 99X Electric cars, including their works team and two customer teams.
Actually, I've been to a Formula E race in Tokyo once, and it was really interesting. It's like a battle of wits, and there's a unique way to race that's only possible with electric vehicles.
