CORNES: Cornes Ferrari: Ferrari

Run Hakone Turnpike at 200km/hr with Ferrari 296GTB

Posted: October 28, 2022 Updated:

Participate in Mr. Cornes' Ferrari event

On this day, I headed to Odawara in a Lamborghini and had lunch. It's a very fun time to feel like a little excursion.

On the way, I also saw a sign that Anest Iwata Turnpike Hakone was closed to traffic.

Hmm, isn't the Hakone Turnpike closed today? Is it possible to go only via Hakone Shindo to go to Daikanzan Sky Lounge?

Hakone Turnpike charter event

Well, I couldn't help but grin when I saw the sign that the Hakone Turnpike was closed to traffic, but that's because the turnpike was closed for the event we're participating in this time. .

Therefore, normally when I see the notice of road closure, I would say "Yeah", but on this day I was somewhat happy just to see the notice that the road was closed ^ ^

I feel sorry for those who wanted to go but couldn't.

By the way, after lunch in Odawara, I headed to the Daikanzan Sky Lounge so as not to be late.

This sky lounge was also reserved for this day, so basically the gate is closed and only those who have registered in advance can enter.

Ferrari owners who appear one after another.

We don't have a Ferrari at home, so we have a Lamborghini.

this day isMr. CornesIt's an event, and our Huracán EVO dealer is Mr. Cornes, so I think it's a connection with Mr. Cornes ^^

When I participate in events like this, the weather is often sunny, and I consider myself to be quite a sunny woman, so I wasn't worried about the weather on this day either.

And of course, on the day of the event, the weather was wonderful with the most beautiful view of Mt. Fuji.

thanks ^^

When you arrive at the Taikanzan Sky Lounge, the first thing you should do is check in at the reception.

Magarigawa (THE MAGARIGAWA CLUB) was also provided.

It would have been nice to have a drink in the lounge and wait until it was time for us to run.

After all, Ferraris are lined up, so I want to see them all ^ ^! !

Four Ferrari 296GTBs are available

Oh oh.

I'm here.

Four Ferrari 296GTBs. The view is too luxurious.

These four are the 296 GTBs that the participants ran on this day. Two of the four are Asset Fiorano specifications.

on second thoughtslooks like perry the platypus, the more you look at it, the more you get used to it, it's cool and cute.

Mt.Fuji and Ferrari co-star

As the running time approached, the Ferraris moved to a position where they could have Mt. Fuji in the background.

The sight that spread out in front of me was so unrealistically beautiful that I thought, "Is this an image of some kind of calendar?" I was speechless.

Where the Ferraris alone were too nice, everything looked tens of thousands of times more wonderful with the amazing power of Mt. Fuji (?)

296 GTBs are steadily being prepared.

The participants on this day ran 296GTB, but the number of cars running in one run frame is 3 cars x 2, a total of 6 cars.

Leading cars are 488 Pista and Roma

One of the 3 cars is a lead car led by a professional racing driver.

The lead cars were the Ferrari 488 Pista and the Ferrari Roma respectively.

Since this day's event was a closed turnpike event:

  • no speed limit
  • There are no other cars, motorcycles, etc. other than ourselves

Therefore, I didn't have to worry about lanes or oncoming traffic, and since there was no legal speed limit, I was able to fully enjoy the performance of the Ferrari.

The Ferrari 296 GTB is such a wonderful car that can be driven under such miraculous conditions.

This car equipped with a plug-in hybrid system, the theme is "Fun to Drive", and it is a model that focuses on making driving fun.

Combined with the V6 twin-turbo engine and electric motor, the total output is a formidable 830 horsepower (PS).

Normally, it would be dangerous for an amateur to drive a Ferrari with such amazing specs on a winding road without a speed limit, but on this day, a professional racing driver gave instructions over the radio and led the way, so it was just a reason. It's not just about flying dangerously without knowing.

I was able to have a very enjoyable experience of high-speed winding driving because I was taught one by one by radio about the driving line and the precautions for each corner.

The following 4 drivers took the lead on this day:

  • Seiji Ara
  • Yuya Sakamoto
  • Shinya Hosokawa
  • Hideto Yasuoka

It was Mr. Sakamoto who guided us during our run.

Mr. Sakamoto is a fun person and every time I meet him, I feel closer to him. It was fun to meet you today too ^^

My husband is driving this time, and I am a passenger seat experience.

There is also a screen in the passenger seat, so if you set it to "Perform"...

It's fun to be able to see the screen that the driver sees in the passenger seat like this!

It's time to leave.

On the first descent, with the aim of "recharging the battery (which has decreased due to the running of the people in the driving frame in front of us)", we charged the battery using regenerative braking as much as possible while driving reasonably fast. I'm going down.

Since we want to run fully uphill, we want to keep the battery fully charged.

Even if you use regenerative braking, it doesn't mean you're running slowly, so it's a fun downhill experience.

What's new is that the lanes don't matter, so it's possible to run the turnpike on an out-in-out line using the entire road width instead of just one lane.

In addition, the professional driver gave me advice such as ``Be careful of the bridge ahead, so be careful of the joints'' and ``Ring is a little tight on this curve'', so it was very easy to understand and I was able to drive with confidence. rice field.

You will see the toll booth.

I made a U-turn in front of this toll gate, and then went uphill on the Hakone Turnpike, which was the main event of the day.

The driving mode of the 296GTB this time is the Manettino on the right side of the steering wheel for going (down), and the e-Manettino on the left side is a hybrid.

On the return (uphill), change the eManettino to Qualify.

By setting this eManettino to "Qualify" mode, it becomes a mode that uses the so-called engine + motor of the 296 GTB at full power, releasing 830 horsepower.

I was able to regenerate perfectly on the downhill just now, so the battery is fully charged and I can enjoy it in perfect condition.

It is said that the goodness of this car can be understood more at 5,000 rpm or more, so while enjoying driving at about 5,000 rpm while shifting in manual mode, use 830 horsepower power to run up the Hakone Turnpike at once.

Oh oh.

Anyway, the car bounces quite a lot, so even if I'm shooting with my smartphone in the passenger seat, the images and videos are blurry (laughs), but somehow the image at 198 km / h was captured at the limit. numbers.

I think I was able to do 200km when I was bouncing, but it was a really good first experience, and the Hakone Turnpike full-throttled Ferrari was really fun! !

296 GTB runs at 200 km / h with plenty of time on this climb.

If only a professional driver is driving, the car's margin is enough to understand that it will be possible to go even faster speeds without any problems.

Fully opening the Hakone Turnpike with Ferrari was a completely different experience from circuit driving ^ ^

Ferrari 296GTB is Fun to Drive

The sound of the 296GTB is also quite good, and it is said that only the high-pitched sound of the engine is taken into the car by a special path (creating a small gap in the back part) called "hot tube" that was adopted from this time.

Certainly, Ferrari has a style of "Each model has a concept and is faithful to that concept" instead of saying "The time at the Nürburgring was the fastest xx!" I really felt that they were making a car.

From this point of view, this 296GTB is exactly "Fun to Drive".

A Ferrari that is fun to drive.

The experience of this day was one of the most luxurious experiences that I will remember for the rest of my life.

Thank you to Mr. Cornes Shiba, Mr. Ferrari Japan, all the racing drivers, and all the staff for making it a wonderful experience ^ ^!
