sorry!!!
the other day,"The defroster switch on the 718 Cayman GT4 RS isn't actually connected to anything!" I was writing a blog titled ", and in the comments I received someone said, "Isn't this switch for warming the door mirror?"
This was such a shock to me that I thought, "What, door mirrors heat up?!" (laughs).
I had never thought that door mirrors (side mirrors) could be heated. I'm still so ignorant about Porsche...or rather, about cars...
so!
First, I checked whether the door mirrors really had a heating function.
It didn't appear in the Japanese Porsche configurator, so I checked it on an overseas configurator.
First of all, the red circled area indicates that the rear window does not have a heating function. Therefore, the rear window will not heat up no matter how many times you press the defrost button.

But, however.
If you look at the area circled in yellow, you'll see that it has heated door mirrors.
Wow, that's right!!! I had no idea!!! I was so busy looking for information about the rear window that I didn't even look at this!

You might say I should have checked it from the beginning, but I finally decided to check the manual after coming this far.
There was a clear item called "Door Mirror Heater," and it said that normally pressing the rear window defrost button would turn on the door mirror heater.

But even after coming this far, I still thought, "No, even if that's the case, there's no way the side mirrors of my GT4RS would heat up."
I couldn't wait any longer, so I headed straight to the parking lot.
First, before getting into the car, I checked the temperature of the door mirror with my hand. Normally, I don't touch the mirror with my hand to keep it clean, but this time, I was so happy with my hand that I thought, "I can just wipe it later!"
Of course, at this point, the mirror is still cool in the cold parking lot. It's nicely cold. If the door mirror really does warm up, you'll definitely know.

Get in the car and turn on the engine.
From there, turn on the rear defrost button.

This button automatically disappeared after a while after I turned it on, so I first waited until it automatically disappeared (turned OFF).
I also measured the time it took, and it was exactly 5 minutes from when I turned it on until the function automatically turned off.
Now that the switch has turned off after five minutes, I open the driver's side window and try touching the door mirror.
Pito.

Wow.
Warm (lol)!!!
It was really warm and cozy. Mirror!!!
Ha ha, I was all excited.
I was really surprised. I was thinking, "No, it won't warm up, it'll probably stay cold," until I touched the mirror, and then I felt a warmth and was like, "GT4 RS, it's warm!" (laughs).
By the way, not only the driver's side but also the passenger side door mirror was warm.
So, I concluded that the rear window defrost button on the GT4 RS is a button for warming the door mirrors, but it does not work on the rear window.
I'm very grateful to everyone who left comments. Thank you very much. I'd also like to thank my friend in America who taught me so many things this time. Thank you very much ^^
Now, one last thing.
Another comment told me that the 992.2 Carrera T does not have a heating element on the rear window.
What? There's no vertical line? Why is there one in 992.1, but not in 992.2?
In fact, it seems that the rear of the 992.2 Carrera T does not have a heating element. So, thinking "maybe," I checked the configuration of the 992.2 Carrera T, and sure enough, the door mirrors were "heated."
Therefore, I think that turning on the defrost button inside the car will warm up the door mirrors. This is just a hypothesis, as I haven't actually done it.

I'm sorry for writing all these random questions and things I've been wondering about (lol).
However, it was a big deal for me to find out that at least the rear defrost button on the 718 Cayman GT4 RS has the function of heating the door mirrors, and other Porsches with "no heating wire on the rear glass" may also have their door mirrors heated by pressing this button, so I hope you will find an opportunity to try it out.
For now, I feel refreshed!
