Seven Porsche 911 GT3 R participate in the war

The 24 Hours of Daytona will be held this weekend.

Porsche has announced this schedule and the Porsche team to participate, so I would like to see it.

2022 24 Hours of Daytona

First of all, I would like to confirm from the schedule. The schedule is as follows (all times are local time):

Thursday, January 27
・ 11:05 – 12:35: Free Practice 1
・ 15:20 – 17:05: Free Practice 2
・ 19:15 – 21:00: Free Practice 3

January 28 (Friday)
・ 11: 20–12: 20: Free Practice 4

Saturday, January 29
・ 13:40: Daytona 24-hour race start (Japan time: 1/29 From 3:40 in the middle of the night)

January 30 (Sun)
・ 13:40: Daytona 24-hour race ends

As the name implies, the 24 Hours of Daytona is held at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida, USA.

One lap is an oval course of 3.56 miles (about 5.73 km). This course is also famous for its slope of up to 31 degrees.

Speaking of Daytona, I've been to the site to watch the Daytona 500 before. I missed that time and looked at the past photos ... ↓

It was an unthinkable situation in the current situation of Corona. very!

But especially this Daytona 500 is very popular in the United States, and it was really fun to watch the game with the people around me on the spot.

Porsche team participating in the 24 Hours of Daytona

The story is off, but there are a total of seven Porsche teams participating in the 24 Hours of Daytona this weekend. 3 teams in GTD-Pro class and 4 teams in GTD class.

A total of 35 GT cars will participate in this race at Daytona.

GTD-Pro class

  • #2 KCMG: L. Vanthoor (Belgium) / Pilet (France) / Olsen (Norway) / Imperatori (Switzerland)
  • #9 Pfaff Motorsports: Campbell (Australia) / Jaminet (France) / Nasr (Brazil)
  • #79 WeatherTech Racing: Cairoli (Italy) / Andlauer (France) / Picariello (Belgium) / MacNeil (USA)

GTD class

  • #16 Wright Motorsports: Lietz (Austria) / Hardwick (USA) / Heylen (Belgium) / Robichon (Canada)
  • #34 GMG: Bachler (Austria) / Bleekemolen (Netherlands) / Washington (USA) / Sofronas (USA)
  • #64 TGM: Giovanis (USA) / H. Plumb (USA) / M. Plumb (USA) / Trinkler (USA)
  • #99 Team Hardpoint: Legge (UK) / Ferriol (USA) / Wilson (UK) / Boulle (USA)

Participate in Porsche 911 GT3 R

It is said that a new class has been set from this 2022 season, and a new GTD-Pro class will be created in place of the one that Porsche 911 RSR has participated in as a GTLM category so far, and Porsche will be GT3 of FIA there. It is said that it will participate in the Porsche 911 GT3 R made in compliance with technical regulations.

Only professional drivers are allowed to participate in this GTD-Pro class, and it seems that there is no particular change in the regulation for the other GTD class, so at least one amateur driver is allowed in this class. It must be included (it is mandatory to include 2 amateur drivers only for the 24 Hours of Daytona).

It is said that the minimum tire pressure has been set as one of the new regulations from 2022, and this will be a serious issue.

The lower the tire pressure, the better the performance, but ... It seems that a penalty will be incurred if it becomes lower than the minimum pressure set by the regulation, but is the tire pressure of 35 cars below the standard? IMSA, which keeps checking all the time, seems to be difficult ... (How do you do it? Is the air pressure data of each vehicle sent at once somewhere?).

2022 24 Hours of Daytona Livestreaming Site

In order to watch the race, it seems that J Sports is on-demand broadcasting (charged) in Japan, but according to the information released by Porsche, except those who are in the United States and Canada, watch the game by live streaming from the following site Is possible.

I haven't been able to confirm it because it hasn't started yet, but those who want to watch the race will start the race at 3:40 (Japan time) on Saturday, January 29, 2022, so it will be accessed from around that time. Please see ^^
