Porsche: Porsche morning mission ◆ Porsche Experience Center Tokyo

PEC Tokyo 24th Morning Mission: 911

Posted: Posted:

The 24th theme is 911

The 24th Porsche Moment Mission will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2024, and its theme will be "911".

This is the first morning mission of 2025 and the third one with the theme of 911. I participated in this one for the first time in a while.

Actually, the last time I participated in a morning mission wasThe 8th Open Car held in August 2023Maybe it's time.

I also went to PEC Tokyo for the 13th "9/11" event in February 2024, but thisIt was to attend a Porsche girls' gathering. So, I wasn't officially participating in the Morning Mission.

Surprisingly, people tend to think of me as someone who goes there all the time (is that right (lol)?), but the truth is that I never go there.

This was my first official participation in Morning Mission in about a year and a half, and this time I participated in a Porsche 911 GT3 (997.1).

Since the theme for the day was 911, all the participating cars parked there were 911s, from air-cooled to the latest models.

This time, the participation quota was filled only by 911 models, so perhaps only the 911 was eligible to participate (in the sense of whether or not you would win the lottery).

There was only one Taycan there, but I can't help but imagine that maybe they were unable to bring out the 911 on the day and came in a Taycan instead.

If it's not the case and it's the only Taycan winner, that would be amazing in itself!

It was a great time meeting many different people, some of whom I had met at Morning Missions and other events, and some of whom I met and talked to for the first time that day.

There was also a Porsche Manthey performance kit GT3.

The guest on this day was motor journalist Goro Okazaki.

Not only was there a talk show, but a quiz competition was also held that day, with the chance to win a test drive of the new 911 Carrera.

Participants are asked to enter their answers to the questions using their smartphones, and it is not enough to simply get the answers correct; their ranking is determined by their "correct answer rate and answering speed."

Of course, I participated too, but at first I was just thinking, "What was it? What was it?" and before I knew it the time to answer had passed, so I got a "X" and it was a complete mess.

But!

I was surprised myself, but it seems I caught up at the end, and when the results came out I was in third place.

I'm hidden between 4th and 5th place (lol), but in the picture below, I'm the pug in 3rd place, with just the "a" of Rika showing a little bit↓

I used to have a black pug, so if I have a choice now, I'll choose a pug without hesitation.

In the quiz competition, if you placed in the top 16 you would receive a prize of being able to test drive the new 992.2 Carrera, so I went and got a prize!

Yay, this is my first time driving a 992.2!! But I had to head to Fuji Speedway as soon as the morning mission was over that day, so I didn't have time to test drive it and had to decline... (tears tears).

However, the person who participated in the morning mission with me on that day was also kind enough to let me test drive the car on his behalf at PEC Tokyo, so I'm glad the opportunity wasn't wasted. Thank you very much.

As this was the first morning mission of the new year, we also had the traditional rice cake pounding event (although it was only the second time (lol)).

Freshly pounded rice cakes are so delicious!

Last year, I came to PEC Tokyo for a Porsche girls' gathering and received these New Year's rice cakes, so it was nostalgic to receive them again this year, and it felt good to feel like a new year with Porsche was about to begin.

I chose "Zunda" this year, which I had been interested in but had not been able to try last year. I also chose the stable Kinako.

Mmm, both are absolutely delicious.

Finally, we left PEC Tokyo after checking a few things that we always check whenever we come to PEC Tokyo.

The first thing I check is "Where is Chiba-kun today?" I'm sorry I always worry about such pointless things (lol).

On this day it had been relegated to the top of the shelves in the shop.

And another thing to check is on October 1, 20221st anniversary of PEC TokyoThe growth of the Somei-Yoshino cherry tree planted to commemorate this.

It's been about two years and three months already. He's getting bigger.

One of my dreams is to be able to show the picture to young people decades from now, looking at this magnificent Somei-Yoshino tree and telling them, "This tree used to be this skinny."

What kind of dream (lol).

Wow, it was a really fun time.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. To everyone who I missed, I look forward to seeing you again.

Thank you to everyone at PEC Tokyo for always giving us such a wonderful time.
