What is the snow mark displayed on the Porsche 911?
Last month when I got on the Porsche 911 (992.1 type) on the day when it was said that it will be very cold today.
how cold is it getting And when I looked at the display of the outside temperature, the temperature was minus 0.5 degrees Celsius.
Oh, it's pretty cold for the city.
And what I was more interested in than that was that "Oh, there's a snow mark." A snowflake mark is displayed around the bottom right corner of the time and outside temperature display. ↓
I feel like I've seen this snowmark displayed for the first time in Porsche, so I was tweeting about this on SNS on this day. "I may have seen Snowmark for the first time in Porsche".
Then I received a comment saying, "It doesn't usually appear, right?", so at first I thought I'd reply normally, "I think it was displayed because the temperature was below 3 degrees." is.
Because BMW certainly did.
I've always heard that BMW will display these snow marks when the outside temperature drops below 3 degrees Celsius, so I assumed that it would be the same when Porsche displayed it.
However, when I tried to respond on SNS, I thought that I only wanted to write after I was convinced that the information was correct, so I wondered if Porsche would really display it when the outside temperature dropped below 3°C. I started looking.
Then you discover something strange.
What!
Oh my God Although it is one of the marks that are actually displayed on the 911 in this way, the description of this snow mark is "not anywhere" in the official Porsche! ! Surprise.
Of course, I looked at the manual and searched extensively, including overseas (laughs).
However, there was not a single Porsche official explanation of when the snowmarks would appear.
Is that possible? ? What is actually displayed on the car? ?
If this happens, I have no choice but to convince myself of something (?), so I waited for a chance to confirm from here. After several days, the verification date finally came.
On this day, I also drove the same 992.1 Porsche 911 and confirmed that the temperature was gradually dropping.
And finally! !!
The snow mark lights up when the outside temperature is 3°C or less
At first, when the outside temperature was over 3°C and the snow mark did not light up, the moment the outside temperature dropped to 3°C, I was able to confirm that this snow mark was lit up. I was.
At the moment the temperature reached 3℃, the snowmark first flashed 3 times, and after the 3 flashes, it remained displayed.
It's not an official announcement just because I checked it visually, but in conclusion, I think that this snow mark will be displayed even in Porsche when the outside temperature is 3 degrees Celsius or less.
Basically, like BMW, it is a warning that "the road surface may freeze, so be careful."
Considering that Porsche has not dared to explain this snow mark anywhere, perhaps this is a mandatory warning display in "Europe" or "Germany" regardless of Porsche? Thought, I tried looking it up, but I couldn't find a clear description.
Today is the day when it snowed in Tokyo.
I'm sure there are many people who have seen this snow mark ^ ^
If you find somewhere Porsche officially mentions this snowmark, please let me know!
