Having come so close to victory, the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans was a disappointing one for Porsche.
Unfortunately, in the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans race, the Porsche customer team had to retire and finished in 13th place.
Two cars (911 GT3 R) were entered in the LMGT3 category as part of a Porsche customer team, and although they had a chance to win their class, the result was very disappointing.

But this is a 24-hour race, and if simply finishing it is difficult enough, considering luck and everything else involved, then placing high in the rankings is also incredibly difficult.
In this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, car ##92 pitted approximately two hours into the race due to a tie rod failure.
Although this caused him to fall to the very back of the pack, #92 managed to climb from 25th to 13th place at the finish line. It's amazing that he managed to climb from 25th to 13th place.

The other car, car number #91, had a very strong start to the race, even briefly leading the LMGT3 class.
However, an unexpected pit stop was necessary just before midnight local time due to a flat tire.

After that, #91 made a comeback and came close to a podium finish, but the following day, Sunday, at around 10 a.m., a mechanical problem caused it to crash into the barrier.
The driver was safe (and thankfully unharmed), but unfortunately, the race had to end here.
This is a truly disappointing result for Porsche.
However, as a Japanese person, the fact that Toyota, in which Kamui Kobayashi also competed as a driver, won the overall championship was very welcome news.
But I can't help but wonder, "What would have happened if Porsche had been in this (hypercar class)?" and it's sad that Porsche isn't competing in the hypercar class.

One more thing.
This year's 24 Hours of Le Mans also included the Porsche Carrera Cup Brazil as part of its support program, and on this particular day, Hollywood actor Michael Fassbender participated as a guest driver.
As a result, he finished in 25th and 14th place.

Also, the winner of the rookie class was Pipo Massa, the son of former F1 driver Felipe Massa.
