News: Jeremy Clarkson wins "Car of the Year" at the UK Motor Awards 2026.

2026 marks the 75th anniversary of Porsche's debut in the UK, and to commemorate this milestone, the 911 GT3 Touring was named "Car of the Year" by automotive journalist Jeremy Clarkson at the NewsUK Motor Awards 2026 held in London.

Furthermore, the new Cayenne Electric was also selected as a finalist in the large SUV category, and the Porsche Wireless Induction Charging Pad for the Cayenne EV was selected as a finalist for the Annual Best Innovation Award.

Jeremy Clarkson, who selected the 911 GT3 Touring as "Car of the Year," commented as follows:

  • The steering is perfect.
  • The gear changes are incredibly satisfying, to the point where I can't help but groan with pleasure every time I downshift.
  • The power is more than sufficient.
  • Fast, but not terrifyingly so.
  • This is not just a sports car
  • The best sports car I've ever driven
  • Moreover, the price of £158,200 (approximately 33.06 million yen) is by no means outrageously high.
  • However, the car I drove had several options installed, such as seats and wheels, so it cost £203,700 (approximately 42.57 million yen).
  • Is it too expensive? No, not at all.

Porsche attributes the appeal of the 911 GT3 to a combination of its charismatic naturally aspirated flat-six engine, honed in motorsport, and the sharp steering and chassis feedback derived from decades of success on the racetrack.

Inheriting such motorsport roots, the 911 GT3 focuses on weight reduction and improved aerodynamic performance, emphasizing driver skill and lap times on the circuit.

The standard 911 GT3 therefore lacks rear seats and has a large rear wing, which generates downforce at high speeds.

In the case of the GT3 Touring, the rear wing found on the GT3, which is designed for track driving, has been removed, and a rear seat has been added, along with a more luxurious interior, resulting in a model that emphasizes the appeal of everyday driving rather than track driving.

Incidentally, in the UK, a limited edition 911 GT3 called the "New 911 GT3 Earls Court 51 Edition" was also announced in October 1951, marking the 75th anniversary of the unveiling of the Porsche 356, the first Porsche brought to Britain.
