Porsche sales reach 77,640 units in Q1 2024
Porsche has announced its worldwide sales figures for the first quarter of 2024 (January to March). The total number of Porsche sales was 77,640 units.
This figure is -4% compared to the same period last year. Last year's Q1 sales volume was 80,767 units.
"In 2024, we are preparing for the future," said Detlev von Platen, Porsche AG's director of sales and marketing. "We are updating four of Porsche's six model lines: the fully electric Macan, the new Panamera, the Taycan, and the new 911."
It is also said that Porsche has been able to maintain stable deliveries despite an increase in new products, delivery delays due to regulatory requirements in North America, and difficulties in the Chinese market.
The temporary suspension of deliveries in North America was quite an issue, so even taking that into account, it may be said that it was quite good that overall sales only fell 41 TP1T compared to the previous year.

Porsche's worldwide sales in the first quarter of 2024 increased by an astounding 91 TP1T in Europe compared to the same period last year, and by an astounding 371 TP1T in Germany alone compared to the same period last year.

Sales volume in China appears to have fallen considerably, down 241 TP1T compared to the previous year.
The reasons for this are said to be Porsche's focus on value-based sales (what does that mean at Porsche??), the continued tense economic situation in China, and the initial post-COVID catch-up effect that led to a strong performance in the same period last year... but hmm.
Furthermore, in North America the figure was down 231 TP1T compared to the same period last year.
The decrease is said to be due to delays in the shipment of some models related to customs (there have been cases of Porsches not being delivered at North American ports due to violations of the Uyghur Anti-Uyghur Law, resulting in delivery delays).

Well, the Cayenne, 911, and 718 are doing well, but the Macan is down. So it's not a rush to buy the ICE Macan because it's going to be banned due to cybersecurity regulations...
Porsche blames the Macan's decline on a disproportionately strong performance last year.
For the time being, it seems that there are already many orders for the fully electric Macan, so we can look forward to the second half of 2024, when the first deliveries of the fully electric Macan will begin.
And the most surprising number is the sales of the Taycan. It was down 541 TP1T compared to the same period last year.
The reason for the decline in Taycan sales is said to be "due to model changes."
Porsche has not started off well in 2024, but with the announcement of the 911 (992.2) coming up, I think the company is planning even better numbers for 2024 as a whole.
Porsche says that launching so many new products in such a short space of time, as could happen in 2024, is a complex challenge, but it says it will approach it with integrity, act cautiously and focus on value.
