Steady circular drift in Porsche 911, finally able to do 3 laps ~

Posted: Posted:

Skid control practice at Tsukuba Circuit Gymkhana field

Yes, it's been a long time since I last visited Tsukuba Circuit Gymkhana.

I left home early because I didn't want to be late, and the road went faster than I expected, so I was the first one on that day.

I was happy with the scenery that was reserved for a little while and started taking pictures of cars all by myself in the morning ^^

In the meantime, more and more people have gathered, and we start preparing from there.

On this day, we will be practicing steady circular rotation, so first we draw a circle and prepare for watering.

The place where I have been practicing my steady circular drift recently (past 4 times) is at an event held by Porsche Club Utsunomiya, which I once again took care of.

For first-timers and those who are not yet accustomed to the service, they provide thorough explanations starting from classroom lectures, and also teach passengers (driver/passenger seat) according to their level, and the number of participants is limited. Probably the most reasonable price as well.

Once you participate in this regular circle event of Porsche Club Utsunomiya, you will not be able to stop.

yeah? Twins ^^?

Well, in this steady circle event, I've been working hard with the goal of being able to drift around a steady circle in my Porsche 911 (black Carrera/991.2 base model), but thankfully I was able to do one lap around the steady circle in my Porsche 911 (black Carrera/991.2 base model). At lastYou can now do one lap by drifting..

But last time, the tires were already slippery, but this time,I just had a tire replacedChallenge with new tires.

I was worried that this might mean my senses would start over again and I wouldn't be able to drift.

But I have no choice but to try.

I'll do my best! !

When I tried it, I found myself in a situation where I was able to get off to a good start, but it only lasted about half a lap after that.

That's no good (lol).

I can remember the feeling, I can't remember the feeling, the feeling of the tires is different, and what should I have done where?

How come you were able to complete one lap the other day?

I'm just getting lost, trying to remember what I did last time, trying to remember what it felt like to have someone else carry me, etc.

As I did it a few times, my body gradually started remembering things, and I felt like, ``Oh, this, this, that was it,'' and before I knew it, I was able to complete a full lap.

Oh, good. I hadn't forgotten.

Once I remembered the feeling again, I felt like I was starting to understand what that feeling was like, and as I continued doing it a few more times, I started to understand the strength and weakness of the accelerator once I started drifting. Ta.

Ah, I realized that I hadn't understood the subtle differences in the accelerator until now, and I was convinced that Kuro Carrera wouldn't open up to me.

But now I feel like I have a little more understanding of the Black Carrera again... although I only understand it with my senses and not with my head, but I'm sure this applies to everyday driving as well. I think it's very important to be able to develop this sense because I think it's a connection.

Porsche 911 achieved 3 steady circular drift laps

This time, I was able to complete a maximum of 5 laps, although it was only once during this day's practice.

But at that time, there was probably no one to witness it (lol), and there was no evidence left, so I thought it was just a coincidence, so I won't record it in my mind.

What I can say as a result of this day is that I was finally able to do three steady circular drifts in a Porsche 911. It's not 100%, but I've been able to do it a few times, so I think I'm getting pretty good at it.

I'm so happy.

Here is a video of my 3-lap drift, which I always "don't know when I'll succeed", and managed to record it ↓ I'm really grateful to the person who filmed it. thank you! !

If I were to be told "I'll take pictures" before the start of the race, I'd never succeed (I'm too mentally weak (lol)), so this time too, he secretly filmed me. Hahaha.

Are you breathing?

Up until now, even when someone sat in the passenger seat while I was practicing drifting, I didn't notice because I only continued to drift for 1 lap or so, but this time when I had someone ride in the passenger seat, I didn't notice. So I was able to do something like that...There was one thing I noticed for the first time.

That's right, when I tried to talk to someone who was riding with me after I had finished drifting a few laps, I was already out of breath.

People even asked me, "Why are you so excited?" (laughs)

Even I said, ``No, I don't know, but it's kind of making me laugh.''

The sharp words you pointed out...

"Maybe he's not breathing while drifting?"

something like.

yeah yeah. That's it. Not breathing? Are you holding your breath?

When I thought about that and looked back on my situation the next time, I realized that I wasn't breathing (lol)! !

It was a surprising discovery even for me.

Apparently, once you start skiing and start drifting, do you concentrate from there? Am I using too much force? It's like you're holding your breath until the drift goes bad.

So, by the time I get to three laps, it's already over.

After realizing this, I tried to consciously breathe, saying, "Breathe, breathe!" halfway through, but I kept wheezing when it was over, so maybe once every 1-2 laps. Maybe it's just whether or not he's breathing (lol).

No, I was really surprised.

"Last time I ran TC1000He kept huffing and puffing, so I think he was probably breathing."

When I talked to

``No, if you're huffing and puffing while driving, it means you're probably holding your breath at each corner, and taking a deep breath after each corner.''

When he pointed that out to me, I thought, "Maybe so!" (lol).

When I think about it, when I take drifting or driving lessons, I often have trouble remembering what I was taught, what I learned, or what I thought afterwards.

So whenever I learned something or thought about something, I would write it to myself and send it to myself.

For example, this is part of what I sent when I was practicing drifting last time and this time ↓

Even if I can usually remember the content, there were many times when I couldn't remember it later unless I wrote it down immediately during the driving lesson, but this is probably when I was in the state of trying to memorize it. I thought it might be due to lack of oxygen.

So my next point will be to "breathe all the time" (lol).

My driving practice that I don't understand means that "breathing" will be added to the next practice ^^

If you can't breathe properly while drifting, no matter how good you become at drifting in the future, there's a big risk in completing the three-minute time limit for one person doing steady circle practice. That's too much.

Because if you can't breathe well, even if you get good at drifting, you'll lose consciousness from lack of oxygen. The ending was too cool (lol).

In any case, it was a day full of learning and discoveries, including taking a breather.

I'm really, really happy that I can now drift with the black Carrera.

It was fun to see some people drifting in light cars on this day! He's good at drifting, so he was able to drift, but if I tried this, I'd definitely roll over.

Some people come to take a tour and hope to participate in the future.

Oh yeah, and since it was a new tire, I wanted to use it evenly on both sides, but my steady circle seems to be better at counterclockwise rotation (because it's a right-hand drive/due to visibility), so I can only use it counterclockwise. .

I tried clockwise, but it wasn't as good as counterclockwise, so I prioritized those who could drift properly and ended up only doing counterclockwise.

This is the result.

This is the rear right tire taken on the way. It still feels brand new.

And this is the back left. ah. The surface is quite smooth.

Of course, it was only for a few hours, so I didn't notice any changes in the grooves, but I thought there was a difference between the left and right sides.

On this day, the water from the well was sprinkled all over.

Normally, I'd be worried and think, ``Ah, there's still scale-like dirt from the well water!'', but this day was different.

This is because a few days later, I had made an appointment with Revolt Utsunomiya, who is indebted to me, to have it refinished.

I already have that, so I feel safe and secure.

The wheels are also so different that those who have seen the current state of the black Carrera often ask, ``Are the front and rear wheels different (since the colors are different)?''

The front is still silvery and beautiful. But the rear is brown. This brown color won't come off no matter how much I wash it.

Well, after a lot of running, the day came to an end in no time.

After practicing drifting, the fuel consumption was calculated extremely badly, so even though I still had about 3/4 of the gas left, I got a message saying "Please be careful about the distance to your destination."

I have to fill up with gas, and even if I'm going to polish it up a few days later, I still want to remove any dirt that can be removed that day, so after leaving the gymkhana field, I first went to a gas station.

I always wash my black Carrera by hand, but after the regular cycle, I can't change my back to my belly, so I have to wash my car by machine.

Anyway, after using well water, I want to wash away the dirt as soon as possible.

My goal was to wash my car, so I did the simplest car wash for about 400 yen, but Mr. Alphard, who was there in front of me, seemed to have asked for a very elaborate course, so the machine came and went a lot. .

What are you doing? It was fun to watch from behind (I didn't really understand it in the end).

Bushy.

Yes, shiny!

...However, it only removes dirt from the surface; it doesn't actually remove any caked on dirt. But this is expected.

I'm also going to ask Revolt Utsunomiya to make it shiny again at a later date.

This was also a very meaningful and fun day that was very fruitful for me.

It's really fun to play with Porsche.

Next time I have a chance to practice again, I wonder if I can do it to some extent from the beginning. I don't think I'll be able to do it again in a few months until I remember what it feels like.

I guess my next goal is to shorten the time it takes to remember the feeling of being able to drift for the first time.

All that’s left to do is…take a breather (lol)!

Porsche Club Utsunomiya, thank you so much for making this day such a fun time ^^!
