In the sequel, the characters plan a diamond heist, and writer/director Christian Gudegast said, "We needed to make it believable that thieves could come in and out of the heavily guarded diamond exchange without anyone knowing they were there," which meant "we needed a car that was super fast, agile and quiet at the same time."

Moreover, the director had already written the Taycan into the script at an early stage, even before he knew whether Porsche would be OK with using it in the film.
In this movie, the Taycan Turbo is said to be the first fully electric stunt car to be used in a car chase scene in a Hollywood movie.
Porsche was provided with a total of five modified cars for the filming, one of which was converted into a pod car, with all of the operating devices, including the steering wheel, dashboard, start button, seats, and accelerator pedal, moved to a capsule on the roof of the Taycan Turbo.
The way this car works is that a stunt driver operates the Taycan from the roof, allowing the actor inside the car to concentrate solely on his acting.
The film production team had two months to carry out the modifications requested and test the stunt car.
Porsche's experts (engineers and such) worked through the night, for example reprogramming the software and sensors to enable the car to reverse through narrow tunnels at nearly 100 km/h.
I always think to myself that the bad guys and the people chasing them in movies can drive at incredible speeds in reverse through narrow city streets, and that their driving skills must be really high!

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, the sequel to 2018's Den of Thieves, stars Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr.
