My parked Porsche rolled backward on its own... ahhhh

In the United States, a Porsche suddenly appeared in front of a TikToker who was driving down a one-way street in a parking lot.

The Porsche was not parked within its designated parking space, but rather almost in the middle of a one-way street, blocking the road. There was no driver in the Porsche.

The man exclaimed, "What's going on!" and got out of his car to go and see what was happening with the Porsche...

Ah.

This Porsche wasn't parked right in the middle of the road; it seems that after parking the car in a designated space, the gear was left in neutral, and perhaps the parking brake wasn't properly engaged.

Therefore, it seems that after the car was parked, the Porsche started moving on its own in the slightly sloped parking lot (or rather, it rolled around in neutral).

Upon closer inspection, it appears the Porsche stopped after hitting the car behind it.

The Porsche owner will be shocked when they return and see what happened. And of course, the owner of the car that was hit too.

It's really important to make sure you're properly engaging the parking brake.

When parking my manual car, I always make sure to turn off the engine before shifting into first gear, and this video made me realize the importance of such things.

Incidentally, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) non-traffic monitoring system, it is estimated that between 2017 and 2021, 7,727 people were injured and 816 died as a result of unmanned vehicles rolling off roads.

This is said to average 163 deaths and 1,545 injuries per year, meaning about one death and four injuries every 2.2 days. It's quite surprising, isn't it?

I believe this accident could have been prevented with a simple check after parking the car (parking brake/handbrake, gear position, etc.), so I will continue to be careful in the future.
