24 Hours of Le Mans 2025: Porsche results

Posted: Posted:

Porsche 963 (#6) came in second, with three cars ranked in the top 10

The 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours race finished over the weekend.

As a result, the AF Corse Ferrari 499P (#83) won the Hypercar class for the third consecutive year, and Ferrari also showed its strength by coming in third and fourth place.

First, third and fourth place went to Ferrari, so what about second place? And the Porsche 963 (#6) from Porsche Penske Motorsport came in second.

Well, if the #6 Porsche had not placed highly, Ferrari might have monopolized 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, so that must be frustrating for Ferrari.

Even so, the #6 Porsche did not advance to the Hyperpole in the qualifying round and started from the bottom (in the hypercar class), but it was amazing that it came in second place 24 hours later.

#6 came in second place this time, but even so, the gap between them and the first place Ferrari was only 14.084 seconds.

Of course, even 0.1 seconds makes a big difference in a race, but even so, after 24 hours of racing the difference was 14.084 seconds - what a heated battle.

#6 started from the back of the grid, overtook seven cars on the first lap, and completed a total of 387 laps before finally finishing in second place at the very end.

Porsche's goal this time was to win their 20th overall victory, but unfortunately this was not achieved and this goal will be postponed until next time.

The other two Porsche factory team cars (#4 and #5) also finished in 7th and 9th place respectively, meaning that three cars finished in the top 10.

Manthey 1st Phorm's Porsche 911 GT3 R wins the LMGT3 class

In the LMGT3 class, Team Manthey won the class for the second consecutive year with the Porsche 911 GT3 R, following their victory in 2024.

This marks Porsche's 112th class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The other two 911 GT3 Rs finished in 6th place (#90) and 16th place (#85) respectively.

Finally, the Proton Competition customer team's Porsche 963 (#99) finished in 14th place overall.

However, when it comes to the results of this #99, Porsche's way of saying

"(#99) completed the 24-hour race without any notable movement/Unable to keep up with the pace of the works cars for long periods of time, it finished the race in 14th place overall."

It's written like this...are they not on good terms (lol)?

... or so I thought, but I guess that's not the case.

Racing for Charity: 500 euros donated for each completed lap

For the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche is running a Racing for Charity initiative, donating $750 for every lap a Porsche completes in the race.

During this race, the factory team's three Porsche 963s completed a total of 1,159 laps around the 13.626km circuit.

Once again, Porsche is "Racing for Charity" and will be donating 500 euros for each lap completed to two organisations, Interplast Germany eV and Kinderherzen retten eV.

These two organizations are child support organizations.

This activity, as in 2023, received the Sustainability Award from ACO, the organizers of Le Mans.

1,159 laps x 500 dollars = 579,500 dollars (about 83.7 million yen).

Next up is the Nurburgring 24 Hours race, and I'm looking forward to seeing many Porsches there too.
