Porsche Experience Center Tokyo: 718 Cayman GT4 RS Experience
I recently visited the Porsche Experience Center Tokyo in Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture, for the first time in a while.
I have a slight neck and shoulder painI had refrained from operating the manual transmission (Carrera T) for a while, but my symptoms had improved considerably, so on this day I drove the Carrera T (MT) for the first time in a while.
After driving it that day, I no longer had any problems driving a manual transmission, so I was able to enjoy driving the Carrera T for the first time in a long while on my way to PEC Tokyo.
It was a weekday and I wasn't there for any particular Porsche event, but when I arrived at PEC Tokyo and parked my car, I was surprised.
Look at this sight.
There are a lot of Taycans. Amazing. And many of them have roof racks (is that what they're called?).
The scene reminded me of the Teslas lined up at the Tesla delivery center in Ariake, and it almost made me wonder if this was a Taycan delivery center.
Upon entering the facility, I spotted a Porsche bear sitting right in front of the Turbo No.1 Collection of Porsche lifestyle goods.
Wait, just the other day they were with Chiba-kun and Kisarazu city's mascot Kisapon, so where did the other two go?
...or so I thought, but Chiba-kun and Kisapon had been quietly relegated to the bottom of the shelves in the Porsche shop.
I wonder if something happened to make Porsche Bear angry... As expected of Porsche Bear, he is in the strongest position at PEC Tokyo. He's strong. Good luck, Chiba-kun and Kisa-pon.
PEC Tokyo's tag has been updated
Anyway, the first change I noticed when I checked in that day was this tag.
I don't think you can really tell from the photo, but the texture of the card had changed.
Until now, the cards I had received had a shiny, smooth finish, but the card I received that day had a matte feel.
It's sad that the number of visitors is no longer displayed (although this seems to have been removed for a while now).
By the way, on this day my husband went to PEC Tokyo to experience driving the GT4RS, so he received the tag of this 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
And surprisingly, this tag had also been changed into a matte card!
I asked about this change to a matte-textured tag, which I thought was a small thing, and was told that by coincidence, the cards had been changed to this new texture on the day I went to PEC Tokyo.
If you are planning to visit PEC Tokyo in the future, be sure to come and experience the difference in the texture of the cards for yourself (Huh? Who cares about that?).
But what I thought was more important than that was that even though the tag says GT4 RS, the picture of the Porsche doesn't look like a GT4 RS...?
Is this something we should be concerned about? Isn't this the 718 Cayman Style Edition, not the GT4 RS? Dear Porsche~^^
Meanwhile, the driving program begins.
Shortly before the start time, the instructors for the day line up and each instructor is matched with the customers they will be taking care of that day.
This time, my husband was going to experience the Arctic Gray 718 Cayman GT4RS. I was just observing.
Find your Porsche: Porsche coloring book
After my husband went on his 90-minute driving experience, I was left with nothing to do for the next 90 minutes.
However, on this day, a great experience awaited me that would also be a great way to kill time.
That was the event that was held the other day,Morning Mission ReunionDuring the event, there was a booth called "Find your Porsche" where you could color in the outlines of various Porsche models and create your own Porsche.
Not only on the day of the event, but I was also able to add color to the spaces (cars) that were still empty, so I was able to enjoy it albeit belatedly.
Previously, the US was held at Laguna SecaThere was a similar coloring book at the Rennsport event. However, at the time, I could only get two pens with similar colors, so I could only paint it in solid colors like this:
But I'm happy that I was able to use a variety of colors this time.
I was wondering which Porsche I should paint, so I looked through the available Porsches and decided on this 911 GT3.
Paint it, paint it, paint it...
And it's done! ↓
While I was painting, I heard a commotion behind me, so I wondered what was going on and turned around to see a Taycan backing up towards me.
It seems that they were just about to switch positions. Oh, wow. I'm going to get hit.
So, I was painting alone, just beyond the work where the cars were being swapped. What free time. What happiness.
I think this Porsche coloring book will still be on display for a little while longer, so if you are going to PEC Tokyo in the future, please try to find my Porsche 911 GT3 as well~^^
We still had plenty of time after we finished drawing, so we took a look around at the vehicles on display.
CXX: Custom Porsche by Sonderwunsch
The car that interested me the most that day was the Targa 4S.
What's amazing is how customized the interior is, which is immediately obvious when you look.
CXX by Exclusive Manufaktur...SonderwunschThis is a Targa 4S with interior customization by .
I've seen cars with red leather interiors, such as Ferrari, but this is the first time I've seen a Porsche with a bright blue interior like this. It's pretty amazing.
It was ice gray metallic with a blue interior (I'm not sure what color it was), making it a truly unique and one-of-a-kind Targa.
It's not exactly blue, but I'd like to try Sonderwunsch someday.
...I was enjoying my time alone, but halfway through, my husband's GT4 RS started running on the track, so I went to see it.
What's amazing is that there were also other cars running, such as the 992.1 Carrera model, but the sound of this GT4 RS was completely different from those cars.
The GT3 and GT3 RS were not running that day, so I was unable to compare them, but at least when listening from the outside, the sound of the Carrera model running and the sound of the GT4 RS running were completely different.
It was amazing. This is like a racing car.
I asked my husband about it later, and he said that even though he was in the car, the intake noise was still amazing, and the conversation between him and the instructor was more like a yelling match (laughs).
If you order a GT4 RS, you definitely won't need to consider BOSE or Burmester.
I met up with my husband who had just finished a 90-minute ride and returned.
Afterwards, we had lunch at Restaurant 906 inside PEC Tokyo.
The chef at the restaurant remembers me and greeted me with, "Oh, it's been a while." I don't introduce myself every time we meet, so he doesn't know my name.
In any case, as PEC Tokyo progresses, the Japanese language skills of the chefs (who are foreigners) have improved dramatically.
I remember that at first we only spoke in English, but now we speak entirely in Japanese. Amazing!
I also enjoyed the delicious food. Thank you very much.
It seems that the instructor who was in charge of my husband that day was a perfect match for him. My husband was impressed, saying, "I couldn't express very well what I wanted to ask (about how to run), but the instructor understood my intention and taught me everything I wanted to know."
It was a wonderful day for my husband as he met a great instructor.
Finally, here is the Somei-Yoshino cherry tree that was planted to commemorate the first anniversary of PEC Tokyo, which I check out every time I come to PEC Tokyo.
I was so happy to see that he was growing up so well.
One of the things I enjoy most about working at PEC Tokyo is watching the Somei-Yoshino cherry trees grow, and it makes me very happy to see them thriving.
I reflected many times on my encounters with the staff at PEC Tokyo and, ultimately, Porsche itself, and in front of the Yoshino cherry blossoms, I expressed my gratitude for the happy encounters.
Let's go play again~
