What?! You can buy a Porsche at Costco?!

First, in the United States: Costco Auto Program

I heard that Costco sells Porsches in America.

So, thinking "no way," I accessed the Costco Auto Program website in the US...

Wow. They're selling it (lol).

It displays what appears to be almost all model variants, excluding limited editions, and lists the manufacturer's suggested retail price for each vehicle.

But wait, Spirit 70 is also included, surprisingly.

There's a "Build Vehicle" button, so does that mean I can actually configure a Porsche from the Costco screen and buy it right there?

Actually, it turns out that the shortcut to getting a GT3 or something similar was to just buy it from Costco rather than asking a dealer to reserve one!

With that in mind, I immediately clicked "Build Vehicle".

However, as you can only see what the car looks like in different colors here, it seems the process is still to select your preferred dealer and then be connected to that dealer.

So, just because a vehicle was listed on the Costco website didn't mean you could click on it and buy it. Well, that makes sense, doesn't it? (laughs)

I was thinking of writing about this on my blog, but before I did, I thought, "Wait a minute. I can't believe it, but surely Costco in Japan doesn't sell Porsches, right?" So I checked just to be sure.

After all, I'm also a Costco member.

If Porsches were sold at Costco in Japan, then it would be unthinkable not to know about it!

So, here are the results of my investigation.

The Japanese Costco website also lists Porsche sales.

Costco Members Only: Car Purchase Support Program

Surprisingly, even Costco in Japan has a "Costco Members-Only Car Purchase Support Program."

What's that? I didn't know about it.

But even if there's support for purchasing "cars," I figured that "purchasing a Porsche" wouldn't be included, so I checked which brands were participating.

Then... Oh dear, oh dear.

Wow, what a surprise! There's a Porsche in there!

Moreover, not only is Porsche one of the target brands, but all of them are German manufacturers (although MINI is currently under BMW's umbrella).

I immediately clicked on "PORSCHE".

The content is that, as you'd expect, you can't actually buy a Porsche online from this site (which is obvious, haha), and the idea is that you should come and see one at a designated showroom (Porsche Center).

Incidentally, the showrooms listed on the site as of June 2026, when I checked, were:

• Porsche Center Shiga
• Porsche Center Naka-Osaka
• Porsche Center Kita Osaka

These were the three stores (each with its own eligible period).

But what I found strange was that if it simply stated "You can buy a Porsche at this Porsche Center," then it was just an advertisement, and from the buyer's perspective, there was no particular benefit to being a Costco member, right?

So, I wondered what exactly the benefits of being a Costco member were, and after taking a closer look, I found some!

The Costco website stated that if you pre-registered at a participating showroom and then purchased a Porsche, you would receive a Costco shop card that could be used at Costco.

In the case of Porsche, for example, if you buy a new car, the vehicle price will generally exceed 10,000,000 yen regardless of the model you choose. In that case, buying a Porsche means you'll receive a Costco shop card worth 200,000 yen.

I see.

That's right, there used to be times when Costco had Porsche displays. Those were the days.
