Camper experience 4: Footbath tour at Gero Onsen, Gassho Village

Posted: January 9, 2021 Updated:

Camper trip from the beginning in 2021

This is the last trip of the year-end and New Year holidays with a camper. For some reason, during the week I was renting a car, I went out in three parts.

This time, I went on my third trip for about one night from January 2, 2021 (to be exact, I waited until the sun came out and brightened on the morning of January 4th. , It will be close to 2 nights).

I was wondering where to go for the final destination of this year-end and New Year trip around Ise Jingu and Hamamatsu from December 29th to 30th, and around Mt. Fuji and Oarai, Ibaraki Prefecture from December 31st to January 1st. Result ... The destination was decided to be "Gifu Prefecture".

I decided on the destination of Gifu prefecture about an hour before departure (laughs).

On the morning of January 2nd, I was still at home and deciding where to go by looking at Google Maps on my smartphone. Too lazy. But the good thing about campers is that you can even do this! !!

Well, once you have decided on your destination, it's time to start. First of all, I just run. It was a completely moving day because I left late again on this day.

When I was running, I saw Lake Suwa.

While saying "Wow, it's Lake Suwa", if you go a little further, it's already ...

Wow! !! It has changed to a snowy world! The trees in the mountains are suddenly pure white.

The camper I rented this time had studless tires.

That's why I thought, "I want to go to a place with a little snow," so this time I checked the road conditions with a live camera and said, "There isn't much snow on the road, but the surroundings. I decided to go looking for a place that was "snow scene".

The area has become a snowy landscape.

I took a break at night at the station near my destination, but when I woke up in the morning and looked at the outside world, it looked like this.

It fell unexpectedly ~ ^^

Still, it was good because it didn't pile up on the road.

It was about this on the road with the worst snow ↓

However, such a place is only a story of a really short section, and there is almost no snow on the road after that.

Still, there was a lot of fluffy snow around, so it was good that the children could enjoy playing in the snow ^^

On the morning of January 3, I left Michinoeki and arrived at my destination after it became bright.

I tried to arrive early in the morning, so there aren't many people yet. The good thing about camper life is that you can act like this in the early morning.

The final destination is Gero Onsen

The destination of the day was ... Yes, I arrived at "Gero Onsen". One of the three famous springs in Japan!

Originally, I wanted to go to a distant place while going around various places with a camper, eating at various places, visiting hot springs at various places, and spending many nights in a row like that. ..

But now there is a problem with corona. Therefore, the purpose of this camper trip was to "go out while avoiding contact with other people as much as possible, which is possible only with a camper." * This is a story before the announcement of the state of emergency.

Therefore, I didn't even go to the hot springs.

However! At Gero Onsen here, there are several free footbaths available throughout the city, and there are quite a few places where you can feel free to use the footbaths for 24 hours.

So, let's go around the footbath early in the morning! So ^^

Bring a towel and go around the footbath.

In the place where the attached shop was already open, I could buy pudding and eat while soaking in the footbath ^ ^

Even though the footbath of the same Gero Onsen, the temperature is completely different depending on each footbath, and the footbath in the photo below is quite hot, even though the pudding was lukewarm. It may take a few minutes before you can wear it.

It was good to enjoy such a difference. While whispering, "Wow, it's hot here!"

And, after all, almost everywhere is in a chartered state only in the early morning.

I took a walk in the city of Gero while enjoying other footbaths.

Gero is read as "gero", so is it because of the connection of the sound "gero"? "Gero Gero" ... and there were "frogs" everywhere ^^

Many of the shops had frogs as characters, and as you can see in the photo I posted earlier, they were manholes and the road patterns were also frogs.

In addition, there was also a "frog shrine" here.

Yes, when it comes to frogs, Porsche 911 is often referred to as a "frog."

Yeah, I decided to pray for safety about Porsche, so I stopped by.

It's a digital shrine, and if you put in a gift, you'll get a thank-you gift from the frog shrine ...

When I put in the money, the frog said something like "You can get enough money", so I would like to start considering the next Porsche (laugh).

Gero Onsen Gassho Village

After visiting some footbaths at Gero Onsen and feeling warm, I headed to the nearby "Gero Onsen Gassho Village".

The first thing I came up with before making Gero Onsen a destination was actually "Shirakawa-go". I thought it would be nice to go to see the gassho-zukuri village, which is a World Heritage Site.

However, I gave up on Shirakawa-go because the snow seemed to be terrible, but it is said that there is actually a gassho-style building near Gero Onsen that was relocated from Shirakawa-go and other places.

I didn't expect to experience Gassho Village here, so it was really good.

It was also possible to enter inside, and the lifestyle at that time was reproduced.

The sight that spreads out in front of me didn't seem to be real again, and I didn't feel like I was in Japan in 2021, which made me feel something different.

Until just yesterday, I was in Tokyo where there was no snow at all, and the day before, I was running around in front of Mt. Fuji, but now we are in the snowy gassho village, this mysterious feeling.

There is also a restaurant in Gassho Village, and I was able to enjoy sweetfish and yamame trout that were carefully baked in this way over a two-hour period. was delicious!

Besides, I ate a lot of miso dengaku, traditional grilled dumplings, mitarashi dumplings, and gohei mochi.

There was a place in Gassho Village where you could experience Raku ware, so there is time and children want to do it, so you can also experience Raku ware. What the children experienced was painting.

You can paint on various things such as plates and teacups, so when the children were wondering where to draw, I was also looking at "Isn't this good?" ... ..

At that time, I found this.

e! !! !!

The car painted in blue is Porsche, isn't it? ?? ??

This wasn't Raku ware, but a piggy bank that was magically colored for younger children.

The moment my children saw this Porsche, "Mom, I'll definitely do this! Don't paint Porsche! You should make it a pink pig!" What's more, he says something like a pink pig pattern, which is quite tough. What are you guys at the Porsche Center?

But somehow I didn't feel like painting Porsche on this day, so I stopped it. Because it seems that Porsche will be serious, so it seems that everything will be completely black. ← Is that my seriousness (laughs)?

Anyway, I decided not to paint Porsche, so I was watching the painting of my children here, but each one had its own personality and it was fun to see it again.

The second daughter, who chose the cup (the one that the mug doesn't have), drew it quite orthodoxly.

It's hard to draw a flower (maybe a daffodil?) Seen from this angle by freehand just by imagining without looking at any reference pictures or photos.

Speaking of the three children of my family, I have already grown up to be a good nerd like "I can live with Fate and Evangelion, Garpa and Fort Knight", but the nerd degree is demonstrated. It was this eldest daughter.

She chose a plate to paint, but even though it was Raku ware, it was Evangelion ...

No matter what you look at other people's works, the pictures of "Gassho-zukuri no Uchi" and "Frog-san" are heartwarming, but our house is already messed up (laughs).

Hmmm, this is my youngest brother, but I have no choice but to expect my eldest son, the only boy in my house.

He must have created a great, more orthodox piece that isn't a geek! !!

Well, my eldest son, what exactly is your work?

... I'm the most sick (laughs)! !! !! It ’s too scary, is n’t it?

I want to see the faces of parents who are raising children who are so sick and who make nerdy works! !! I thought, but what was the parent doing?

I was seriously modeling Porsche 911 with snow (laugh) ↓

This is not good for my parents (me), hahaha ^^

There is also a footbath in Gassho Village. The hot water here was also very hot and it was very comfortable.

My body, which had been chilled by concentrating on the modeling of 911 in the snow, became warm just by soaking in the footbath for a while. After all hot springs are good. When Corona is over, I definitely want to go around Japan while visiting hot springs in a camper van.

Furthermore, there is a shrine that can be changed here.

Of course, I have visited here as well. After all, just hearing "Kaeru Shrine" makes Porsche come to mind, so I have been focusing on Porsche's safety prayers.

There is a long slide with a total length of about 175 meters installed in the forest, so I wanted to let children experience it, but in this snowy environment the slide is closed. Was there. disappointing.

At Gero Onsen Gassho Village, you can see the wonderful gassho-zukuri houses in the scenery that you can't really think of in the present era, experience various things, play with the snow, and have a wonderful time. I was allowed to spend time.

I will return while watching the snowy landscape again.

Finally, I stopped by Gujo Hachiman.

I wanted to see the old-fashioned cityscape (from inside the car), and if this was possible, I wondered if I could see the castle from inside the car.

Although I tried to stop by, I didn't plan to go sightseeing seriously, so unfortunately I looked up at the castle from the town and only understood "Oh, it's lit up there, right?" It was, though.

After that, I went straight to Tokyo.

It was possible to arrive in the middle of the night in terms of time, but when I returned to Tokyo this time, I had to prepare to return the camper, so I did not want to return in the dark time, so I dare to SA Kill time with and adjust so that you will arrive in Tokyo after it gets brighter.

When I get home in the morning, I drop off the children and then clean the inside of the camper. They also lent me sheets, so I had to fold them up, clean the inside of the car, and throw away the garbage, but I'm glad it was bright.

For the time being, I had sleeping bags (a type that would look like a sleeping bag when spread out) for the number of people, so I had to do things like that and clean up my luggage.

When I return the camper, I will follow with 911 again. If you say that "low thing" of 911 that I got on immediately after getting off the camper! !!

Even though I was alone in the car, I suddenly heard a voice saying "Low!" (Laughs).

And the curve turns beautifully without being overwhelmed by crosswinds ... but the feeling of a camper still remains, so even with 911, at first I turned a terrifying curve.

After that, while running behind the camper at the end, I thought, "If I was right behind this, I wouldn't be able to see the existence of my 911 at all", so I drove while grinning to one person ^ ^

When I returned the camper, the older brother who explained the camper at the beginning was just there, so I was glad that I was able to convey the impression and thanks that "it was really fun !!!".

And "as I was told, I was vulnerable to crosswinds" ^^

In order to transfer the family to a camper first, BWM was also released, so when returning to home after returning the rental car, 911 running behind BMW.

My husband must have thought "Low! Turn! Wind, it doesn't matter!" To BMW right after the camper.

In this way, when I was running behind BMW at 911, I felt that "Oh, I have returned to the usual scene", and it is a bit of loneliness that I will return to normal life again from the fun year-end and New Year holidays. ?? Did you feel relieved? I had a feeling of.

So, January 4th, when the camper was returned, was my first Porsche run in 2021 ^^

The year-end and New Year holidays with a camper that I enjoyed a lot. It was a wonderful and wonderful memory for my family and for me.

When I came back, every photo I saw was a big smile for the children. Looks really fun.

I am really grateful to those who introduced me to the camper van, which gave me the opportunity to spend a happy time with my family. thank you very much! I'm sure I will go again ^^

Well, from now on, I would like to enjoy my life with Porsche 911 again ^ ^!

Thank you for staying with me on my blog about my camper experience for a long time.

Lastly, here is a diagram of the routes that I ran this time that I made easily. I measured the total mileage of the camper with a meter, but the total mileage during this rental car period was "2,600km".

As you can see from the map, it was a trip that made me think, "If I didn't come back to Tokyo every night, wouldn't it be more efficient?" (Laughs), but I wanted to come back every night. So well this was fun with this.

Family trip in a camper was the best! !! !!

1st time (Tokyo → Ise Jingu → Toba Ferry → Irago)

1st continuation (Irago → Hamamatsu → Tokyo)

Second time (Tokyo → Mt. Fuji → Itako → Oarai → Tokyo)

3rd time (Tokyo → Gero Onsen → Gujo Hachiman → Tokyo)

… And actually, it's not over yet (laughs).

There is an extra edition with a camper, so please keep in touch with one more thing at the end ^ ^

Continue. n/a. Next is a metamorphosis. Yes.
