I didn't know about it, so I looked it up and found out that Hedley Studios is a British company that creates art pieces based on classic cars that you can actually drive.

It seems that they have previously created models of cars from other manufacturers. And this time, their latest creation is a Porsche.

The car unveiled this time is the '550 J', a reinterpretation of the 'Porsche 550 Spyder', which Porsche originally built for racing.

The "J" in 550J apparently stands for "Junior."

The Porsche 550 Spyder achieved an impressive result at the 1954 Carrera Panamericana, winning its class and finishing third overall.

In recognition of this achievement, the name "Carrera," derived from the Carrera Panamericana, was subsequently used for Porsche's sports models, and this has continued to the present day as the 911 Carrera.

The partnership between Porsche and Hedley Studio is based on a shared philosophy of combining traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, and both brands are said to embody the ambition to create products that combine precision, originality, and emotional appeal with exceptional functionality.

The newly unveiled 550 J is a reinterpretation of the original Porsche model, officially licensed and handcrafted by Hedley Studio. During the development process, Porsche provided the Hedley Studio team with extensive access to the Porsche headquarters archives, allowing them to use original drawings and scanned vehicle data for development.

Porsche also provided guidance throughout the entire project, so it seems that this is a work that Porsche did not compromise on.

The 550 J measures approximately 2.9 meters in length and 1.2 meters in width, making it about 80% the size of the original 550 Spider. It weighs only 330 kg.

This vehicle, which can accommodate up to two passengers, is equipped with a fully electric 48-volt drive system that produces approximately 8kW in the standard configuration and a maximum output of 16kW (21 bhp) in the RS package.

The top speed is said to be around 80 km/h (RS package), but it cannot be driven on public roads. Incidentally, there are four driving modes available: "Novice, Comfort, Sport, and Race."

This car is apparently aimed at collectors and design enthusiasts.

There are plenty of customization options available.

The Porsche 550 J is said to be available in a wide range of colors, from classic Porsche silver to blue, white, yellow, and red. Furthermore, it supports PTS (Paint to Sample) for those who want to personalize it even more, so it is said that there are virtually endless possibilities.

The price is said to be 69,500 pounds (plus tax, etc.), which, at the current exchange rate (208 yen), comes out to approximately 14.5 million yen.

Vehicle deliveries are scheduled to begin in the spring of 2027.

It's quite expensive, but if you're looking for an electric car that's 80% the size of a Porsche 550 Spyder and can actually be driven, it would be the perfect vehicle for anyone who wants one.

That said, it can't be driven on public roads, and even with the RS package, it's still a 22-horsepower electric car, so when you think about where you could actually drive it, well, I guess the 550 J is probably meant for people who enjoy driving it around on their own property, perhaps as a companion to an existing 550 Spider.

That said, only 90 550 Spiders were ever produced, so the number of people who can own both is probably quite small...
