Conquered the GT4 Trophy and Open class at Pikes Peak 2026.

Porsche participated in the 104th Race to the Clouds, held in Colorado, USA, in June 2026.

This is a race that takes place on a 20-kilometer road (which used to be unpaved but is now paved) leading to the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado.

For this 104th edition, Porsche entered 10 cars across three categories.

The following Porsches will be competing in the "Open" class, which features modified cars.

  • 718 GT4 Clubsport
  • 2002 911 GT-R
  • 2013 911 GT2
  • 2015 911 GT3 Cup

The "Time Attack 1" class, which features nearly stock, street-legal cars, includes three 911 GT2 RS Clubsports and one 2022 911 Turbo S.

Furthermore, two 718 GT4 RS Clubsport cars will compete in the "GT4 Trophy" class.

This race is called the Race to the Clouds, or simply "the race to the clouds."

The Porsche drivers participating range from newcomers to veterans, and Clint Vahsholtz, who competed in the GT4 Trophy class with a 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, is apparently making his 32nd appearance in the race.

Furthermore, there's David Donner, making his 28th appearance (in a 911 Turbo S entered by 000 Magazine), Jeff Zwart, making his 21st appearance (in a GT2 RS Clubsport), and Kathy Mead, a former astrophysicist known as the fastest woman in Pipespeak history, making her 7th appearance.

In addition, Billy Johnson, a racer on circuits and oval courses, drives a heavily modified 911 GT3 that transmits over 1000 horsepower to the rear wheels, which is also amazing.

So, what were the results of the race? In the Time Attack 1 class, the results were rather disappointing, with David Donner, who boasts three overall victories and eight class victories, coming in third place.

Incidentally, the top spot went to the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, which was overwhelmingly fast. The ZR1X recorded a time of 9:30.104, setting a new record for the fastest production car.

In the GT4 Trophy class, veteran Clint Vahsholtz took first place. A truly impressive performance on his 32nd Pikes Peak challenge.

The Open class seemed to be the highlight for Porsche, with former NASCAR driver Billy Johnson, in his debut race with a 911 GT3 tuned to over 1,000 PS, recording an astonishing time of 9:12.723 to win the Open class.

It reportedly outperformed several specially developed formula cars.

Incidentally, the overall winner of this competition was Roman Dumas, a former Porsche works driver. However, he drove not a Porsche, but a Ford Super Mustang Mach-E, a 1400-horsepower EV, and his time was 8:18.202.

Even if you go to watch the race, it's probably rare to actually see the hill climb happening right in front of you, but I imagine the sight of the cars speeding through such a terrifying place must be incredibly impressive.
