Porsche: Porsche ◆ My Porsche 911 Carrera T (992.1) ◆Porsche 911 (992.1 model)

Tape marks remain on the 992 type windshield of the Porsche 911

Posted date: August 30, 2023 Updated date:

Has the material of the windshield gotten worse since the 992 model?

There is one thing I would like to write about the Porsche 911 992.1 Carrera T that was delivered the other day.

deliveredI was driving a shiny Carrera T and driving around with pleasure, but one day I was driving after a while after the car was delivered.

When I suddenly looked at the front of the windshield on the passenger side, I found something like a trace of tape pasted on it that I hadn't noticed before.

That's it. I understand? ↓

I thought, "Oh, maybe there were some tape marks left on the car before it was delivered," so I wiped it off from the inside with a microfiber cloth.

I didn't really worry about it because I wiped it clean and it was clean.

But.

But.

But.

Strangely enough, when I looked again a while later, the tape marks had returned! !

Therefore, since I was planning to go to the Porsche Center, I would like to talk about this tape mark and have it cleaned at the Porsche Center.

When I went to pick up the car after cleaning it, the windshield was sparkling clean again, and the person at the Porsche Center said, ``We wiped it with alcohol.''

But, however.

This is again a few days later.

If you look at the Carrera T, you won't see anything special from the outside.

However, depending on the lighting, you can see it.

this. I understand? The part surrounded by light blue↓

This one too.

This is ↓

Even after getting it cleaned at the Porsche Center, the tape marks will come back firmly and clearly after a few days! !

What is this persistent tape mark! !

I had never experienced anything like this before, so I thought it was a bit strange, but then I learned that the owner of the MY22 992.1 GT3 was also facing the same problem.

In my case, the 991.2 did not have such a tape mark problem at all, the MY21 992.1 type 911 cabriolet did not have a tape mark problem, but the MY23 992.1 type Carrera T had this tape mark problem.

It is said that there are many tape marks not only on Porsche but also on Audi, but what is terrible is that even if it seems to be clean after being lightly polished with a compound or wiped with alcohol, a few days later, the tape marks again It is a formidable thing that is revived, and I think that there are many people who are troubled by this tape mark problem.

It seems that the cause is the tape pasted on the passenger side of the car with various information written on it before delivery, but this can only be seen when the sun is strong. There may not be any, so there may be some people who haven't noticed it yet depending on the circumstances under which they are driving even after the car is delivered.

There seems to be a view that the oil from the adhesive surface of the tape is the cause, but since there was no such problem with the windshield so far, the windshield of the 992.1 is the 991 generation. I can't deny the possibility that the quality of the material is worse (?) when compared.

This is the tape mark on the windshield of a 992.1 Porsche 911 that I received from another person↓

I don't really know if the material has deteriorated, but at least I can say with confidence that the inside of the windshield has become more foggy since the 992 model.

In the case of the black Carrera (991.2), if you wipe the inside of the windshield once every few times when you wash the car, it will basically be much cleaner, but when you notice the 992.1 (MY21) cabriolet, the inside will be slightly faded. It's cloudy and dirty, and when I notice the 992.1 (MY23), the inside is slightly cloudy and dirty, so I have to wipe it from the inside as well.

I don't know if it's the material or what the windshield is made of up to 991.2, but I think something is different. The inside will definitely get cloudy and dirty.

Furthermore, in my case, my MY23 Carrera T has even tape marks on it.

This is another person's tape trace ↓

992 type, especially after MY22 or MY23? If so, it may be a good idea to check it under bright light to see if there are any tape marks.

By the way, at Porsche Center Takanawa, there is a cleaner that has been introduced to deal with this tape mark, and there seems to be no report that "the tape mark has returned" after cleaning it, so I will go to Porsche Center Takanawa again this time. I plan to clean it with that cleaner.

I hope I can report back after I clean it up ^^

★ Addition ★
Sorry, but the tape marks have returned even after being polished by PC Takanawa. This is the continuation →It is impossible to prevent tape marks on the windshield of the 992 Porsche 911.

(Therefore, we are very sorry, but there is no solution at this time, so we would appreciate it if you would refrain from contacting PC Takanawa-san regarding this matter, sorry...)

★Additional note 2★
At the moment (December 2023), we have found the most effective solution to this window glass fogging problem, so if you are having trouble, please refer to this:

I would appreciate it if you could let me know if there are any more effective methods. Thank you for your support ^^
