The 2026 911 Turbo will have the same non-plug-in hybrid system as the GTS.
Porsche Deputy CEO and CFO Lutz Meschke reportedly told reporters that a turbocharged version of the facelifted 992.2-generation Porsche 911 will enter production in the second half of 2025.
*Production is scheduled to begin in late 2025, so the announcement may come earlier.
It is also said that this turbo model will be equipped with a Varta cell.
Varta is a German company that will supply the 1.9 kWh battery for the hybrid power pack of the already announced 992.2 Porsche 911 GTS.Just recently, Porsche rescued the company from financial collapse. That's what was reported.
By the way, the Porsche 911 GTS (992.2) is not a PHEV, so it cannot run on electricity alone, and so the reduction in CO2 emissions is only a few g/km.
However, a 54 horsepower boost is possible through the motor built into the 8-speed PDK, and by utilizing the electric turbo, the time it takes to reach maximum torque after stepping on the accelerator has been reduced from 2 seconds to just 0.5 seconds.
The 3.6-liter flat-six engine, newly developed for the GTS, is equipped with a single large turbo, and the problem of turbo lag is eliminated with the help of an electric turbo, delivering a total system output of 540 PS and 609 Nm.
Thus, the new GTS is expected to have performance close to that of the Turbo (580PS) and Turbo S (650S), but according to Intel, the 992.2 Turbo is expected to be equipped with an enhanced version of the GTS powertrain, and it is said that even the base turbo model of the 992.2 will definitely exceed 608 horsepower (PS).
992.2 Porsche 911 Carrera S is an internal combustion engine vehicle (ICE)
Additionally, during a conference call with reporters, Meschke also revealed that the 992.2 Porsche 911 Carrera S will go into production in the first half of 2025. However, this Carrera S will not be equipped with hybrid technology, and there are no plans for any dramatic technology changes.
*Production of this model is also scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025, so the announcement may come earlier.
In other words, this Carrera S will be an internal combustion engine vehicle, just like the base Carrera announced the other day.
The Carrera S's output is expected to increase from the current 450PS to around 460PS.
Apparently the 992.2 Carrera S will also be available with a manual transmission.
You might think that going from 450 horsepower to 460 horsepower isn't much of a power increase, but there's one other piece of good news: it seems that the Carrera S will be equipped with a manual transmission for the first time in the 992.2 model year.
According to Meschke, "Next year's 911 variations will be quite satisfying, hehe" (he didn't say hehe (lol)), so I'm looking forward to it!
