Will virtual sounds and virtual gearshifts be options that can be turned on/off?

Foreign media reports that Hyundai's Ioniq 5 N has impressed Porsche's development team.

Frank Moser, vice president of Porsche's 911 and 718 lines, and Andreas Preuninger, head of Porsche's GT car division, reportedly "left excited like teenagers coming out of an arcade" after driving the Ioniq 5 N.

Frank has already driven the Ioniq 5N a few times and describes it as an "eye-opening experience."

Andreas, who initially muttered "I don't need that kind of electric car" and got into the passenger seat without much enthusiasm, was impressed when Frank pressed Hyundai's "N Grin Boost button" and exclaimed "Wow!"

This button reportedly unleashes 650 PS/478 kW and 770 Nm of torque, and the two Porsche executives were impressed not only by the incredible acceleration, but also by the "un-EV-like driving effects" such as virtual gear shifting (N e-Shift) and artificially generated engine sounds (N Active Sound+).

Frank also said, "Customers will be able to choose whether they want to drive in completely silent mode or whether they want to participate in a game and experience the virtual sound of a flat-six and virtual gearshifts."

Foreign media predict that these two options, which are said to be "future directions," will appear as part of a Sport Chronotype option package for the new electric Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman vehicles currently under development.

Frank said that the 718EV is expected to be released in early 2027 and will be lightweight for an electric vehicle, but the exact weight has not yet been announced.

The previous Cayman-based Mission R weighed approximately 1,400 kg, but since this was a racing concept car, it is unclear to what extent this weight reduction can be applied to a road-going vehicle.

Lightness means speed, so it's something to consider.
Personally, I feel that a light and nimble car is more sporty than a heavy car that is absolutely fast.
I feel that this is the most difficult aspect of EVs with drive batteries, and the same goes for hybrids.

  Porsche has previously said that "it can't be heavy," so I think they'll try to make it as light as possible, but I don't know what will happen.

Hello!

I'm test driving the Ioniq 5 N next week. A friend of mine said, "I'm looking forward to seeing how my dislike of EVs changes!" The "N" stands for M or higher than AMG or BMW, and is also said to stand for Nürburgring. There are apparently several active sounds, including a backfire sound.

I'd like Porsche to introduce an NGB button in addition to virtual sounds and virtual gearshifts. BMW also has a feature where pulling the left paddle for one second puts the powertrain and chassis into Sport+ mode. It should be easier to use than a dial.

Porsche has also filed a patent for using excess boost pressure from the turbo to cool exhaust gases. It cools the catalyst and extends its lifespan. I hope this will lead to an improvement in their financial situation.

    The Ioniq 5 N is well made. It has a lot of fun features, but maybe it's hard to accept new things at my age? I think I'll get bored of it within a week. It's not a hybrid car that can run on EV, but I'm used to the gears dropping and accelerating when I step on the gas in an ICE car, so it feels strange. And it's heavy. It's 200kg heavier than the X3 and 700kg heavier than the 992...
    
    I wondered if V12 would work, but my friend went with 812, and was so enthralled by the high tones that she cried. On the way back, like RIKA, we bought a box of curls at Tsuchiyama SA.
    But my wife and son gave some to their friends, and I only got one. → I had anticipated that something like that would happen, so I hid three of them in a tote bag and kept them in my room (lol).

      And he bought Carl (lol)! I never imagined a 60-year-old karting enthusiast like Carl, but the image of Carl buying a box of Ferraris is very pleasing ^^
      
      And is the Ferrari paper bag perhaps a collection of things you received when you took delivery of your car?
      
      Our house tends to always have all the various things we received when the car was delivered (other than food and drinks) stored inside from start to finish, and I wonder if that's the same for this 60-year-old cart-loving man.

        By the way, the other day a friend of mine who owns an 812 told me that "the battery of the 812 dies in about a week, so you need to drive it about once a week." Is that really true?

The 812, 458 Special, and Pista last 15 to 20 days on a full charge. However, starting the car and driving about 30 kilometers from there actually reduces the battery. Starting the ICE seems to put a lot of strain on the battery.
The SF90 and 296 PHEVs charge to some extent while driving, but pure ICE vehicles are basically charged using a charger, and if there is no power outlet in the parking lot it is wise to prepare a portable battery.
Other factors include the deterioration of the battery itself, and the fact that the 812 has early and late models, with various early models. Ours is a late model, one that was made before the exhaust noise at start-up became quieter.
If the battery is completely dead, Ferraris often cannot start even if they are charged, and you will need to call a service center. Please note that this information may vary from car to car.

  I happened to have some business to take care of at Cornes right after receiving your comment, so we talked about it there as well, and I realized that without a portable battery, you can't escape the constant worry of wondering if your phone still has charge (lol).
  
  In particular, most Ferrari models are too wide to fit into our home parking lot, so we have no choice but to rent an external parking space (where we cannot leave the charger plugged in), which makes the charging issue extremely difficult... (tears)!
