Porsche: Porsche ◆ My beloved black carrera (991.2)

Wiper movement measurement of Porsche 911 (late 991 model)

Posted: June 6, 2018 Updated:

Unfortunately it is raining today.Weekend rallyThen, the car got dirty with insects and so on, so I just had my brother at the gas station wash the car cleanly on the following Monday (two days ago ...) when I came back.

There is no way. Since the insects are gone,Next time, let's play it by ourselvesI think!

So, today I went to the Porsche Center to talk about the rally's memories ← I'm too free (laughs). It was so intense that it was two days that passed in a blink of an eye, so when I came back, I felt the ephemeral feeling that it wasn't a reality. ..

But today I met Porsche who spent two intense rally days together, talked about various things, and remembered various things of that fun and fulfilling two days, "Oh, it wasn't a dream! I thought it was a happy two days again. It was a nice start even on a rainy day.

In such rain. This time on the way home to pick up the child. Somehow, the eldest daughter who was sitting in the passenger seat is counting. If you wonder what you are counting ...

so. I was counting the number of seconds this wiper came out (laughs). Actually I. Except when it's heavy rain and you keep using the wiper continuously, but when it's light rain, you don't like to click the whole part that puts out this wiper and change the strength (speed) by continuous operation. There is no. It's not elegant because I always feel like "gakon, gakon" ...

It means that I don't really like to move the yellow circled part up and down as a whole. (By the way, I like to click once from the normal position and activate the wiper only once (laughs). Maybe this is my favorite)

So, in most cases, in order to attach the wiper, click once to raise this whole to make it intermittent operation (movement that the wiper operates at regular intervals), and then the strength (speed) after that. Is this small switch on the far right to adjust? I am doing it by switching ↓. It is the part where HI (HIGH) and LO (LOW) are written.

★ Addition (May 27, 2019) ★
In the comment, I was told that "the switch on the far right is the strength of the rain sensor sensitivity and has nothing to do with the HI / LO shown." Is it because my car doesn't have a rain sensor this time? If you operate the switch on the right side with the lever raised by one, the strength of the wiper will change ... I will write it as an explanation of "the position where HI and LO are written". Sorry for the confusion! !!

This is the second from the top, LO (the wiper slowly comes out of your eyes).

I told my eldest daughter, "Mom's wiper has LO and HI settings, and I think the number of seconds that the wiper comes out is different, so why not measure it?" I wanted to get it (← selfish parents (laughs)), so I put out a stopwatch on my smartphone and asked them to measure it, saying, "Measure it properly!" Already at this point, it's not my child's interest, it's completely my interest (laughs).

So, in the case of LO setting

When driving: 6 seconds
When stopped: 10 seconds

So I found that the wiper works. Then what about HI?

For HI settings

When driving: 3 seconds
When stopped: 5 seconds

The wiper moved. It is exactly double the speed at the time of LO. So that's it.

If you want to stop it temporarily (again, I don't like the wiper moving when the signal is stopped), turn it "OFF" with this small right switch. Now, let's talk about what the "INT" between this OFF and LO is, but I think this is definitely an abbreviation for "intermittent". In other words, does it mean "intermittent operation"?

If your car has a rain sensor, you can set the switch here to activate the rain sensor and automatically determine the strength (interval) of the wiper according to the intensity of the rain. In other words, I think that the wiper setting that operates automatically is here. In the case of a car without a rain sensor, it seems that the wiper operates intermittently with a weaker (longer) feeling than LO.

When I used this INT before, it didn't work very well for me (laughs), so I've only used HI, LO, and OFF since then. … Is my car equipped with a rain sensor…? Let's try it again ...

★ Addition (May 27, 2019) ★
This is also refreshing with comments! My black Carrera didn't have a rain sensor! This is because the rain sensor comes with the automatic anti-glare mirror as an option. So that's it. So, my Carrera is not an automatic anti-glare mirror, so it doesn't even have a rain sensor. I'm really happy to hear from you! Thank you ^^

Until now, I had roughly changed between LO and HI with the feeling of rain, but I was convinced by the numerical value that it was a difference in speed with this kind of feeling. As usual, I was worried about the fact that it didn't matter (laughs), but when I was worried about the speed at which the wiper moved from a child's perspective, it was a lot of fun to be able to measure it together as if playing!
