Will the problem of Porsche 911 (992.1 model) glass fogging finally be resolved? ?: Porsche Japan files recall notice

Finally, a recall for front and rear glass defects in Japan

On June 13, 2024, Porsche Japan announced that it had issued a recall for several (actually, quite a few) Porsches.

Yes, as you all know, this recallThis is the exact same recall that was issued in the US in March 2024.So it's like, "Finally it's out in Japan!"

The recall notice states:

Part name: Body system (front and rear glass)
In the front and rear glass, the cleaning process during glass manufacturing is inappropriate, resulting in insufficient adhesion of the glass. As a result, water can seep in from the glass adhesion surface, wind noise can occur while driving, and in the worst case scenario, the front glass can come off due to the impact of the airbag during a vehicle collision, making it impossible to guarantee the passenger protection performance of the airbag.

something like.

The corrective measures include inspecting the front and rear glass of all vehicles, and replacing any abnormalities found with good quality glass.

As was the case with the recall issued in the United States, there have been no actual defects as of now.

The affected Porsches are as follows (note: the chassis number range includes vehicles that are not affected):

When I checked, I found that my Carrera T, which had been experiencing problems with the windows fogging up, was indeed included in the chassis number range covered by the recall.

Considering that the cause of this problem was "improper cleaning process during glass manufacturing," I believe that cars that clearly have a problem with fogging up the glass would be affected.

But then when I get my car inspected, I'm worried that they'll say, "Our inspection of your car has found no problems related to this recall, so there's no problem!" (lol).

However, when I looked at the types (models) and numbers of vehicles that are subject to this recall, I was surprised to see that there were more involved than I had expected, such as 789 GT3s and 186 GT3 RSs.

I don't think there are that many of them, as I rarely encounter them even in downtown Tokyo.

On the other hand, if we look at the model numbers of the Carrera T, we see that in the period from November 25, 2022 to April 4, 2024, approximately one year and five months, only 197 units of the three models, "Carrera S, GTS, and T," were sold.

...But based on the various information I've received from everyone so far, I think this recall probably applies to cars with lightweight glass, so while the GT3 and GT3RS all come with lightweight glass as standard, for the GTS and similar models it only applies to people who have lightweight glass as an option, so the number of people affected is probably small.

Does the Carrera S have lightweight glass as an option?

Anyway, if you have an affected vehicle, you will likely be notified in the near future.

I'm very happy that this will finally solve the problem of the Carrera T's glass fogging up, and I might be able to be free from this trouble, but I have a film on the back glass...does this mean I'll have to pay for it again?

He said yes and even said that "I bought two sets in case I failed to put them on, but one shot worked fine, so I have one left over, Why don't you take it"

Hmm...

I guess I'll just wait for the notification to come.
