America: An incident in the mountains of Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department posted images on X and other sites showing two Porsche 911s colliding in the mountains of Los Angeles, with one of the cars' engines falling off.
The Porsches are a 991-generation Carrera (first thought to be a 997, but apparently a 991) and a 991-generation GT3 RS.
The accident happened at a location known as Monte Cristo Campground (Angels Forest Highway between Pasadena and Palmdale).
Although the details of the incident are unclear, it appears that one 911 was attempting to make a U-turn when another 911 crashed into it. The white GT3 RS appears to have collided with the silver 911 from behind, causing the engine mounted in the rear of the 911 to fall out of the car and be thrown onto the road.
However, there appears to have been little damage to the front seats, and no one was seriously injured in the accident.
The video released by the Sheriff's Office showed a helicopter, but no one was transported from the scene. Thank goodness.
Considering the situation where one car was hit by another while making a U-turn, it is unlikely that even though they were both Porsche 911s, they were traveling together, and it seems likely that the fact that it was an accident between two 911s was a coincidence.
By the way, just a few days ago there was an accident in which a Nissan Pathfinder (Terrano in Japan?) ran over a 911.
Since the person who posted these photos is likely a Florida resident, it is believed that this accident may have occurred in Florida, USA.
But how could something like this happen? Did the Pathfinder back up with great force?
Even in this situation, the driver's seat of the 911 appears to be safe, so we hope that even if there was someone inside the car, they were not seriously injured.
