The next-generation 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster will be electric vehicles, but development is still delayed and the next-generation model has yet to be announced.
In such a situation, there is no plan to "make the current 718 until the next generation can be announced," and production will end at a certain point. What has been said beforewas.
Production has already ended in some regions, so it was thought that the ICE 718 would be discontinued in all regions in the near future, but it has now finally been announced that orders for all current ICE models of the 718 have ended in the UK.
So, I checked out the 718 model on the Porsche configurator in the UK.

I'll choose the base model.

Oh.
It's true!!
It's right here. Circled in yellow. There's an explanation there.

When I clicked it, the following was displayed:

Contents:
It is no longer possible to place new factory orders on this model. Please contact your Porsche Center to enquire about available models which match your configuration.
So, it seems like they're saying, "We can no longer place new factory orders for this model. Please contact a Porsche Center to inquire about a stock model that meets your desired specifications."
Similar notes were also displayed for all other 718 models, including the Style Edition, which was (or was?) one of the 718 models that could be ordered in Japan until the very end.

I wondered if orders had already been closed in Japan, so I checked the Japanese configurator, but... (As of September 3, 2025)
The Japanese configurator has not yet been updated to include annotations.

Of course, that doesn't mean that if there is no note, all items can be ordered, so it's hard to say for sure.
Some overseas reports have stated that "Porsche has now announced that it has officially ended orders worldwide," so it is possible that all orders, including in Japan, have actually ended.

Although orders have ended, production of cars that have been ordered up until now will continue, so it is likely that the final "end of production" will be some time in the future.
Previous reports had stated that production would end in October 2025, so it makes sense that orders would end in early September, about one month before that (about two months before if production ends at the end of October).
It's quite sad to think that in a little while we'll hear news like "The last 718 leaves the factory."
