However, I have a particular preference that the hood should be black, so for example, even the generally popular "white body x red hood" can be used when looking at other people's cars. I think it's nice, but I'm particular about making the hood black for my car.
Even so, the 718 this time has become a car that I really want more than the fact that the hood is not black, so I bought it immediately while muttering, "Is the hood blue?"
So, this is where my fuss started.
I'm very happy with my purchase, but I can't help but worry that the "hood is blue" still remains in a corner of my head. Every time I met everyone at the Porsche Center, I was making a fuss, saying, "The hood is blue! I want to change it to black!"
I decided to replace the hood with a black one, and started researching the hood replacement.
Of course it is possible to exchange it if you ask the Porsche Center, but it seems to be a little expensive, so I gave up.
After all, this is also a selfish story, but if the hood is broken, there is no choice but to replace it. Replace the existing hood."
It's really selfish, but "I'm reluctant to change something that doesn't need to be changed, even at the cost of spending a lot of money...but I want to change it." ultimate selfishness.
A genuine one would be too expensive, so I was desperate to find a place that would replace the hood cheaply instead of a genuine one.
So what I ended up doing was:
① Ask Porsche owners and related parties who are likely to have information about hood exchange if they do not know where Boxster hood exchange is cheaper than genuine.
result: I tried to inquire at the shop that I was told about, but gave up because the price was lightly over 500,000.
② Ask an overseas Porsche technician who got acquainted through SNS which manufacturer's hood is good for replacing the hood of the 718 Boxster if it is not genuine (if you can get a replacement hood cheaply from overseas) , a strategy to purchase a hood from overseas).
result: I looked at the products you told me about, and they were aftermarket ones starting at a little over $2,000. I received advice that it would be better to make it an OEM product if I change it.
And the OEM hood is about $3,500 or more including tax.
In that case, the shipping fee to Japan, and the dollar exchange rate was already the worst when I was considering it, so even just the hood alone would be expensive, and I would like to send it to someone in Japan. There is also a labor charge for installing it... If that happens, the result will be expensive, so I gave up.
At this time, that person also advised that if the hood was replaced with a non-genuine one, even Porsche with a warranty would not be covered by the warranty on the convertible top part, so be careful.

③ Search the net and inquire where you can replace the hood in Japan.
