Autobahn Motors Car Vending Machine Singapore
A few years ago, a car vending machine in Singapore became a hot topic.
I had always wanted to see it with my own eyes, and now I had the opportunity, so I got to see a little bit of it.
During my stay in Singapore, I came across several 911s, including one in PTS livery, one Boxster, one Macan, one Cayenne, and one Panamera.
I was traveling by taxi, and when I looked to the side from the taxi I saw a McLaren.
I've heard that buying a car in Singapore is much more expensive than in Japan, but I was still surprised to see Porsches and other cars more frequently than I expected.
Of course, I'm sure there are many people out there who are far richer than those in Japan, so I guess there are some places where it's possible...
A very friendly taxi driver took me to the address of the car vending machine in the Autobahn Motors building.
This building is what is called a "car vending machine."
By the way, I was told that there was another car vending machine building diagonally across the road from this building (probably a new construction?), but it was so hot that I didn't go there... (the height of laziness after going all the way to Singapore).
If I had visited at night, I would have been able to see the spectacular sight of the cars lined up in the vending machine standing out in the darkness, but since I had other plans that day, it was rather bright and a bit cloudy, so I went at a time when "at first glance, it doesn't really look like a vending machine" (lol).
Well, there's no other way.
The secret behind the operation of the car vending machine panel
Well, the exterior didn't look like a cool vending machine, but I was excited to see how it actually worked, so I went inside the store(?).
It seemed to be lunchtime for the staff, and they were all taking a break and eating their packed lunches.
When I said, "Excuse me for interrupting your meal," the staff responded very friendly.
He showed me the panel that controls the vending machine and said, "You can see a list of the cars in it here."
This is the panel installed next to the elevator entrance for taking cars in and out of the vending machine. An older man showed me how to operate it.
At this point, I started to get excited and tense up.
"Wow, there's a Porsche too! Can I see more Porsche listings?"
"Wow, there are so many Porsches! Amazing! I can see all the cars stored here and choose from them like this!"
I was getting more and more excited and happy, but maybe because I was so excited and happy, the guy suddenly said apologetically,
"No... well... this just displays a website..."
When.
What?
Is that so? Can't you see inside the vending machine (building)? I wondered, and checked out the AUTOBAHN Motors website... Aaaah!!
That's true.
The exact same content is posted on their website (lol). You can see the same screen from Japan.↓
"Oh, I see. So this just displays a website here," I replied, regaining my composure and asking further questions.
"But if I really wanted to buy one of these cars and I could pay for it right now with my card, I could just drive away in that car, right?"
he asked.
But actually, the answer was, "That's not realistic."
I regained my composure and said, "Yes, I know. There are various paperwork procedures to be completed," and I agreed.
This list of cars, which can also be viewed on the website, has videos attached to each car. When you click on one, a video will play that shows "it's as if the car is being moved inside this car vending machine and is about to be lowered out."
If you see this on a panel in front of an actual vending machine, you'll get the illusion that a car is really about to be unloaded inside the machine!
I thought it was well made.
In the end, a car vending machine is just a display of cars lined up on a flat surface (inside the store) like a regular car dealership, but it is deliberately displayed on a building like a vending machine. In reality, when negotiating a deal, you are given the chance to unload the car and have a look at it, and from there the process seems to be a normal car purchase and sale contract.
Well, if you think about it, that's a bit odd. But I think it's amazing that they were able to actually create something that would be interesting and show off the show, and I think it's fun and entertaining.
I'm grateful to the guy who kindly stopped his lunch to teach me various things.
I only stopped by for a moment, but it was a fun time learning about what a car vending machine actually is.
Visit to the Transformers NEST
Now, let me tell you about another place I visited in Singapore.
Here is it.
This is the Transformers NEST, where entry is restricted to those not authorized to enter.
I mean, you understand that, right?
Yes, this time I took my kids to Universal Studios Singapore (USS).
There is a Transformers attraction here, so of course I'll go!!
Bumblebee also came out and danced, and we got to take photos together, so I think I ended up having more fun than the kids...
It was a shame that Porsche's latest Transformer, the Mirage, wasn't there.
Bumblebee water bottle with Porsche strap
Here's one.
This spring, my eldest son bought this Bumblebee water bottle(?) here at Universal Studios Singapore.
I'm very sorry to say this, but to be honest, this product has absolutely no functionality!
This is because it holds about 1 liter, so it gets quite heavy when filled with a drink.
Despite being so large and difficult to hold, it has no handle or strap, and what's more, it's just a bottle with no heat/cold retention function, so in hot Singapore, even if you fill it with water, it will just be lukewarm...or worse, hot water.
I felt like blaming him and saying "Why would you buy something like this?!" (lol), and in reality it was just a decoration on display at home.
thisNot usableThe place where Bumblebee shines is the USS where I bought it! So, even though it was bulky and a pain to carry, I took it all the way to Singapore again this time.
Moreover, we intentionally added a PORSCHE strap so that you can hang it over your shoulder when drinking, inspired by the Mirage.
I would be happy if even one person saw this being used inside the Transformers ride and recognized it and said, "Oh, that's Bumblebee with the Mirage Porsche strap!"
Completely self-satisfied (lol).
By the way, the Transformers attraction was really fun. I can't even remember how many times I rode it.
I also went to Porsche Studio Singapore,I'll talk about that later...!
