Porsche Summer Salon for Women

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending the "Porsche Summer Salon for Women," an event held at Porsche Studio Nihonbashi, which is essentially a "fun Porsche-themed get-together for women, where we can enjoy delicious wine."

On this day, as usual (?), I was only planning to get drunk and chat with everyone about wonderful Porsches, but to my surprise, I ended up having a conversation in a dialogue format with the first female editor-in-chief of the car magazine "Le Volant," which made me a little nervous.

For those unfamiliar with Le Volant, it's a comprehensive automotive magazine focusing on imported cars, founded in 1977. Amazingly, it will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year.

This media outlet changed its publication cycle from monthly to bimonthly (released on the 26th of even-numbered months) starting in 2025.Le Volant (Web version)(Also available).

I had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Noriko Kyoya, who became the first female editor-in-chief of Le Volant.

I already have the impression that there are more men than women who like cars, and in the world of car magazines, it's still an industry where the position of editor-in-chief is mostly held by men. So, I think it's really amazing that a woman became editor-in-chief, and I was very interested in the story of how she got there.

This day brought together approximately 16 female Porsche owners who purchased their Porsches from either Porsche Studio Nihonbashi or Porsche Center Adachi and are enjoying their Porsches.

I felt a little embarrassed to be speaking with Ms. Kyoya, the editor-in-chief of Le Volant, in front of such a distinguished female Porsche owner, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Well, of course, it was my first time doing a conversation like that, so I was a little nervous, and we started by drinking a lot of wine (laughs).

Oh, did this just turn into drunken rambling? Sorry, haha.

The theme of the event that day was indeed "Let's enjoy wine tasting while sharing and experiencing the value of Porsche as a lifestyle," so starting with enjoying wine was definitely the right choice.

Most of the participants that day were people I was meeting for the first time, but I already knew two of them, so we started with a toast and wine.

The dress code for the event that day was "wear something red," so all the participants looked wonderful, whether they were wearing red clothing, some kind of red accessory, or, in the case of the most fashionable, a kimono with a red obi.

I also thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Ms. Kyoya, the editor-in-chief of Le Volant.

Ms. Kyoya said that she was "an old man at heart," and I'm also definitely an "old man" at heart, and what's more, many of the people who participated that day also said things like, "I'm an old man too!" (laughs).

Perhaps it's because they're all middle-aged men at heart, in a good way, that they've gathered together people who enjoy driving Porsches and appreciating their performance.

Porsche Studio Nihonbashi also had a red Porsche on display, in line with the day's theme.

The catering for the day was provided by a restaurant in Kayabacho.VINOMONDOThe event was hosted by [Name of person/organization], and featured delicious wines and dishes paired with them.

By the way, VINOMONDO, who we spoke with the other day...Cayenne EV eventThis is the restaurant and cafe that provided us with food and drinks during that time.

The menu included quiche, ratatouille, and a Margherita pizza with buffalo mozzarella and peposo, each served with a wine pairing.

Both were delicious.

After the discussion concluded, we all enjoyed a more relaxed time chatting and savoring delicious wine and food.

Both the white and red wines were absolutely delicious and superb.

For dessert, we had Gorgonzola gelato paired with a dessert wine, Giovanni Dri Il Roncat's Colli Orientali del Friuli Picolitto 2017.

Both were very delicious.

Furthermore, on this day, thanks to a kind request from Porsche Studio Nihonbashi to "please serve some exquisite wines," VINOMONDO kindly provided these wines for us.

This is just too luxurious. Both the white and red wines were absolutely delicious. Amazing!

We had a great selection of delicious wines, and the conversation with the Porsche-loving ladies I met that day was very lively.

Everyone was so wonderful, and I was so happy to realize once again that the connections I make through Porsche are always the best. I had a very enjoyable time drinking and having fun.

And we mustn't forget that there was a flower arrangement at Porsche Studio Nihonbashi that day, specially prepared for the event.

This piece was created by Ms. Kyouou Sakurai, a master of the Sogetsu school of ikebana. Ms. Sakurai cut out (shaped) the form of the object and then attached leaves to it.

I understand that this piece was created with the image of a Porsche sports car in mind, focusing on its streamlined shape and sense of speed.

I think this was a work that truly captured the streamlined design and sense of speed of a Porsche.

Furthermore, the bouquets made primarily from herbs that were displayed beneath this artwork were given to each participant as a souvenir that day.

I love the wonderful scent of the hotel lobby at The Prince Gallery in Kioicho, and this herb bouquet had such a lovely, comforting fragrance that it felt like I was experiencing that scent in person.

Not only that, but we also received some magnificent blueberries as a souvenir, which Ms. Sakurai had grown herself.

I was already touched by how wonderful the herb bouquet and blueberries alone were as a gift, but then there was another surprise: the other guests who were there that day had also prepared gifts for the other participants.

This is it.This is a granola called CACAO45.

Chocolate made from real cocoa is said to satisfy the brain and mind with its overwhelming aroma even in small amounts, and can even contribute to weight loss. This granola is made using that same real cocoa.

I tried it later and it was delicious. It would be absolutely perfect if it also helped with my diet!

That night was truly wonderful; I had the opportunity to meet amazing, independent women who each possessed a strong sense of self, and it was a very inspiring evening for me.

It truly makes me so happy to share with all of you the feeling that "Porsche is the best!"

On that day, the husband of the woman I invited waited until the end of the event to pick up his wife, and their happy relationship was also heartwarming.

And to top it all off, a McLaren picks her up. Seriously, that whole situation is just too cool!

I really enjoyed the Porsche Girls event hosted by Porsche Studio Nihonbashi.

I also had the opportunity to meet many new Porsche enthusiasts, and feeling everyone's love for Porsches made me incredibly happy that night.

Everyone who participated that day was excited and said, "We'd love to do this again!", so I really hope that a second event can be held and that the circle of female Porsche owners will expand.

I believe that the greatest joy of owning a Porsche is not just enjoying its incredible performance, but also the wonderful connections that open up as a result of owning one, and the world that expands from there. I hope that this happy circle of "Porsche lovers" will continue to grow in the future.
