The full EV80% may take "years" to complete.
On July 22, 2024, Porsche AG was reported to have said, "We predict that the transition to electric vehicles will take longer than expected."
The current situation is that Porsche has set a goal of making all 80% new car sales fully electric by 2030, and that hasn't changed.
However, Porsche now states that achieving this goal "depends on customer demand and the development of the electric vehicle division," and appears to have begun to limit itself to stating that if these things are not an issue, the 80% goal may be achievable.
Porsche AG said, "The transition to electric vehicles is taking longer than we thought even five years ago."
Executives at automakers such as Mercedes and Renault have set sales targets for fully electric vehicles over the next decade, but have warned that they are too ambitious. Porsche has also seen its EV sales stagnate recently.
At this point, Porsche has been told, "Our double strategy is more important than ever."
What is a double strategy? Well, it's a strategy involving both internal combustion engine models and fully electric vehicles.
By 2030, the 80% will be a fully electric vehicle, the 718 will be a fully EV, the Macan will also be an EV, the new SUV will also be fully electric (K1), etc., but the day may be approaching when Porsche will have to turn its attention to this double strategy, which is becoming more important than ever, and make various changes.
If the internal combustion engine model continues, that would simply make me happy, so I'm welcome to it.
