Yes, my daughters. Even though I was in elementary school, I really drove the HONDA NSX, the new Supra, and even the MAZDA Roadster, BRZ, and Fairlady Z in the "real car"! !!

My mother is very excited (laughs). It was a really fun day.

Here, I did not give unlicensed children the opportunity to drive secretly, but participated in what was held as a proper event.

U-18 Driving Preparatory School

A little while ago, the event was called "U-18 Driving Preparatory School".

U-18 is an abbreviation for Under 18, which is exactly "a driving prep school where people under the age of 18 can participate".

The target person can participate from elementary school students if they are 18 years old or younger, do not have a license yet, and are 150 cm or more in height.

This program is sponsored by the Japan Meister Certification Association, a general incorporated association operated by Oaknet Co., Ltd., and with the cooperation of eight domestic car manufacturers, a wide range of the latest domestic models are available, and the Automobile Journalists Association of Japan (AJAJ) ) Motor journalists are in charge of children's instructors, which is too luxurious.

A valuable experience that even elementary school students can drive a real car

Now, so this event is a traffic safety event held on private land and it is not illegal for unlicensed children to drive.

After taking a safety course in a classroom lecture for 40 minutes, it is a practical skill with the instructor in consideration of safety.

First of all, AJAJ gave a presentation format, starting with "how to open the car door" and taught the children various things from the basics.

No, even if I'm not driving, children are riding in the car many times, so how to open the door now? Some people may think that

"Don't close the door from the fully open position, but bring it up to about 20 cm before closing and close the last 20 cm from there."

Or, they will teach you politely.

That is kinder to the car and safer.

I think that the more detailed this is, the more it sounds more "taught" by a third party than by the parents.

Furthermore, how to get into the car and how to take the driving position (seat position).

I learned how to start a button engine, creep, braking, rotation speed, steering wheel operation, etc.

After the lecture, it is finally a practical skill. We went to such a large parking lot.

It seems that the place that was originally an outlet mall has closed, and after that it has become a private land that is rented out for events.

I used this parking lot this time, but in reality, there is a remnant that "Oh, this was really an outlet."

Mama was said to be a weirdo in a car ...

Now, back to this event, when the staff talked to the children on the way, my eldest daughter said, "Mom loves cars. She's a weirdo."

However, when I lined up the situation of the day to my husband and reported that "Children are driving a real car in the parking lot from now on", the reply was "Are you a sprinkler?"

UU. Not only me, but the couple were all weird (laughs). It's an event for children, so it won't sprinkle ^^

Well, at first, using the knowledge that we just learned, children get into the car and take a driving position.

The cars that were prepared are only sports cars such as NSX and new Supra

The following 6 cars were prepared for this event.

All cars are sports cars, the best lineup.

• Honda NSX
• Toyota Supra
• Mazda Roadster x2
• Subaru BRZ
• Nissan Fairlady Z

Moreover, one of the Roadster and one of the BRZ was "Homepat".

I can't meet Mr. Homepat, who I had encountered at an event before.

Even Homepat is a vehicle that you can't normally drive, so I've had a really great experience with children.

Children, up to the first open car experience with their own driving. It's too luxurious ~.

In all cases, one instructor will be on hand to teach you how to take steps.

Next, with the car stopped, "try to fully open the accelerator and raise it to the maximum number of revolutions (when stopped)".

No! !! that's! !! It's impossible for me to step on the new Supra or NSX, which I have never done before! I want to do it! !! It's sly! !! (Oh, the real intention).

After experiencing the full throttle of the accelerator, the children decided to use the accelerator work to adjust the number of revolutions to 2,000. Good ~. I have a good experience.

Then, practice moving forward and braking with a little creep.

After doing such basic practice, it is finally oval driving in the parking lot. Impressed.

Is that a Supra ?!

The eldest daughter is on the NSX in front, and the second daughter is on the new Supra in the back.

I was impressed and impressed when I saw such a scene. No, I'm impressed, I'm impressed. It's persistent, but I'm really impressed ^^

I never cry at the graduation ceremony of my child, but when I saw the scene that "my child is running on the NSX and the new Supra", I almost cried (laughs).

Regarding the new Supra, even Toyota dealers in various places have not yet been placed at this time, and the opportunity to test drive is very limited, so this time the manufacturer directly for children. It seems that they provided it.

I don't know why, but the number is also Toyota number. I thought, "You came from Toyota!" ^^

Elementary school students who can drive the new Supra ... It's really driving, it's changed! !! I will drive ~ (laughs)! !!

For the time being, I was the only parent who asked the instructor, "My children haven't stepped on the accelerator at all, so please tell them to step more firmly!" (Laughs). excuse me….

Changes in the child's mind

Before the event started, he said, "Mom just wanted to see the car and applied for the event! Because she came with her car lover," she said, "I'm not so interested." The children of my home who were there.

By actually driving a car, I was able to see how the children themselves became more and more excited every time they got into various cars and experienced driving.

Even the eldest daughter, who is a tsundere, begins to say "driving is fun! I want to drive forever!" (Laughs).

At first, I was the only one who was excited, but after the driving started, the children really started to smile, and the whole body was already full of feelings of "fun!" ^^

I tried driving myself and asked the excited children, "I'm a little scared to speed up! It's hard if I can't turn!", "Have you ever run on such an (oval) course?" I was able to do it, so it ’s just here.

"Yes! Well, when moms run this kind of oval, it feels like they're turning with full brakes from the full throttle of the accelerator, unlike your sloppy running!"

And, to the elementary school students, the mounting that makes no sense (laughs). After all it is too strange parents.

Even so, I didn't think that "actual experience" would change children's interest in cars and the feeling that "cars are fun". It's more than you can imagine. It's more than I expected.

The eldest daughter said, "I want to drive more, but I still can't get a license, so buy land (private land) where I can drive!"

Well, I wonder if I made a mistake in raising it (laughs)?

No, but it seems that he had a strong desire to drive more.

Anyway, I was able to drive all the cars that were prepared.

My second daughter was asked by the staff, "If you get a driver's license at the age of 18, would you like to drive again?"

"If I get my license at the age of 18, I want to run on the circuit!"

I was proclaiming. I was surprised. Well, this is how to grow it ... is it right (laughs)?

Anyway, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Japan Meister Certification Association, the Automobile Journalists Association of Japan, and each manufacturer for providing a wonderful experience that all the cars that I drive for the first time are sports cars.

It was said that this event was aimed at the following two purposes.

• Improving traffic safety for young people without a driver's license (Understanding the dangerous behavior of pedestrians and bicycles by experiencing driving)
• Contributing to the development of the Japanese automobile industry by increasing the number of young people who like cars (Is it true that you want to experience safe driving while you are young, learn how to handle cars correctly, and know the fun of cars? That ^^)

I thought it was an event that achieved these two goals brilliantly.

I'm really surprised that children are so suddenly interested in cars.

And you can say "I want to drive more! Cars are fun!" Ah, I'm already moved (tears).

I can really cry just by remembering that my eldest daughter and second daughter are driving NSX and Supra.

I've finally told the children how precious and amazing it is to experience this time, but how much do the children understand?

After a few years, I hope the day will come when you will be able to quickly understand how amazing it is, saying, "Well, did I drive this when I was in elementary school?"

For the time being, I was already impressed with the day.

And even if the children didn't understand how valuable this experience was, they seemed to feel that "the car is fun" from the bottom of my heart, and that alone made me very satisfied and impressed.

I am really grateful to be able to participate in the U-18 Driving Preparatory School.

In addition, after the children experienced oval driving, there was another lecture at the end.

So, he told me again and again that "I think it was fun to drive today, but you shouldn't drive until you get your license."

This time, I was heading to the event venue with Porsche 911 Carrera, but at that time, I was guided and parked at such a position.

I came back to my favorite Carrera and told the kids as usual.

"Ah, Porsche is too cool, isn't it ?!"

When I talked about it (← everyday things), I usually say "yes, yes", but I felt that the children's perception was warm on this day (laughs).

I felt like I was told, "Yeah, I understand, I think I understand a little why mom loves Porsche (car)."

Well, on the way back, I was checked to see if I was doing the "how to fasten the seat belt" and "how to hold the steering wheel" that they learned! !! !!
