I want to blacken the eyes of my Porsche 911
Due to the plan to combine the Carrera T with "silver x black" monochrome, first of all, after the car was delivered, I changed the crest to silver and the stone guard to black. (reference:Porsche 911 Carrera T: Replaced with silver crest, black stone guard installed)
After those are finished, it's time to install the headlights. Make it black (darker).
Here is the Carrera T just after delivery. It is the state of the so-called standard equipment light that has not been done to the headlight yet ↓
I don't have very good eyesight, so I hardly ever drive at night after it gets dark. .
Therefore, it is unlikely that you will be able to enjoy the performance of Porsche in the dark hours of the night.
I'm not particular about the headlights at all (laughs), so this time, the standard equipment lights (4-light LED daytime running lights, LED auxiliary headlights, LED headlights with LED front position lights with turn signals) That's enough, but the only hope for me is "I want to make the color black (darker)".
It's all about looks ^^
There is also an option called "Tinted LED main headlight with matrix beam including PDLS Plus" that makes the inside of the headlight black, but this is an option that costs more than 500,000 yen, and the "black eye" I want I thought it was a little different from the image, so I didn't choose this either.
What I did there is "a dark protection film for headlights".
Protection film also for the headlights of the BMW M3
Some of you who have been reading this blog for a long time may have noticed that this headlight protection film is applied to my BMW M3.
This is the state of the headlights that have not been done yet, right after the M3 was delivered.
And this is after I put a darker protection film on it.
Pretty different, right? ↓
The M3, which already has a pretty squishy expression, looks even worse with the darkening of the headlights, and I really like it ^^
A shop called "TMS" in Kotobashi, Sumida Ward, had the protection film applied to the headlights of my BMW M3.
I was originally introduced to you by an acquaintance, and I was able to ask for it. We also asked this shop for the construction of the Carrera T this time.

*The site is not yet complete.
Protection film for the headlights of the Porsche 911 Carrera T
In the price list on the site, Porsche's front headlights are not covered (x), but it is actually possible to have 911 headlights installed.
The price is from 40,000 yen for the 992 type Porsche 911 (as of July 2023).
By the way, the reason why the price list was originally marked with "x" is that there are many shops that generally do not undertake 911 headlight construction, and TMS has not done so before. .
Why are there many shops that do not accept construction? teeth:
- Since the 991, if you put a film on the headlight, there was a situation where the clear coat came off when you peeled it off.
- After the 992, the shape of the headlight changed a little, and it became a little difficult to apply the film, so it became difficult to finish it perfectly.
It seems that the reason is
In fact, when you look at the shape of the light from the side, can you see that it falls at an angle?
I don't know much about construction, but it seems that the difficulty level is high because of this.
It is a problem that the clear coat comes off when the film is peeled off, but it seems that it is now possible to deal with it because it can be recoated even if it is peeled off, or there are times when the film can be removed without removing the clear. .
However, I think that the response to each shop will be different in this area, so if you want to do construction, please consult with the shop you are asked for and ask for construction after being convinced. please ^^
So, from the evening of the day when the Carrera T was delivered, I left the car and put the headlight protection film on it.
Here is the finished product ↓
Depending on how the light hits it, you might think, "Oh, isn't it so black?"
For your reference, here is the same 992 Porsche 911 headlight with no crayon (left) and GT Silver with film on the headlight (right).
hey? Pretty different, right? ↓
By the way, both the M3 and the Carrera T are requested to have the protection film dark enough to pass the vehicle inspection, but I think it would be better to consider that this may also have to be removed depending on the situation.
This is also a comparison photo with and without film ↓
Compared to the beginning, the headlight part has become quite black, and the impression when looking at it has become even more "silver x black" ^ ^
It's great that it turned out exactly as I expected.
What I did to make the Carrera T look monochrome
To summarize the main things we did to make the Carrera T "silver x black" this time:
- GT silver body color
- black stripe decal
- Change crest to silver
- Dark protection film for headlights
- Glass sunroof (roof becomes black)
- Darker film on rear and rear side windows
- black stone guard
- Exclusive Design tail lights
kana.
I also wanted the film on the rear windows to be darker than the optional "privacy glass", so I didn't ask for the option, and after the car was delivered with the standard specifications, I had a darker film put on it ^ ^ ^
I'm asking for this work through the dealer.
Haa, thanks to so many people, it turned out to be the silver x black Carrera T I had envisioned.
There are still a few other things I would like to write about (the interior is also particular about black and white ^^), so I would like to continue writing.
