Porsche: Porsche

Audi is planning to build a new factory in the US, but Porsche has denied any plans to move its production processes to the US.

On October 25, 2026, Audi announced plans to build a new factory in Georgia, USA.

The planned investment is approximately $4 billion, with an annual production capacity of up to 200,000 units, and operations are scheduled to begin in the early 2030s.

Now, speaking of Audi, it's a manufacturer that belongs to the same Volkswagen Group as Porsche.

Previously, there were rumors that Porsche might build a factory in the US and begin production there as a way to circumvent US tariffs. But now that Audi is finally considering building a factory in the US, does that mean Porsche might follow suit...?

...or so you might think, but on October 27, 2026, Porsche's CFO, Jochen Breckner, stated that Porsche does not intend to move its production facilities.

Even if Porsche were to build a new factory in the United States, or if it were to be able to utilize Audi's US factory that was recently announced, parts such as engines would still need to be transported from Europe to the United States, and it would also require duplicate investments in suppliers.

Therefore, it seems the reason they haven't decided to produce Porsches in the US is that there are no or few advantages to doing so.

Of course, Audi will also face the problem of having to export parts and other components from Europe to the United States, but I suspect that Porsche, with its relatively low production volume and complex vehicle customization, currently doesn't see the same economic advantages in US production that Audi does.

So, for the time being, it seems unlikely that Porsche will have a production base in the United States.
