Porsche turbo charging station is a 150kW charger (now 90kW)
Now, let's take a look at the latest Porsche models on display at Porsche NOW Tokyo.
Yes, when I approached Porsche Now Tokyo, this one Porsche suddenly welcomed me. It is Porsche's fully electric car, Taycan.
And a charger was also installed.
Developed with ABB, a business allianceYou can see the CHAdeMO quick charger! !! When I was about to get excited (I'm excited about CHAdeMO (laughs)?), I suddenly turned my gaze toward Taycan, oh! Isn't there Mr. Alexander Kworth, the product manager of Porsche Japan?
I wrote it hard, but in reality, I was happy to see him again after a long time, saying "Wow! Alex-san, it's been a long time!"
From the reunion after a long time, I learned a lot about Porsche Taycan and its charger while learning various things from Mr. Alex.
First of all, this Taycan Turbo S that was exhibited outside. Next to that is the CHAdeMO turbocharging station, which is being developed in partnership with ABB.
Oh oh. It's true, it says ABB! Is it correct to be impressed here with Taycan in front of me (laughs)?
This CHAdeMO quick charger is said to be 150kW in the future, but at the moment it is still compatible with 90kW.
Actually, I had a charger, but this is quite heavy!
I just took it with me like a refueling machine that puts in gasoline, so I felt like "Oh, it's so heavy."
Insert this charger into the charging port, and when charging is complete, there is a button at the top of the blue part that you can click to press, so press it to release.
so! !! This is really thick, the charger cable ↓.
The cable of the quick charger needs to send a lot of power to charge quickly, and to do so, you have to increase the voltage, increase the current, or both.
Therefore, it seems that high voltage is accepted in Europe, but since there is a limit to the voltage in Japan, it is necessary to pass more current in order to perform the quick charging required by Porsche in Japan. It seems that the cable gets thicker.
Also, this cable is currently compatible with 90kW, but when it becomes compatible with 150kW in the future, it will be necessary to further cool the cable itself with water, so it seems that this cable will be thicker.
Well, it's really thick!
The charging port on the Taycan side looks like this ↓. There are charging ports on both the left and right sides of the car.
Reference article: The charging ports of Porsche Taycan were on both sides of the car body!
Since the Taycan exhibited this time was a European specification, the type of charging port is opposite to the Japanese specification that will come to Japan in the future.
The charging port of the Japanese specification (right-hand drive) Taycan is as follows.
- Right side of Taycan → Normal charging (Type 1)
- Left side of Taycan → Quick charge (CHAdeMO)
I learned a lot while showing the Taycan as if I was licking it from the bottom to the top. Porsche time too fun. happiness.
Porsche Taycan actual car
By the way, after enjoying plenty of Taycan and charger outside, we went on to the Porsche NOW Tokyo store.
Hmm, there is another very nice white Taycan here! !! !!
There was a presentation of Taycan by Mr. Alex from the middle, so I learned the greatness and characteristics of Taycan again. (* There was a presentation at this time because it was an opportunity before the open house, but usually the presentation is not always scheduled)
The specifications etc. are posted in detail on Porsche's official Taycan site, so please refer to it by all means. There is also a cruising distance indicator, so it's fun to look at various things ^ ^
Porsche Official:Click here for Taycan's site
I would like to take a look at the content of the presentation about Taycan.
First of all, the bonnet part can be made low because there is no engine, and the character line (the line due to the unevenness in the bonnet) is reminiscent of 911.
The enemy of electric cars is air resistance
There is also an air intake under the four-lamp type light that determines the character of Porsche.
This is to reduce the air resistance by pouring the air where eddy is likely to occur into this air intake and letting it out from behind.
Because, in an electric car, the air resistance is greater than the rolling resistance and it affects the cruising range of the car, so anyway, in the Taycan, it was designed considering how to eliminate the air resistance. And it seems.
The secret of the 20-inch Taycan turbo aero wheel
This was probably the one I was most surprised at this time. I didn't notice this at all, and I didn't know! !! !!
That is this wheel.
How, like this, is it actually a gap in the wheel? There is a part buried in ↓. Seen from a distance, I thought it was just a wheel with spokes.
However, in reality, by covering between the spokes in this way, the sides of the tire (wheel) become flatter, which reduces air resistance.
Wow! !! By the way, this is "20 inch Taycan Turbo aero wheel (option: 359,000 yen)".
In this way, the Taycan, which has been carefully designed for air resistance, is said to be superior to the Porsche 911 in terms of air resistance.
The Cd value (Constant Drag) that numerically expresses air resistance is 0.22 for Taycan and 0.29 for Porsche 911.
Oh, and the brake caliper of this Taycan was Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB).
PSCB is a miracle brake that the ash cast iron disc is coated with tungsten carbide coating, and not only the performance but also the brake dust is reduced so it is not very dirty ^ ^
The color of this PSCB caliper is "white" as if Porsche proves that "it is not dirty, really".
The fly line from the side (the line that flows toward the rear) is exactly Porsche. Furthermore, it seems that the side skirt is designed to cover the floor area of the car, so that the air coming from the front can flow cleanly toward the rear.
Like the Porsche 911 (992 type), the door handle is a type that is stored when you start running, so the door handle also becomes flat with respect to the body while running, so it seems to reduce air resistance.
Everything is considered ^^
And when you look at the rear design from directly behind, it's as if you're looking at 911.
As in the current Porsche, the rear light is also a single line light.
In Taycan, this rear light strip is made of glass for the first time, so it is very beautiful. The PORSCHE logo in it is a glass look.
Looking closer, it looks like "Oh, there is a letter called PORSCHE on the glass inside."
Since the Taycan is an electric car, there is no exhaust system, so there is only a diffuser at the bottom of the rear.
When I was told, I thought again, "I'm sure there is no muffler," but if nothing is said, I think that it doesn't feel so strange to look at a car even if the muffler isn't out. ^
While saying that he likes noisy cars, he isn't really particular about me (laughs)?
I also opened the trunk.
Inside is a container with a picture of a cute outlet. Rarely, PORSCHE does not contain letters ... ^^
There was such a cable inside.
The rest is a cigar socket on the right side of the trunk.
On the left and right, there are small, deep spaces for small things, and insanely small net-like pockets? Also. I wonder what I'm supposed to put in here ...
Also, the tech equipment Safty Vest. However, I'm not sure if this area will come with Japanese cars.
By the way, the new material "OLEA club leather" was used for the interior of this Taycan this time.
What is OLEA club leather?Club leather used in the tanning process of olive leaves..
In fact, when I touched this OLEA material, I felt that it was more moist than normal leather.
e? You're prejudiced by hearing that you're tanning with olive oil, right? ... Yeah, I think so (laughs). I'm sorry because it's simple. I mean, it's not olive oil that's tanned, it's an olive leaf extract! !! (Completely prejudiced)
I would like to get into the back seat. Lower than you can imagine!
As it was said that the battery was not placed under the floor where the feet were placed, the feet were clean. There is no such thing as strange excitement.
However, when I look into it like this, I get the impression that it is a little narrow.
I actually sat down to see what it was like when I sat down.
Result ... This kind of fit ↓
Well, I wonder if it's okay. I don't feel that it's "wide!", But that doesn't mean that it's "extremely narrow!"
By the way, my height is 160 cm.
I think that one of the reasons why I thought "Isn't it bad" when I sat in the back seat was that there was a feeling of openness that the roof part was clear and the outside was visible.
* "Fixed panoramic glass roof" with a large tinted glass roof as the roof (option price: 268,000 yen)
Do you know from which angle? I think that the feeling of openness (or conversely, the feeling of oppression) that people in the back seats feel will change considerably thanks to the ceiling part that allows you to see the outside.
By the way, it seems that this roof cannot be blackened electrically, so I thought it might get hot in summer, but Alex said that the temperature of the sun was about 28 degrees Celsius in Spain. Even when I ran underneath, the inside of the car was cool without any problems.
The screen in the center of the backseat can also control the strength and temperature of the air conditioner in the backseat.
I would like to sit in the driver's seat as well.
There is a sense of the future inside the car.
The cup folder is large and easy to use. Furthermore, since the inside is shining, this is also futuristic.
For me, who is only used to the Porsche 911 (991.2) instruments, these fully digital instruments make me feel like "Taycan, the most advanced electric car" ^^

Screens that continue to the passenger seat ...
* "Passenger display" (option price: 171,000 yen), which is a 10.9-inch touch screen display that is also installed on the passenger seat side.
There is such a big screen on the central console. I feel like I can do anything.
By the way, when my husband touched it, he said that when he touched it, he got a buzzing reaction (instead of a click feeling?).
The scenery when I turned around from the driver's seat looks like this ↓, isn't the rear window a little hard to see?
But I think that the view from this rear window is better than the Porsche 911 GT3, which is almost entirely blocked by the wings (laugh) ↓
By the way, and finally, Porsche Japan (sorry, I can't hear your name) also explained about charging.
Currently, the charger prepared for home installation is also the best in Japan, and it is said that charging for a cruising range of 400 km can be done overnight.
If you can not install a charger at home, you can use the quick charging station installed in Porsche NOW Tokyo for the first time in Japan, or use the charging facilities installed at Porsche centers etc. all over the country to charge. It was possible.
Details can be found on this Porsche official website (there is also a list of charger installation locations nationwide that will be installed in the future).
Porsche official website:Porsche E-Performance --Charging
In normal usage, if you go to the charging station to charge once or twice a month, it seems that you can use it in your daily life without problems (depending on how you use it with one full charge) Even if there is a difference, it can run about 400km).
At the rolling start, the Taycan Turbo S is faster than the Porsche 992 Turbo S
Oh, before I forget. There is one last thing I thought I had to write.
The other day, I wrote a video on this blog about which is faster, the Taycan Turbo S or the new Porsche 911 Turbo S (992), and as a result, the 911 was faster.
Reference article:Taycan Turbo S and the new Porsche 911 Turbo S (992)
But ... Alex says that if this was a rolling start, the Taycan would be faster. Nunu. That's right.
For the sake of Taycan's honor (?), I would like to note that Taycan is faster than 911 at the rolling start ^ ^!
In fact, Taycan is said to accelerate tremendously (Taycan's acceleration performance is 1.2G,Acceleration faster than a free-falling skydiver without opening a parachute)
Taycan will be able to test drive from around November 2020
In Japan, Taycan began to enter Porsche authorized dealers around November 2020, and it was said that test rides would be possible from that time.
Delivery to those who purchased it is still a little earlier than that, but for the time being, it seems that the day will come when you can enjoy Taycan in the form of a test drive ^ ^
This time, I had you show Porsche Taycan carefully in this way, and while I knew various things, I thought "Is Porsche that is not noisy still good?", But "Taikan has a 5-seater (4 + 1 seat). And I was thinking, "It might be pretty good."
And the other day, Mr. Mark Webber, a former F1 driver of Porsche Ambassador, was made with a configuratorDolomite Silver Metallic TaycanI was making a noise when I saw "This is good!", But when I was looking at the actual car, I started to think that Taycan was good for white.
Oh, I'm sorry that what I'm saying one after another has changed ^^.
However, I thought that Taycan really "changes my feelings when I see the actual car".
If you are interested in it, please be sure to see the actual vehicle once. I think it's cooler than the photo.
With this, if it becomes possible to test drive again, I think that more people will be fascinated by Taycan by knowing its performance ^ ^
Thank you for a wonderful time with Taycan at Porshce NOW Tokyo ^ ^
