This is the first time Pantone has featured a color by an automotive brand.
Do you know Pantone?
When you hear the name alone, you might think "What is it called?", but if you tell them that it's the company that announces this year's trend color every year, some of you might say "Ah, right?"
Pantone is an American company that provides world-famous color standards. Every year, it announces a trend color for the year. These colors are said to have a major impact on trends in the fashion industry, interior design, and various other product developments.
By the way, the color for 2024 is Peach Fuzz, a pale orange/pink color.
Pantone will now announce Porsche's "Turbo Night" color at New York Fashion Week (NYFW, September 6-11, 2024).
This is apparently the first time that a customized color by a car brand has been featured.
Pantone's color swatch cards are said to be owned and used by over 10 million designers and graphic artists around the world, and are a central reference for anyone who works with color. Michael Mauer, Vice President of Style Porsche, said, "We are very proud that Porsche's Turbo Night color will be the first external brand to be featured in Pantone's Fashion Color Trend Report."
Turbonite: What is Turbonite?
Turbo Night is a monochrome color that has been developed over many years and will be used exclusively by Porsche on special Turbo models from 2023 onwards.

Porsche's Turbo derivatives feature a Turbo Night-coloured Porsche crest at the front, on lightweight alloy wheels and in the centre of the steering wheel, while the rear lettering, daytime running light openings and side window edges are also finished in Turbo Night.
Turbo Night is also applied to the interior, including trim strips, seat belt straps and some controls such as the mode switch and air conditioning controls (application varies depending on the model).
Depending on the model, Turbo Night color can also be used on other parts such as the front apron inlays, spokes, and wheel aero blades.
Combined with a black interior, Turbo Night is also used as a contrast color for the seats, door panel trim, instrument panel and decorative stitching on the floor mats.
Turbo Knight took several years to develop.
When developing the Turbo Knight, the decision to change the existing color of the Porsche crest was apparently made with great care, and initially various patterns were tried out, including carmine red and orange.
However, they all seemed "a bit too loud," and after further consideration of the Porsche Turbo model, they came to the conclusion that a more subdued, elegant and timeless color would be best for the Turbo.
This led to the current monochrome crest and the grey-based Turbo Knight colour scheme.
According to Pantone, Turbo Night is a gray... but wait a minute... if you look closely, it's not just gray, it also has a tan-like bronze hue.
The top layer has a satin matte finish.
It's certainly true that it's not just a plain gray, but a deep gray that is very beautiful, and I think this monochrome crest using Turbo Knight is really lovely.
Turbo Knight is a title that truly reigns supreme because it is a turbo model.
I am very happy that Pantone has included this Porsche Turbo Night color in their fashion color trend report, so that even people who are not interested in Porsche will know about the wonderful Turbo Night color created by Porsche.
