Since I bought my Porsche 911, I had decided to put in a Kicker subwoofer, so I had a Porsche dealer do the optional work to get the wiring out.
So, the rear of my Porsche had wiring so that I could attach a woofer at any time, but I could not buy a kicker (it was just Lazy ...), there is Think of the dayI will visit JET STROKEIt was "Let's put in a Kicker!"
Shazam. I ordered Kicker right away. Arrived. Kicker has been a favorite subwoofer since the BMW era I owned in the past.
However, the Kicker I used so far does not fit Porsche in size, so I had to buy it again. * From this point onward, comments from my husband will also be included.
Husband: I used to connect Comp VR DVC 2 ohms in series and use the unit as 4 ohms. This time it was assembled, so I chose a 4 ohm unit.
I bought the Kicker CompRT TCWRT124 (34.3cmx68.5cmx17.7cm / 8.9cm).
When I open it ... A 12-inch woofer appears from inside. Oh, it's cool.
The Kicker I had and attached to my BMW and VW Golf Pirelli in the past was a 12-inch one shot, so the shape is different, and this 12-inch looks cool again because it looks like two shots at a glance. One is the active subwoofer and the other is the reflex subwoofer.
Husband: Until now, it was a 12-inch one shot, but since I installed it in a box with a larger capacity this time, the bass was sinking, but this time I am a little worried about the sound because it is thin. did.
The Kicker logo is also included!
Hmmm, this kicker goes into my Porsche. I'm having too much fun. it's the best…. I can't wait! !!
Husband: Kicker's powerful magnet (COMP VR) did not fit in the rear tray of 911 by any means. Therefore, the appearance of this COMP RT made me feel the technological progress. It is wonderful that a porcelain circuit that is almost the same as COMP VR can be inserted with half the thickness. What's more, it's great that it comes with a passive radiator and is installed in the box.
Is it okay to dissipate heat in COMP VR? I was wondering (although I'm not going to the competition in particular), but it's great that COMP RT has a slim package that includes such issues. It's slim, but it's heavy enough, so don't bother to put a heavy object on the lightweight 911 ^^
… This time, the wiring has already been taken out at the Porsche Center, so my husband will do the connection and installation in the car there.
At the time of BMW and VW so far, my husband did all the wiring work, so this time it seems that it was a little easier for my husband because the wiring has already come out.
Husband: As expected, I don't have enough technology to wire directly to the battery, so I asked PC. It seems that recent amplifiers use 80A or a direct kit that asks "Do you really want to pass so much current?", But how about 30A from your PC? So I asked for wiring at 30A. Of course, I had a fuse inserted along the way (I forgot to ask where it was).
It would be nice if there was a subwoofer output from the head unit, but since 991.2 the navigation has been updated, so it was not possible. So, I asked them to separate the wiring of the rear speakers and connect it to the amplifier with the HI-LO converter.
My husband's commitment this time began with pasting black felt fabric (a fabric material like that used for speakers such as kickers) on the board on which the amplifier etc. are installed (laughs). Just in case, it is a perfect fireproof fabric.
I was doing oil painting (although I haven't done it at all these days), so I had a large commercial stapler to snap the campus fabric into the wooden frame of the campus, and this time I used that stapler. Created by slamming felt dough on a tree. It's pretty beautiful.
Husband: I'm not sure what kind of felt is good for felt, so I casually ordered it online because it's fireproof and heat resistant, so I ordered it online, but it seems to be in good shape.
Attach the amplifier you have been using before.
Husband: It's an analog amplifier that I bought over 15 years ago (laughs). Even so, I used it as it is because 2 ohms is not possible with BTL connection and 600W is output. This amp also has a built-in HI-LO converter, but I have an active type HI-LO converter LC2 that I have, so I am using that. * Later, I replaced it with a new one.
Husband: If the speaker cables are lined up in parallel with the DC, the sound quality will somehow deteriorate. I think it is different. Even so, even if the DC component is mixed in the bass below 100Hz and the sound becomes muddy, do you think I can't hear it? ??
Husband: I'm glad that the RCA cable was shorter, but I didn't have much left over on hand, so I tried using Sony's PCOCC RCA cable, which anyone who knows knows. The particulars of wiring are straight lines + right angles. I'm going to use a tie wrap to straighten it.
Husband: The output of LC2 is a type that is fixed with screws, so I made a simple bridge to release the power of wiring. All other wiring is crimped to prevent it from coming off.
Husband: The blue wire on the LC-2 is the ACC control short pin. Mr. PC took the wiring from the place where the power supply was completely cut off when the car was turned off, so it was easy like this.
Husband: The part I had a hard time with was that it fits perfectly in the 7 cm gap between the rear tray and the rear seat. It was one. The strategy was to shift the amplifier and fixed base according to the angle of the seat, make on-site adjustments, and wait for the felt to become familiar and dent.
Take the board with the completed amplifiers and the Kicker woofer and install it in the car at night. My husband is doing his best ... I'm a supporter (laughs).
Since I was doing it night after night, the guards came to see me many times and said "Thank you for your hard work" many times. A suspicious couple ... ↓ The blurred part is my husband's work (laughs).
And. Finally the woofer is installed in the car!
It's like this. Isn't it too cool? ?? (← Self-satisfaction MAX) ↓
It's really cool!
It's just the right size for the space behind the Porsche 911 and fits nicely. Of course, it does not block the rear view, so you can see behind it clearly (the kicker may be reflected and the kicker can be seen on the entire surface of the glass, but it can be managed).
Husband: The box I installed this time is supposed to fit in the rear seat back of an American RV truck, so the KICKER logo is in the opposite direction. I thought I'd try to do everything in the opposite direction, but I couldn't reach that level.
The essential sound is ... Hmmm, the best! it's the best! The bass is amazing. The strongest. Already the best. I love the roaring sound, so from now on, except when I want to hear the engine sound, I will run the music with the roaring woofer bass. It ’s really the best. I love Kicker.
Husband: Since the pickup from the rear speaker output is better than I expected, both the active HI-LO converter and the gain of the amplifier are considerably lowered. The equalizer is also quite modest, but if you turn up the volume, the front seats may have a massage. It is an output that I think. Personally, I was happy because I wanted the output of the hair swaying (still, probably because of 4 ohms, it never exceeded 30A).
If possible, I thought that it would be possible to achieve both speed and power by specializing in deep bass and letting another speaker take charge of the bass drum-like thing, but the installation location is really difficult. I'm delusional that I should be able to use 12 inches for 50HZ or less and use about 4 8 inches to match the kick speed of the bass drum.
By the way, when carrying children, the bass sounds even when playing music normally, so I dare to lower the Base setting to the highest -9, which can be lowered as an option.
And when the child gets off and I am alone, I raise the Base setting and enjoy Kicker.
Life with Kicker is really great!
