How to Disable the Alarm System in a Porsche 911 or Lamborghini

Posted: Posted:

Called when a car alarm goes off on the ferry

The other day, I wrote about how I loaded a Lamborghini Huracan EVO onto a ferry and transported it to Hokkaido, but there's one more thing I need to write about here, so even though I'm being persistent, I'll tell you another ferry story.

The Porsche owner couple who were the reason we decided to take the Oarai to Tomakomai ferry trip shared their experience of taking the ferry.

"You should know how to turn off the alarm."

This is the advice I received.

This is because when your car is parked on a ferry and the waves or other factors cause it to sway, the tilt sensor can be activated and cause the car to sound an alarm.

If the alarm goes off, you will be called inside the ferry building and told to "turn it off," so it's a big problem if you don't know this. Once the ship has left port, you may not be able to connect to the Internet, so it's a hassle to check the manual while the alarm is ringing...

How to turn off the alarm on a Porsche 911 (992 model)

First, let's look at the case of the Porsche 911 (992 model).

Use the key to disarm (temporarily turn off) the alarm system in a 992 Porsche 911.

After getting out of the car and closing the door, pressing the "lock" button on the key once will put the car into the normal locked state (with interior monitoring and tilt sensor turned on). However, to temporarily turn off the alarm system...

You can unlock the lock button by pressing it once and then pressing it a second time within two seconds.

It's like a double click, just press the lock button twice within two seconds.

Normally, when you press the lock button once, the orange light on the side will flash twice, but if you press it twice, it will flash twice and then light up again for a slightly longer period of time to indicate that it is locked.

This will give you peace of mind while on the ferry, as the rocking of the ship will not trigger the tilt sensor and sound an alarm.

Also, if you unlock your car normally when you get in, everything will go back to normal.

How to turn off the alarm in a Lamborghini

Now, here's how to turn off this alarm in your Lamborghini.

This time, I checked it on my Huracan EVO, but I think it's basically the same for any recent car. However, if you are planning to take a ferry or something, I recommend you check in advance.

This time, I was properly taught this method by the Lamborghini Shiba salesperson before boarding the ferry.

Thanks to the advice I received, I was able to turn off (deactivate) the alarm while on the ferry, so I was able to feel safe.

In fact, after leaving port, several passengers were called by the ship's announcement, "Passengers with vehicle number xxxx, please bring your car keys and come to xxxx." Every time I heard this announcement, I was nervous, hoping I wouldn't be called, even though the alarm had been turned off (laughs).

Well, in the case of a Lamborghini, you don't use a key. You use this door. Well, you do use it.

Open the driver's side door.

And then... I had never noticed this before, but there is some kind of button like this around here.

It says "OFF" somehow. It looks like a button that can turn off a security alarm.

Yes, just click here.

When pressed the red light comes on.

The moment you press this button, this light above the door will also light up red (this will go out immediately).

In this way, you can press the OFF button on the door, exit the car with the red light on, close the door, and then just lock it using the key as usual.

This will temporarily turn off security until you next unlock your car.

By going through these steps to lock the ferry, I was not called once because of the alarm going off during either the outbound or return trip.

I think it's better to have these alarm systems turned on in case something happens, but I think it's better to turn them off when boarding a ferry, so I hope this will be helpful for those who will be installing them on ferries in the future.
