Ferrari 296 GTS: The red Ferrari is back
Well, on paper it was scheduled for July 2024... and the actual delivery of the car was scheduled for August 22nd, 2024, but I was busy with various things for a while after the delivery and missed the opportunity, so I haven't been able to write about it on my blog for a long time.
If things continue like this, 2024 will be over before we know it, so I would like to suddenly announce that my Ferrari 296GTS has been delivered.
The purchase will be made from Cornes Shiba, who has always been so kind to us.
This is the scene at the delivery ceremony.
Wow. It's open now.
Maybe it's because I'm excited, but the photo is out of focus, but the delivery ceremony for this Ferrari 296GTS was held at the Cornes Shiba showroom, and I was able to receive it safely!!
Sorry it looks unsightly as I haven't removed the plastic yet.
…picture?
Enough with that introduction already?
Ah, hi, sorry ^^
That's right.
Here is the real delivery ceremony for the Ferrari 296GTS, the same as the miniature car we introduced earlier.
This is the unveiled 296GTS.
So, so, so, so cool!!!
The red Ferrari is for our family.Since California TSo, hmm, red Ferraris are really cool after all!!
Well, in our house, a red Ferrari is definitely the classic.
Previous Ferrari Roma dark greyI also really liked (Grigio Silverstone), but seeing a red Ferrari just makes me feel excited in a different way.
And the Ferraris delivered by Cornes Shiba are always beautifully smooth and shiny, which is truly amazing.
It's so slippery and shiny that you'll want to stroke it all over. It's the best.
I thought the Ferrari 296GTS (or GTB) was cool from the first time I saw it, but now that I see it in front of me, it really is that cool; I'm completely in love with the red Ferrari.
When I get excited, my already limited vocabulary becomes even weaker (lol).
Only the roof part is black.
I've driven it several times since it was delivered in August (although Ferraris are too big for me to drive, so my husband drives and I sit in the passenger seat), and I've been incredibly satisfied every time I've driven it.
I'm satisfied with the sound, the ride is very comfortable, and although I haven't driven it, I'm sure the performance is good too.
But there was one thing that surprised me, and that was when I drove the 296GTS plug-in hybrid in eDrive mode, the electric mode.
When the delivery ceremony was over and it was time to go home, I was sitting in the passenger seat and I expected my husband to start the engine and hear the usual Ferrari booming "BOOM!" sound echoing through the Cornes Shiba delivery corner.
However, in reality, while my husband was saying "Thank you very much" to the salesperson, the car smoothly moved forward without making a sound.
I was in the passenger seat and panicked, "Wait, the car is moving!" I never dreamed that the car was already in driving mode, so I thought the gear had gone into neutral and started moving on its own (laughs).
When the car is switched to the electric motor only mode, it starts moving completely silently. A Ferrari that is silent? At first, I couldn't get used to it and it felt really strange.
Of course, the moment you switch to the normal internal combustion engine mode, the satisfying roar of a Ferrari begins.
It's not a problem for us, as we park our cars in an area where no one will be bothered no matter what time we start the engine, whether it's early in the morning or late at night, but for people who park their cars in quiet residential areas, it must be fantastic to be able to go out (or come back) to this silence.
Now, as for the seats in the 296GTS, if you put them too far back you can hardly recline them at all.
If you fold the seat forward, there is a little space, so maybe you can put a little luggage there...
That being said, it seems that a wide variety of operations can be performed on the screen in front of the driver's seat; in addition to the speedometer and the like, you can also control the air conditioning and music media on this screen.
It seems that most operations can be done from this steering wheel, but there are various buttons on the front and back for those operations.
It seems like it will be quite difficult to get used to it.
As I get older, my physical abilities will decline and I can imagine a future where it will become too dangerous to drive a Ferrari, but it seems like the future where I will be unable to control digital technology and give up will come sooner than that (laughs).
Another thing that was shocking was that when you put the navigation system into full-screen mode, the entire screen you see in front of the steering wheel becomes the map.
Isn't this amazing? (lol) I'm not used to it, I can't drive like this...!
By the way, there is also a small screen in the passenger seat, so you can easily operate the air conditioning there.
You can also check the speedometer, so you can see things like "at my current acceleration it will go xx km/h," which is also fun.
The 296GTS is our family's first plug-in hybrid car.
There are no charging facilities in the parking lot where we park the car, so we always have to "charge by driving."
At first, people were saying that it would be bad if you didn't drive it at least once a week, but after domestic deliveries of the 296GTB/GTS began, I heard that it would probably be okay to leave it alone for three to four weeks.
At first I tried looking at the car for a week, then two weeks, and so on, but in reality, even if I haven't driven it for three weeks, the charge meter doesn't drop by even half.
However, we cannot deny the possibility that the meter may suddenly drop halfway through (lol), so we are trying to ride it at least once every three weeks if possible (of course, we will ride it more than that, but three weeks will be the maximum when we are too busy to ride).
After the car was delivered, since I had chosen the GTS (the GTB is a coupe and the GTS is an open-top car), I immediately took it for a drive with the roof open.
Driving a bright red Ferrari with the top down is an amazing feeling.
I love Porsches, but Ferraris give me a different kind of happiness that I can only get from a Ferrari.
The Ferrari 296GTS that was delivered this time was configured by a sales representative from Cornes Shiba, who has now retired, and we went through the order process together.
To place an order,I test drove the 296GTB on the Hakone Turnpike. That was about two years ago. It was a long time ago.
After that, the new sales person in charge handled all the procedures up until the purchase and delivery of the car.
I am grateful to Cornes Shiba and the two sales staff. Thank you very much.
I would like to take good care of it.
Wow, it's really cool... (sorry since it's my own car lol).
