Two GTD PRO class Porsche. Goosebumps ...
From January 29th to 30th, 2022, Florida, USA was held in Daytona.IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Daytona 24 Hours..
Did you all watch the game?
For those who watched the game, that hot excitement is once again, and for those who did not watch the game, I definitely want to see this part, so I am writing this blog.
There is a 5-minute video of the final lap at the end of this page, so if you don't have time, just take a minute from 3:00 to 4:00, so please take a look! !!
But every time I see it, I get goose bumps.
At the very end of the 24-hour race, I've been running for 24 hours and it's the last "final lap" event.
In the GTD PRO class, #9 Porsche and #2 Porsche were competing for victory until the time of the final lap.
The lead was the #2 KCMG team. The driver at this time is Mr. Laurens Vanthoor
And the Pfaff Motorsports team of #9 was in 2nd place. The driver at this time was Mathieu Jaminet.
Hah. The mechas are also really cool.
Anyway, until the very last minute, the battle between these two Porsche was really amazing.
I can only say that it is amazing.
At first, #2 that was in front of me is stuck to #9 ... ^^ I'd like you to see it in the video, but I've been in contact with it several times.
However, #2, which was overtaken by #9, seems to be stuck again from behind (laughs).
If you write the result first, the winner is the red Porsche #9.
As for how the result was decided at the last minute, both of them entered the grass and #2 spun.
Even so, #2 managed to regain its position immediately and was able to run in 3rd place (Ferrari was overtaken by Ferrari when spinning, so Ferrari was in 2nd place).
It was really good that the result was not worse after the spin, but without this, Porsche would have finished in 1st and 2nd place without knowing which one would win.
Porsche (#9 and #2) drivers Post-race comments
The comments of each driver after the race also make me cry.
Hmmm. Is it because I'm old? Tears are fragile (laughs). Because the race was so cool, I was impressed, and finally these comments. Uuu (tears and tears).
This is an excerpt, but please take a look at the comments.
Comment from the winner, #9 driver Mathieu Jaminet:
"I did everything I could in one lap of every lap. Lawrence (the driver of the #2 who competed on the last lap) is a colleague of the Porsche team, so I know him very well. I contacted him many times during the race and told myself, "He's not getting past me today!" At the end, both of them went up on the grass, but fortunately I was able to avoid spinning. That was it. ”
#2 driver Laurens Vanthoor's comment:
"I had a clear goal. That's the 24 Hours of Daytona after winning the Nürburgring, Spa, and Le Mans. I did everything I could to achieve this goal of four crowns, but it didn't work. I think the final lap will be replayed many times within me for a long time to come. I cried while returning to the pit lane. I did everything I could, but I couldn't win. The better team won today. That is Pfaff Motorsports (#9). congratulation. 』\
… Ah. Already, at the moment of the comment "I cried on the way back to the pit lane" of this #2, I was almost crying.
When I think about #9, I'm excited and goosebumps, and when I think about #2, I can't say anything about this, hmm, I feel like I can't say anything about it! !! !! (Excuse me, I'm making a lot of noise with one person's emotions (laughs)).
Oh yeah, Porsche also won the GTD class with the #16 Wright Motorsports team.
2022 24 Hours of Daytona Final Lap Video: 2 Porsche
Here is a video of Final Lap.
It's a video of about 5 minutes, but it's really good to have only 1 minute from 3:00 to 4:00, so please take a look! If possible, from the beginning (laughs).
Watching it makes me feel stronger. I have seen it many times.
For some reason, I've been staying at home for the 24 Hours of Daytona to prevent corona infection, so I feel like I've been watching for at least 16 hours during the 24-hour race.
No ~ It was really amazing ^^
