Porsche Top 5 Series: Interior Highlights of the new 911
As you may know if you are watching various videos, Porsche seems to like to make videos of various "TOP 5" series, and has released various top 5 videos in the past. increase.
On New Year's Day 2019, the Top 5 video of the exterior of the 8th generation Porsche 911 (992 type) was released (link at the bottom of the page), but this time it is about the interior of 992. Top5 video has been released.
"Porsche Top 5 Series: Interior Highlights of the new 911"is. The highlights of the interior of the new 911 are introduced.
Until now, I feel that there has been little talk about the interior of the 992, so I would like to take a look at this Top 5 interior video.
In this video, Ivo Van Hulten of Director or Interior Design talks about it. Those who have been in charge of interiors since joining Porsche in 2014.
This video is an introduction to his "Top 5 Highlights in 992 Interiors".
… And, though, he doesn't really say so much in this video. So, here I would like to introduce some of the content he was talking about in other articles.
* Therefore, the image of the following content is from this video, but the text I am writing is the content in the video + α, so it is not a direct translation.
Then, I would like to see it ~ ^^
5th place: Operating Concept Operating concept
"New control concept" ranked 5th. Inspired by past Porsche. A 10.9 inch touch screen display in the center.
By concentrating various functions here, it is possible to operate various things more quickly and accurately than before.
And this newly developed new generation steering that can communicate directly with the instruments. The operational responsiveness of this steering is also significantly improved.
An analog tachometer is placed in the center, and it is designed so that the information you want to know can be easily understood in front of you.
4th place: Offset Center Console Offset Center Console
Looking at the interiors of past 911 models, I noticed that each interior has an "era". In the first era, "Horizontal" = horizontal layout.
From the end of the 1980s to the beginning of the 1990s, technical elements began to be emphasized, and the layout became more "Vertical" = vertical.
This time, the 992 emphasizes the texture of the new material, while giving it a "horizontal" layout that is from the earliest era. ↓ This is the interior of the 911 in the "horizontal layout" era.
Now you can see that the console is embedded under the dashboard. This design gives more emphasis to the trim area at the top of the dashboard. This trim part leads to the 3rd place of interior highlights ...
3rd place: 3D Decor Concept 3D Decor Concept
The third place is this horizontal trim. By customizing the 3D design part here ↓ (where you are touching it with your hands), you can customize your car to your liking. This trim can be mahogany, carbon or aluminum.
And there's also this 3D design trim on the door.
2nd place: New Instrument Cluster New instruments
Second place is these instruments. The analog rev counter (tachometer) is at the center, and the new 911 model is characterized by the fact that five meters are lined up in five complete circles.
Since the five instruments form a perfect circle, the meter part is quite wide. The old 911 was beautiful because the important design elements were designed to be horizontal in a straight line, and the meters were wider than the steering.
1st place: Analogue meets Digital A perfect balance between analog and digital
The real highlight of the 992's interior is the perfect "analog and digital" balance.
It's possible to design everything digitally nowadays, but we didn't want to. I wanted to make it an analog, tactile "sports car" that would entertain me every day.
I repeatedly asked myself what the essence of a sports car is and what the facts that make up that essence, and worked on interior design every day. The ultimate goal is to further refine the 911-specific design to make it more like 911.
An analog tachometer, these five buttons ↑, and the small PDK gear on the center console. All of this is integrated with digital, and I think all of this constitutes the perfect interior for a "sports car."
The center console itself has been designed to be compact, and the emotional and sensory experience has been brought to the fore.
The 911 is always pursuing a balance between "being able to use everyday" and "a very fast sports car."
You can sit deep in the driver's seat and get the feel of a sports car from the powerful wideness of the instrument to the dashboard, or get support for your daily driving from the digital displays.
