[Additional notes] New Porsche 911 GT3 (992) official prototype released

Porsche development legend Andreas Preuninger introduces the 992 GT3

Not long ago, an article about the new Porsche 911 GT3 by Andreas Preuninger, who is said to be a Porsche development legend, was published in the German media and was soon withdrawn again.

This time, the video that would have been the source of the article content at that time has finally been officially released.

992 type Porsche 911 GT3 has PDK and manual

Although the whole picture has not been revealed until the beginning of 2021, it seems that the key elements have begun to be introduced, so I would like to take a quick look.

• The mission of the 992 GT3 is not only a PDK but also a manual, a naturally aspirated (NA) horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine, and the vehicle weight is about 1,400 kg.

• The 4-liter NA engine bolted to the other side of the rear axle is derived from the unit mounted on the 911 Speedster.

• The power of the Speedster is said to be 510 horsepower (ps), which is 10 horsepower higher than the 991.2 type GT3, so although the official value of the 992 GT3 has not been released, it will be about that level this time as well.

• The red line of the tachometer displays 9,000 rpm.

• The manual is offered in 6-speed, and the PDK is offered in the same ratio as the 991 generation (7-speed), with a ratio (1-fewer ratios) that is one less than that of the 992 Carrera S.

• At first glance, the prototype that can be seen in the video looks like a manual car, but in reality, even if the PDK model → shift lever is PDK, it will be a shift lever instead of a switch knob like other 992 models. (That's the best ← Oh, this is my personal opinion (laughs))

• It is said that the total weight of the 992 GT3 is almost unchanged from the 991.2 GT3 → It is about 1,400 kg when the driver and full tank of gasoline are installed.

• The 992 GT3 uses the first double wishbone suspension (front) in the 911 that runs on public roads.

• The brakes are also larger than before, and the front is 408 mm (previously 380 mm). The rear is 380 mm. PCCB is an option.

• The wheels and tires are the same as the previous GT3 RS and the current Carrera S, a set of 20 inches front & 21 inches rear.

• The 992 GT3 aero is equipped with a new vented carbon fiber bonnet as standard equipment.

• The rear wing has a fixed wing with a swan neck hinge derived from motor sports. This increases downforce.

• Until now, the GT3 wing was a rear wing made of multiple pieces, but from this 992, it has become a wing made of one piece, as seen in the GT3 RS.

• Andreas says the new GT3 is pretty fast at the Nürburgring, although no specific performance figures have been released yet.

By the way, and last but not least, "Shark Blue" is said to be a new color from the 992GT3.

Also in this video, at around 20:32, Andreas showed me "just a little". This is definitely Shark Blue ~ ^^!
